We usually order our dog’s kibble from Amazon or Chewy, but on those days that we are out of dog food, Rittenhouse Pet Supply is there to rescue us. Small shop with super friendly service. The prices are on par or just slightly above what we normally pay, but it’s OK since we are supporting a small business. They will order something for you if they don’t carry it, and offer delivery for $ 5. I’ve brought our little guy, Benji, a few times and he loves sticking his nose where all the dog treats are!

Customer Service is absolutely terrible. Was in the store for several minutes without being greeted. Not to mention the cashier girl had an extremely negative demeanor, and the cat walking around the store was a nasty little thing. I went in to buy something for my dog but I decided to take my business elsewhere. s

Can’t say enough good things about Rittenhouse Pet Supply. In addition to having a great variety of quality pet foods at competitive prices they have an amazingly helpful, friendly staff. It’s one of those establishments that really makes you feel at home in the neighborhood. The delivery service is great too for heavy items like cat litter.

this is gonna be my emergency go-​to spot for my pup. i was a negligent puppy mama and ran out of food for him. he’s ok tho… i made him some chicken, salmon, rice, green beans and broccoli. he’s eating better than me sometimes.
anyways, by the time i was off of work and got home, my usual spot would’ve been closed. so i got on Unilocal and found this place. i called to see if they carried orijen first, the woman i spoke to was super nice and helpful, even offering to hold a bag for me so i can pick it up after work.
it looks like they have their share of regulars and the woman there was also very nice. the prices are a little higher than my usual spot but i expected that since we’re in rittenhouse. the woman who helped me also offered to order stuff for me, if i called to let them know what i need… even knowing that i had a usual go-​to spot closer to where i live. that’s service i can get on-​board with. the place is small but they’ve got all the goods your animal child needs. go check it out.

I have been there a few times and they are not helpful at all. Went in looking for a new food and the lady working was not friendly, and became less so when I asked questions about the different types of food. They seem tied up doing things other than providing customer service or learning about dog food.

great service, feels good to support a local shop and they have a good variety of products. they will even deliver within the neighborhood if needed. much better experience than any of the nearby chain pet stores.

We have to get special puppy food (Taste of the Wild) and this is the only place in the city that carries it. They will deliver 15lb bags for $ 5 and will add anything extra I might need to order (Kong toys etc). Can’t beat that deal with a stick!

First time visiting this store. Got everything I needed (cat toys), and then some (cat food). They seem to have a thriving pet sitting business also. I plan to shop there again.

Love it here! Unlike some of the other pet stores in the area, they carry small animal products. There’s a great selection for rabbits and they always have what I am looking for in stock. Staff are friendly and helpful too.

Great shop! Super helpful staff. Just adopted a stray and Niki was super helpful in recommending some dog food for my companion. Highly recommend.

Great place for all of your furry children shopping! Good selection of items to meet any needs. Wendy is very friendly, real and has the capability to have Pet adoptions. If you’re in the area make it a priority stop!

I love this little pet shop! They have a lot of small animal supplies, the staff is very friendly! I’ve used their pet sitting services, I am so pleased and I will use them again. They go above and beyond, the staff are very knowledgable and have a lot of good suggestions on products. All of the staff are so kind and caring, I know Snickers is in great hands when I go away. Monty, the in house orange kitty is very cute and sweet. I’ll definitely continue to be a frequent shopper here! The adoptable kittens in the window are so cute too.

I love love love this store! I work down the street and had been searching for a pet supply store that sold healthy, all natural pet food for my puppy. I found this hidden gem a while back and have been going here ever since. They carry a variety of great dog food, and the prices are very reasonable, especially for Center City. The owner is super friendly and knows ALOT about the various dry/​wet food and treats. Their hours are great and if they don’t have a product that you are looking for, they will order it for you. They even offer delivery if you live in the area! They accept credit/​debit and cash, so no worries there. The store is a bit small, but it gives you the feeling of a mom & pop pet store. A must visit!

My dog has been in love with this down to earth store since he was a puppy. He pulls for a few blocks to get there then beelines it to the counter to say hi to the lovely staff and get a treat. (Even if he declines the treat, he very much enjoys being greeted like the prince he is.)
They always have interesting food alternatives that fulfill all of my dog food criteria. I could read the bags all day and still wouldn’t find any that I’d reject due to health concerns. They also have American made chews and dried meat things which were extremely difficult to find for a while.

They literally saved my cat’s life once. He had fatty liver disease and would not eat much or anything at all. I tried all kinds of food; wet, dry, natural, usual mainstream crappy stuff. Got a dry food from here called California Naturals; he stared to eat it & his liver regenerated itself. He lived a few more years (9 lives right?) until he got pancreatic cancer.

I called this location to see if they happened to have a certain product. The women who answered the phone literally answered saying «hello» and that is all that I literally had to ask if I actually had called Rittenhouse Pet Store. After she replied «yes», she said «what do you want»? It could be just me or that she is having a bad day but I felt that she was rude and regardless of potentially having a bad day should have been friendlier and more professional attitude.

This is a conveniently located store that carries a good selection of cat and dog necessities. The owner is very nice and will gladly place special orders for customers. The resident cat is adorable, and they often have pets for adoption in the front window. They used to participate in Lokalty, which was AWESOME because I got a $ 20 credit to use there; but that program doesn’t exist anymore, sadly.

Heaven forbid my city-​savvy dog ever gets loose, I’ll know where to find him. He’ll be scratching at the door of Rittenhouse Square Pet Supply, aching to get his fill of complimentary treats.
Like a heat seeking missile my dog always finds his way to Rittenhouse Pets for premium treats, food, and the occasional toy. The owner and her staff are incredibly kind and accommodating. Don’t see what you need on the shelves? Place an order by Tuesday and they’ll have it in store for pickup on Wednesday. Can’t make it to the store during regular business hours? They deliver to most of the city (if you live above Snyder and below Girard you’re most likely within range).
It’s a city dweller without a car’s dream shop. With quality products like Zuke’s, Wellness, and Solid Gold this is a small business that I’m happy to stand behind.

Rittenhouse Pet supply is the best pet store in Philly! The owner is always so helpful in helping me with any issues that I have had with my pets and providing me with really honest recommendations for them.
The selection of products that they carry is what initially made me start shopping there. I feed my dog and cat Orijen (which is amazing) and they were the first pet store in the city that i could find it at (with the best pricing on it).
It is frustrating to see peoples complaints about the adoption process for the kitties that are there. it isn’t something that the owner or employess of the store run. Also, they are nice enough to be helping in finding them homes for stray animals. that is a good thing.

I needed eye drops for my pup’s irritated eyes. I figured it was from foreign particles and not an infection (due to some extensive website research), and Vetericyn seemed to be what I was looking for.
After multiple calls to many local pet stores, Rittenhouse Square Pet Supply was the only place that had it! Kudos to that!
