Sahara Restaurant and Hookah

I was so thrilled to find this new Iraqi restaurant in Philadelphia! There are tons of great Lebanese and Syrian places in the city, but this is the ONLY authentic Iraqi restaurant you’ll find in the Greater Philadelphia Area.
First, the family that owns the place is wonderful and delightful. They were all very thoughtful and kind; they chatted with me right away and made me feel welcomed. Absolutely kind and thoroughly positive.
Second, the food was terrific! I ordered an Iraqi-​style Kabab which was served with rice, and a side salad. The meat was perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and well presented. It was wonderful. I also ordered Hummus which was served with plenty of bread. Everything tasted great. I will definitely be returning soon and bring some friends with me.
Finally, if you’re interested in trying Iraqi food, I strongly recommend you stop by and pay them a visit. The menu is very large and there’s some awesome regional specialties on the menu that I can’t wait to try (like Kibbi). Keep the good work!

This is the best Mediterranean food restaurant in Phily! Also the best Hookah Place. The only place that I will defiantly revisit!

I grew up eating middle eastern food, so this place was a huge comfort. Super friendly, family run, delicious food. What more could you ask for?

Ordered delivery and paid $ 4.50 for a side of hummus… which turned out to be approx 2 tablespoons in a container. I could have gone to the grocery store and bought a whole container for the same amount of money. Called the place and they said they were unwilling to make any changes. Such a disappointment. Waste of money.

This is my second time here, and they are absolutely amazing. Extremely down to earth and professional. The service was very fast when I ordered takeout and the food portion was generous. Great prices and the food is very fresh and flavorful. I ordered the lamb shawarma platter, which came with a nice light salad, rice, pita bread and a delicious dipping sauce. I wrapped the lamb in the pits and dipped it into the sauce, perfect. I’ll be returning again.

Amazing food and the owners are the sweetest people on earth! Everything is freshly cooked and the meat is flavored so well. Also the best hookah I’ve had in Philly! Close to Temple Campus which is also another plus for me. Love this place!

This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. It is extremely family friendly. The atmosphere is good. I’ve been there quite a few times already and I really enjoyed my time there. You should get the chicken shawarma it’s awesome :)

Family owned… very authentic middle eastern food. great and cheap hookah and all hookah heads are fresh fruit heads. I really like the atmosphere there. They cater too. I highly recommend this place.

I like the place, good hospitality, great food and amazing Hooka, we ordered Hummes and falafel as starters. After that we ordered Iraqi kabab, then we enjoyed our time with hookah, i ordered mix lemon mint, my friend ordered citrus mist, come guys and enjoy the place, peace to all

The food was amazing and very good quality. Call in advance so you don’t have to wait too long. Gets very busy, but definitely worth the wait. Everything was very fresh and tasty. I can’t wait to go back. The restaurant is also very beautiful on the inside. Glad to see a good business open on Cecil B.

Hookah was not only the best I’ve had in Philly but also the cheapest. Fruit bowls here are cheaper than regular non-​fruit bowls at other places in the city. Great service, food, prices, I could go on and on. HIGHLY recommended.
