Tim’s of Philadelphia

I walked past this salon going to and from work and finally decided to stop in and inquire about getting my hair done. My hair is 100% natural (no relaxer) and about 26 inches long (mid back). Harmony, one of the stylists, answered all my questions and I booked an appointment with her. She did a wonderful job on my hair and now I’m a regular customer. It’s hard to find someone knowledgeable enough to deal with natural hair, without using excessive heat or trying to «mold» my hair. Harmony also did my daughter’s hair for Prom and it turned out beautifully.
The atmosphere in the salon is always pleasant and upbeat. I would definitely recommend Harmony and Tim’s of Philadelphia Salon to anyone looking for a new stylist/​salon.

After years of passing this salon, I finally decided to give it a try. I was sorely disappointed.
I went in to get my eyebrows waxed and shaped. There were several concerns with the service:
1) There was not an appropriate chair for the procedure. I’ve had my eyebrows waxed for years, and always, they provide a special chair that leans back with neck support. Not so here. I was placed in a regular chair and asked to slouch down so that my neck was leaning on the back. This was really uncomfortable, especially as it took 20+ minutes for the procedure. My back and neck were in a lot of pain when I left and still hurt today.
2) The employee who did the procedure did not seem to know what she was doing. I explained what shape I was going for (very thin, arched brows). She said she understood. It took her 15 minutes to complete the process and when I looked at the results, my brows were still bushy and unkempt. I had to ask her at least 3 more times to make them thinner.
3) Finally, I decided that they were «thin enough.» My back was killing me from slouching in a chair for over twenty minutes and the skin under my brows was raw. When I got home, I noticed that she had ONLY waxed the under portion of my brows and left the top of the brow alone, which made them look unfinished and uneven. Upon further inspection, the waxing job she had done was uneven — you could actually see where she waxed every portion. I was severely disappointed with her work, especially as it’s on my face and not exactly easy to conceal.
4) On my way home, I noticed that she not only left wax on my face, but also got it in my hair! I don’t even have long, flowing locks (where that could be understandable) — the sides of my head are shaved! How does that happen?
I’m so displeased with her work that I am going to have to go somewhere else to see if they can clean it up. I’m terribly disappointed with this salon and would not recommend it to anyone!

I have been going here for a very long time. They have great service & the stylist are so friendly. They really work to provide their customers with what they want & they offer so many different services.
