I tried Tang’s tofu with garlic/curry on brown rice. The best part is that the dish included a substantial serving of real vegetables. There was carrot, broccoli, cabbage, celery, and a bit of onion and green pepper(1 slice). There were 8 pieces of fried tofu in an extremely mild and not very flavourful«curry» sauce. Brown rice option comes at no extra cost.($ 3.50) This seems to be one of the better options for Chinese food on campus. There’s plenty of vegetables, it’s not especially greasy. While the food wasn’t particularly flavourful, it was fairly good clean food with a good helping of vegetables.

Cheap Chinese food with quick service. Easily replaceable by the countless other options on campus(think Chez Yasmine, Kim’s, even the fruit truck right across). Forgettable, oftentimes created with curt manners. Food is disappointingly basic — essentially pre-made(fried or steamed) meat with a sauce of your choice dumped onto your food.

I go to Tang’s so much, it’s essentially my staple lunch food. I love all the tofu dishes I’ve had(tofu & vegetables, curry tofu, tofu lo mein, eggplant tofu, spicy tofu, General Tso’s tofu) and the lo mein. Free brown rice adds to the greatness of this food truck. The price is really cheap: I usually spend less than $ 5! They also get foods out pretty fast. I honestly can’t think of any bad thing about Tang’s. The best thing about this food truck is that I haven’t gotten a meal with hair. I’ve had three meals with hair from«The Real Le Anh» ewww…

For some reason, Tang’s is the most overlooked food truck on campus. It may be its less than desirous location across the street from the Upper Quad Gate, crowded among such favorites as Chez Yasmine, Lovash, as well as both Le Anh’s. When someone thinks of an Asian food truck, Kim’s or Yue Kee typically come to mind. However, I’d argue Tang’s deserves to be right up with those. Tang’s menu is structured slightly differently from what one might be used to. They are sorted by protein, and you get your choice of «topping», such as vegetables, broccoli, kung pao, etc. I find this much easier for me as a customer, as opposed to the typical sorting by lo mein, fried rice, etc. But what makes Tang so amazing is its brown rice… for free. Show me another establishment that provides brown rice for no surcharge and I’ll show you a four-star review, at least.

Quick service, cheap and tasty food! The food trucks are very close to the building where I work. I like this one because the lady is super friendly and makes all sorts of substitutes for me upon request. I am a vegetarian and I usually get kungpao or cashew tofu, spicy with fried rice! On cold, rainy days I prefer the veg noodle soup, which is great. The portions are big so it’s about 1.5−2 meals for me.

If you have 15 – 20 minutes to wait, this food cart is worth going to once. The lady is really nice but she is pretty slow because she does all the work. I went there near opening time and there were only two people before me and I still had to wait twenty minutes for my food. Although everything is premade it can be as slow as yuekees. The reaosn is she has pots of different ingredients and do not have dishes really premade. For example she will have pots of cooked tofu, eggplant, and vegetables, but she needs to warm them up seperately then put them in the dish and pour sauce over it. It is comparatively healthier than other Chinese food charts in the area because they pour their sauce over the dish so you do not get a large dose of msg at once. The vegetables are still crunchy and do not taste or feel like mush. Do not get the curry sauce or the eggplant tofu because she puts the bland runny curry sauce on that. Also the tofu here fried. So do not get tofu if you do not like fried tofu.

My favorite food truck near work! I LOVE the eggplant tofu, the couple that owns the truck are incredibly kind, and the prices can’t be beat. I’ve also tried some other dishes and everything is delicious, fresh, and fast.

Fast service, cheap chinese food, and delicious. Perfect for lunch! I like their vegetable soup and eggplant with garlic sauce or just simple chicken and broccoli, not greasy at all.

This is my absolute favorite food truck hands down. It’s dirt cheap and the food is tasty. I’m a big fan of their soups, which run at either $ 1.50– $ 1.75, a steal. I’ve also gotten meals there which are less than $ 5. I’ve gotten both the chicken and tofu with mixed vegetables on brown rice and have been very pleased. The couple that it belongs to are very friendly and super fast. You get your food, which is always hot, in less than 5 minutes. This place is great!

Given the speed and the price of this cart, it is one of the best options for lunch around. And, I go there frequently. That said, the food is tasty, but objectively speaking, the quality is not that high The sauces are all very good, but the quality of the beef leaves something to be desired. The meat is tough and hard to chew.

For food truck Chinese food, this place is A-OK. The vegetables are pretty fresh, which is a rare find. Ditto for the perfectly edible shrimp. They’ll also let you substitute lo mein for rice, which rocks. All of this for $ 4.50 means I’ll be back.

She’s dependable and gets her eggplant fresh, plus as Beca M. pointed out, she’s FAST. I always substitute my rice with lo mein(no extra charge!) and get some shrimp eggplant combo. What’s most important to me is that along Spruce Street, there is some decent Chinese food(maybe she’s Cantonese, which would explain the way she cooks a little more…).

The only Chinese food truck I frequent for multiple reasons. 1) It’s reasonably priced 2) It’s fast 3) They’re friendly 4) It’s yum, yum tasty! I always get the General Tso’s Chicken(3.5/5stars), and I like it with fried rice on the side. It’s not anything out of this world, but it is rather scrumptious on a sunny day. I’m not saying it’s healthy food or anything, but it’s yummy food.

Cheap, consistent, hasn’t given me food poisioning. This is not haute cuisine, nor is it authentic. What is it? Probably my favorite ‘go-to’ chinese truck on Spruce. It’s got character, followed with an entertaining language barrier. How slow can one person cut egglan? Apparently, as slow as the guy at Tang’s. Yum yum.

My House Special Chicken consisted of some chicken deep fried with batter, boiled chicken(kinda dry), and a few green peppers and broccoli. At $ 4.50, it wasn’t a bad deal. However, it’s the first Chinese food truck that my colleague and I hit and we agreed that there have got to be better ones out there. He said two thumbs down, but I wasn’t that down on Tang’s. I say one thumb down.

Tang’s is another Chinese food truck on Penn’s campus. An alternative to Yue Kee’s, it’s a good substitute for someone who doesn’t want to deal with the cantankerous Yue Kee lady or the Yue Kee wait. Tang’s is so much faster than Yue Kee’s because they don’t stir-fry the food fresh for you on the spot. Nonetheless, their food still comes out piping hot and is quite delicious and fast. My favorite is the«egglan & tofu» followed closely by the«egglan and chicken». I love that purple vegetable! Get reacquainted with this delectable vegetable. Your mother would be proud. I can’t explain the personality difference. They have an extensive menu and almost all of their options are under $ 4. Wait time during lunch hour is ~15−20 mins from the time you get in line to food in hand.
