This stand offers cheap eats. But I do have to admit if your in the terminal market, there’s plenty of better food to spend your money and calories on. There was no line and I was starving out of my mind, so I picked up a few platters from this stand. If I wasn’t so hungry I would have waited in line to get food from a different stand. I can see why this stand doesn’t generate a bigger crowd. The food is good but not great. I got the crab stick platter and the lake trout sandwich platter. The crab stick platter was not as breaded as I would have liked them to be. The fries are frozen and fried. I personally am not a fan of their fries. Their fries are dry and not crispy. But it’s worth getting the fries in a platter because you only pay about a dollar more. It’s a better value. As far as the lake trout platter, the lake trout is juicy. As far as the service, the food came out fast and the employee was friendly.

My visit to Wan’s Seafood yesterday was to find a whole Atlantic salmon. My intent was to clean and portion the whole fish into salmon steaks for freezing. Since I didn’t have much success salmon shopping at the Italian Market in Philadelphia several weeks prior, I figured it would be an easy score at Reading Terminal Market. Wan’s has a wide selection of fresh fish from scallops and shrimp to local and imported whole fish, fish fillets and fish steaks. They also sell a large variety of cooked fish. Assuming they have the fish you want in their many showcases or large walk-in refrigerator, they will custom prepare your fish to order(or sell you the whole fish to portion at home). While Wan’s was out of the whole 12 – 14 pound Atlantic Salmon fish, I did buy a half salmon already boned, to cut into salmon fillet portions for the freezer. Wan was happy to pack the salmon on ice and hold it in his refrigerator until it was closer to closing to preserve the quality on my train ride home. While I’m not a fish monger, I’ve purchased enough fresh fish to know good from bad. I was impressed with the wide selection and the freshness that was obvious in the fish that they had out for sale.
