Top This Contractors

First, I needed HVAC duct replacement AND someone to replace the wastewater stack in my house. Got a quote of $ 1200 for both services from these guys, which was the lowest by far. I scheduled the work, and they arrived early to start. I was quite pleased until the head contractor handed me a formal contract — which only stated that the missing ductwork for the first floor of my house was to be installed. The idiot who showed up to do the ductwork (Did I mention he brought his middle school-​aged kid to the job?!) had the gall to insist that there was no existing way to heat the second floor, despite that obviously being false. I had to show him where these heaters were like he was a particularly dim five year old.
Afterwards, this jerk tells me that replacing this ductwork is going to be ever so involved (a patent lie,) and was floored when I showed him written estimates proving his stupidity in this matter. He told me that he couldn’t beat the price by more competent types, but he could fix the stackwork for $ 950. I told him that I had another offer for $ 800, which he thought about and decided to match. It took about four hours to replace the stackwork, and then they left.
Five minutes later, I found out that my toilet still leaked through the ceiling, and then called these guys back for not doing their due diligence. After finding out that the toilet leaked, they stood there staring at it and telling me that it was a simple wax seal. However, as I found out later, the bolts were rusted together on the toilet tank and I don’t have the tools to remove them. As I write this, I’m currently working on getting another plumber who knows what they’re doing to get back here and replace the tank and wax seal for the toilet itself, since these idiots couldn’t be arsed to do this — and didn’t bother to check their work. (Oh, and they also never bothered to re-​solder a cold water faucet that they’d also promised to take care of.) Nice work, guys!
