I can give any stars to shady contractors that steal local hard earn dollars from families just trying to hang on in this day and age. They said I needed a new roof due to a leak. So I trusted them because a friend referred them. 1 week later still leaking. Vincent sends one of his drunken workers to repair it. 6 months later my walls are caving in due to the same leak. So $ 2000 later I now have $ 10,000 in damages. When I called Vince he had no remorse and simply cursed at me. Not even offering to look at it. Won’t return any calls. Now I must involve an attorney. Please don’t waste your hard earned dollars on this low life thieve.

Long story short — They don’t show up for their scheduled appointments. They have made three appointments and failed to show up to two of them and 4 hours late to one.
Incredibly unprofessional. They have not offered any explanation for their lack of wasting my time for three days. I would not recommend them and I will not allow my landlord to use them for any repairs in my apartment from here on out.
Stay away from this business at all costs.

We had an emergency leak at our house. We used Unilocal to find a highly rated contractor to perform the repairs. Var was rated 3.5 stars and the reviews were decent. In hind site, the good reviews were probably from friends.
He called us back to schedule a time to come out and give us an estimate. He stopped by without the proper personnel to give an estimate. He told us not to worry and he would come back the next day with all the proper people and equipment, it’s been a few days and we haven’t heard from him. Shame on us for relying on him.

I loved how VAR fixed up my backyard. I was having water come in the basement due to the pavement not being flesh up against the wall. I also had a lot of cracks, etc. in the cement. VAR took my old cement through my little breezeway one bucket at a time and repaved it for me and it looks great and is functional. I had to give them a few extra suggestions, like putting a curb at the edge so that it was level with my neighbors yard, etc. but I was happy with the outcome.
This year I hired them to do my roof under my third floor deck because I was having a leak under it in my bathroom. I was upset about the damage they did to my deck. They damaged it in over ten spots. Are you serious? You didn’t even tell me that you thought that since it was nailed instead of screws that you might make it look like an animal attacked it? Then a few days after the «repair» it rained. My leak was worse than it ever was before. You said it may be my neighbors house needed to be re-​pointed or repaired and then you stood them up too. Over a month later, you still haven’t fixed it. I want my money back.

My house in Fishtown was in desperate need of some repairs, including a slow sink drain, a leak in our roof and some plaster repair work in our front room (which was HORRIBLE).
Vince from Var came in and gave me an estimate and lickety-​split they were making an appointment to fix my poor house’s problems! Leaky roof is no longer leaking and my kitchen sink drains like a dream. They did a fantastic job on the plaster repair, which included putting up drywall and chairrailing and wainscoting (at least I think that is what it’s called.. it’s the square boxes made with thin wood pieces). Whatever it is called it looks awesome. The workers involved me in all decisions regarding the details so the final outcome would be exactly what I wanted.
My only regret is that I decided to do the painting myself. For the time I spent on painting, I should have just had Var Construction do it for me (silly girl).
They were prompt, NEAT, and very nice. I have a little one at home too and they did their best to keep the noise level down.

Extremely professional and polite. Work was completed as promised. Able to handle everything from electrical work to HVAC systems. Would definitely use their service again!
