Located on the ground level of the Courtyard Marriott on the Navy Yard compound, The Bistro is the in house restaurant of choice for late night nibblers and those seeking something to eat for breakfast or lunch. There is a bartender available and televisions within viewing area if you choose to dine/drink at the bar. There are tables available in the instance you have kids or a larger group with you. Good experience, prices are a tad bit higher than if you actually went somewhere else but you do pay for convenience. On this visit, I ordered the buffalo hot wings(6 to an order with celery and carrot sticks on the side) and ranch dressing. Hassle free ordering and credit cards are accepted or you can charge it to your room if you are lodging there. No issues with parking and all of the common areas were clean.

They try to hype it up by saying it has a fresh fish option daily etc but their menu is pretty sub par. Food is bland. Coffee is not good — even though its starbucks. Service is on the slow end.

When this place opened up I could not wait to try the food here. Between avoiding eating at a couple of places, the minimal amount of food trucks around due to the season, and one place shutting down, Shop 543 at Urban Outfitters was my only option. With the Bistro at the Courtyard opening its doors, I was eager to see if I was going to have a viable option. I have been pretty pleased with the lunch. Depending on what you order it could be a bit pricey but overall nothing outrageous. It is not fancy JW Marriott food, but overall the quality is good. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the breakfast. If I was able to give .5 stars this review would be a 2.5. I made three attempts to have breakfast at The Bistro. I ordered takeout on my first attempt, which places some of the blame on my shoulders, because eggs do not travel well. Now, I have had egg sandwiches, and omelets, which I purchased from across town, and were still warm when I arrived at my job South Philly. The sourdough toast was not completely toasted, and the sausage patties were undercooked. Ok first impression with breakfast did not go as I hoped. On my second attempt I arrived at The Bistro at 9:30 craving French toast but, I did not realize breakfast serviced ended at 9:00. My third attempt was no better than the first; probably even worse. When I arrived the line was not long, but it was taking some time to move. There was only one person behind the counter helping everyone. After 10 minutes, help arrived just as I got to the counter. I ordered the French toast this time since I was not able to satisfy my craving on my second attempt and I have to say; disappointing. For starters the presentation was awful. The menu states thick-cut pieces of bread. It looked as if someone took regular slices of bread from a supermarket purchased loft, stepped on it, and tossed it on a plate. What was lacking in presentation was not made up for in taste. There was absolutely no flavor to this dish, something you would have realized if you could have gotten past the fact that it was nearly inedible due to half of my dish being completely undercooked. I know they were in a rush, but the dish was a disaster. I was hoping this was just a disorganized morning. Right now I say if you are looking for lunch, The Bistro is suitable. For breakfast, think I will continue to look elsewhere.
