Lola Bean, I’m going to miss you. Today is your last day of business. I’ll miss your tasty beverages and treats, genuinely nice employees, and community atmosphere. I wish you luck with any future endeavors. Insert sad face here. you’re officially closed as of 1pm today.

Such a cute hole in the wall coffee place! They truly know how to get a mocha right. It’s just the right amount of that chocolate-y taste! Usually when I get coffee it’s either not enough chocolate or too hot to taste the mocha. This place gets it right whether it’s hot or iced!

Ah, Lola Bean, I almost didn’t come in your establishment because of the long, dark shadow cast by that other new coffee shop — giant, soul crushing as it is — that has shoved it’s way into your street, and very close too! However, I love your coffee, atmosphere, free wifi and excellent staff. Seriously — the guy working the counter was so nice, helpful, cheerful — something I haven’t been experiencing at most shops around Fishtown. The food selection is also very good and everything is labeled and listed! A reason why I went in and immediately left original spot(aforementioned large chain shop). It saddens me to think how this new neighbor has affected the business of smaller coffee shops in the area, but take heart! Continue doing what you do best and you will gain loyal, return customers such as myself.

The only place in the area open at 6:30! First time user, was greeted with a smile by the nice girl behind the counter. Ordered a premade bagel sam which they grilled on a panini grill for me. Coffee was delicious too. I will go back for more.

This is such a cute establishment! The coffee is great, and the baked goods are delicious. The service is friendly and efficient. The seating is wonderful, and everywhere appears clean. The windows make the environment very bright, and I suppose it is the location, but it doesn’t get too crowded here!

Solid cappuccino friendly staff. What was a nice surprise was all the veggie snacks they have. Yum

While I don’t spend too much time in Fishtown, The Lola Bean might just give me another reason to do so. While I loved the atmosphere of the Milkcrate Café, this place has a totally different vibe, but in a good way. It was Labor Day, and I had plans to go to North Wildwood with some friends. Since they had to make a detour on their way to Frankford Terminal where I planned to meet them, and I had already gone to wait for the El when I found this out, I got off at Girard Station and decided to look for a place to sit down for a bit and enjoy a leisurely iced coffee drink. Milkcrate was a few blocks farther from the station than this shop, so I decided I’d head over to The Lola Bean and experience something new. The barista was friendly and fun to chat with, my drink was enjoyable, and I could easily find a place to sit. While the bulk of the menu is beverages, they do offer some bagged snacks and food options as displayed in their case. Not only that, I didn’t even have to walk back to the subway because the 5 bus stopped right down the block and took me right where I needed to go! I will definitely stop in again next time I find myself in Fishtown!

The best coffee I have ever had in my life. Like seriously. You people have no idea. I must have been to over 4,341,917 coffee shops in my lifetime and nothing even remotely comes close to the quality here. Tip: Get the iced Americano.

Best coffee in the area and at reasonable prices. I’m addicted to the iced americano which is nice and strong. I also often come here for a quick sandwich lunch– simple but tasty. They don’t have a kitchen so the sandwiches are prepped and in the case in the morning and pressed when you order. They have a tofu bahn mi that’s great although I usually ask them not to press it so it’s more traditional style.

This place is super cute looking. I recently stopped in to check it out and decided to go with the Lola-chino. It’s a mix of my favorite things — coffee, chocolate, caramel and milk. The design on top was pretty and a nice touch. It tasted delicious but was a little bit lukewarm, rather than hot, which is a pet peeve of mine. The service was friendly, but very sloooooow. So slow, even though there were only a few people in front of me in line, I decided to go check out that cool store Jinxed next door. Luckily it was there and entertained me while I waited. I didn’t try the food, but the food options looked very tasty.

This place is pretty small. lacks slightly in «charm» and feels a little static. There isn’t much in the way of food, but the coffee’s are decent. It’s not close enough to me to make it worthwhile to ever come here.

Our go to neighborhood coffee spot. La colombe coffee(5 stars for that alone), cute and delicious lil sandwiches and some pastries. They also serve tea. In the summer the windows are open. Cheerful and enjoyable atmosphere. No dogs allowed inside but u can tie ur pup up outside and they provide a lil water bowl. LACOLOMBECOFFEE!!! GOO!!!

All around great little place! I love the succulent gardens outside, friendly staff, great coffee/espresso selection on the menu, the occasional(my favorite) vegan muffins for breakfast, you can’t go wrong. The space is quite small so it’s hard to maneuver around if people are waiting in line or in my case have a stroller in tow.

Baskets of plants invite you in to this charming little café on Frankford just adjacent to Fishtown. Once inside, the friendly staff welcomes you and efficiently takes your order. There’s a good array of espresso/coffee drinks on the menu, as well as few light food selections — mainly sandwiches, soups, bagels, and muffins. Note that the bagels themselves are brought in daily fresh from New York and seem to be quite popular as they were gone by 10 am on the morning I dropped by… So get there early if you want ‘em!

The coffee here is solid and the baristas are friendly. The espressos pulls could use a little refining – sometimes my americano’s a touch bitter. The ambience here isn’t the greatest, but it’s a quiet place to do some work. Could use a better selection of sweet pastries. Still, and maybe it’s just the shiny, new feel of the place, but it’s not my favorite coffee spot in the world. I’d sooner roll to Rocket Cat or Milkcrate. They also don’t freshly grind their decaf, which is a bummer.

This place is super cute! A friend of mine and I went here on a Wednesday around 5:30. I got a cup of tea and a vegan cookie(I’m not a vegan, though). The cookie was really tasty and the tea was… well, it was tea. The staff was extremely nice and it was exactly what I want out of a little coffee shop like this. Will definitely return!

Cute coffee shop with a clean shabby chic retro feel. Very friendly and polite employees! Great iced coffee, nice music, and I love the big open bay windows.

Not that they need it, but I enjoy this place so much that I felt guilty for not Unilocaling them! Lola bean coffee house is simply great for coffee, atmosphere(friendly) and super delicious food(breads to die for). Yeah, the warmed panini with turkey, cheese and the MOSTAMAZING carmelized onions kinda had me way into the mouth orgasm zone. (If I smoked, I wouldve lit up afterwards, for sure)

It’s kind of funny — there was a time about a year and a half ago where I was feeling down on Rocket Cat being the only coffeehouse in Fishtown(excluding NoLibs). Fast forward to Milk Crate Café, Coffeehouse(I will find you hardest to find coffeehouse on Unilocal!), and here opening within a fairly short time of each other; and it almost feels like someone was listening to me. But with the vibrant and eclectic coffeehouse scene that Fishtown has thus become, I consider that a victory for all and not just myself. And I view Lola Bean as one of those spots to watch in growth. I first heard about about the Bean on Thrillist and Meal Ticket and marveled over the prospect of grabbing some fresh Au Fournil pastries and eventually soup over a nice cup of joe(yet another La Colombe house in Philly, but in this case its a welcome sort of imperfection). and when I did so I found it to be a welcome occasion. It’s exterior has a vast number of windows, and one of them overlooks a welcoming looking side garden. While it makes here the perfect coffeehouse destination for gorgeous spring and summer days, it also makes it kind of sombering during dismal fall and winter days. But at least it gives you the opportunity to warm up to soups like potato leek and chicken matzo ball. throw in things like carrot cake squares, and red velvet whoopie pies; and you have plenty of reasons to indulge your sweet tooth. The Lola Bean also has some pretty interesting art viewings, and sells some albums from some local favorites.
