A short and sweet review for one of my favorite new spots: This is literally right by my house. Like, steps away. I pass it always, and have never went in. On a cold lazy night, we decided to try it. I AMSOGLAD. The place is about as big as my bedroom. What it lacks in size, it totally makes up for in intimacy and cuisine. The staff was super friendly; a quality I put under the microscope at every place I dine. We called and asked for a table, and someone was waiting to seat us when we arrived. The menu is simple, consisting of soups, sandwiches, salad and a few entrées. There is a case of rotational freshly baked sweets, and a giant case of cheeses. Now, anywhere that serves cheese plates is already high up there in my book. Is there anything bad about great cheese? I cannot think of a single thing. W&F takes it a step further and is BYOB. I don’t know about you, but a place where I can bring my own dranks and enjoy cheese? YAS Highlights: //Mac&cheese// oooooo baby, it’s something special. //lemon tart//enough said //Cobb salad//fresh and easily enough for two 5 stars for you, sweet tiny W&F.

I really enjoyed this place. My girlfriend had a nice little brunch here for her birthday and we all had a great time. There were 8 of us out in the«garden», and it was a lovely little setup. The food was delicious. We tasted the Eggs NOLA, the blueberry french toast, the chocolate chip scones, and the QE2(as well as some french pressed coffee). Portions definitely weren’t big enough, but it wasn’t crazy expensive like other brunch places so that can be forgiven. I particularly loved the challah toast. So crispy and delicious. The service left a bit to be desired, but I’m willing to forgive them a bit because this place is tiny and we were a large party. Several basic requests went totally ignored, and our waitress referred to avocado as «avo», but at this point I guess I’m just being petty. All in all a nice experience and I’m glad that we went.

This place is a hidden gem. Always ask to sit outside, you won’t be disappointed with the courtyard in the back filled with a massive tree, potted plants, small tables and a water feature. We have never had a bad meal at W+F. If you love bacon and mac & cheese, there isn’t a question of what you should get. We always like to try their signature cheese board, which has never disappointed. Servers(Eric in particular) are stellar and really know their craft. Always friendly and the owner comes around every once in a while and asks how everything is. Just a really nice atmosphere and the food is light, refreshing and delicious. It is one of our favorite spots in the city.

Sad I couldn’t give this a 5 star, but the grilled cheese was just not up to par! And that’s their speciality!!! Anyway, we get there, it’s a very cute part of old city, and we go through a corridor to get to the outdoor seating. It’s a really cute area, but pretty small. I didn’t see the inside seats so I can’t comment on that. The menu seemed pretty good(funny too– the Betty Draper sandwich comes with a side of candy cigarettes). I was excited because this place specializes in grilled cheese, and I’m roaming philly to find the best one I can.(Spoiler: it’s not here!) I ordered the grilled cheese with Gouda, honey, and apple slices. This combination had a LOT of potential. The presentation was really cute, with the sandwiches wedged on wide plates. However, the«salad» it came with was kind of pointless. It was just slightly oiled spring mix with no bite or flavor to it. I guess just to look pretty? Mine also came with the lemon-Parmesan potatoes, but again, lots of potential but just bland. Not crispy enough either. So the grilled cheese itself: when I think of a grilled cheese, I picture the outside of the bread slightly caramelized with butter and melted cheese, from being grilled. In a pan. Like a grilled cheese. This one, however, was basically cheese melted between slices of thick, over toasted bread. Not buttery or melty, but straight-up dry. The outside texture was pretty horrible actually, like bread-crumb level dryness. The cheese-to-bread ratio was way low, making each mouthful mainly crumbs and crust. My bright and unique toppings could barely be tasted with this overwhelming crumbly bread!!! By the time I got to the second half the cheese wasn’t melting at all anymore. Very very sad. I will say though, I might come back here again for brunch sometime because the environment is really really cute. I might try a cheese platter or salad. But don’t expect a good grilled cheese.

I was underwhelmed with Wedge and Fig for brunch/late lunch on a Sunday. I was grateful there was no wait for a party of three at around 2:00 p.m. in the small space. I got the Daryl Hall and it was light and refreshing, the cucumber was a nice touch. My dining mates got the Eggs NOLA, and that dish looked pretty good. The grilled cheese«brunch bar» seemed like a rip off… every additional item is added on for a price. Overall the menu was not that impressive regarding variety and brunch selection, but the few dishes on the menu were tasty. Regarding our service, we weren’t ready to order the first time our server came by, and then it took the server almost 20 minutes to come back! Some perks are that it is BYOB, and has garden seating. I don’t think I’ll be back though, it just wasn’t that great.

I wish I could give this place more stars. If it were based solely on food, I would– 4 or maybe even 5 stars. But alas, it is not. My husband and I both ordered the bacon lattice mac & cheese pie. It was phenomenal, as most of the other reviews say– maybe even the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had. I consider myself a bit of a mac & cheese connoisseur, so I don’t say that lightly. However, the service was lacking. Things started out fine, but our waiter disappeared after dropping our food off. No one checked in with us to see how everything was. We finished our food and sat for a few more minutes. No one– not our waiter or anyone else– stopped at our table. Finally, I asked another waitress if she could possibly get our check since our waiter had vanished into thin air. She said, «oh, sorry– he went on break and forgot to tell us he still had a table.» She then brought us our check, apologizing again. I was disappointed not only in our server, but the rest of the wait staff. This place is tiny, and our table was smack in the middle of the restaurant. The other servers practically had to lean over us to get to their other tables. Somebody should have noticed that we were sitting there, looking around for our waiter for probably 15 or 20 minutes. I don’t live in Philly– we were there for a weekend trip– but honestly, even as good as the food was, I probably wouldn’t eat here again even if I did live nearby.

A great little brunch place in Philadelphia! It has the charming vibe of a little restaurant in old city. It is a bit cramped if you sit inside, which is my only problem, but the times that we have dined in the courtyard in the back have been delightful! If you get a table in the courtyard, it’s worth it! I always get the strata; with spinach and layers of cheese it’s very very delicious. I’ve also had their omelets and those are tasty as well. Their fresh orange juice and coffee pair well with everything else!

Stopped by on a Sunday around noon for brunch/lunch. Place is a bit small but we(a group of 4) only had to wait about 7 – 10 minutes to be seated. It seemed like there was only one server(maybe two?) and she took a while to attend to us, but she was very sweet. For starters we got mac and cheese and tomato basil bisque, both of which were great. The star of the show was eggs NOLA. I loved that one of the eggs was on top of a biscuit rather than the typical English muffin. It was very rich & tasty. More places should serve eggs benedict on biscuits! It was the last day of our short trip to Philly, and I’m so glad we ended up here for our last meal. :)

If you want something cheesy, you come here. Don’t even look at other menus, come here. Creating your own grilled cheese was amazing here and you can pick multiple delicious cheeses to add. I got one with havarti, gruyère, fig jam, fried egg and onions which was incredibly good. fig jam does some marvelous things to a grilled cheese. I’m happy this came with a salad to balance it out as well. The options are a bit overwhelming and we had to all concentrate for a while before figuring out our perfect grilled cheeses. We were all very happy with each of ours. We got a few desserts to try and mac n cheese as well which was as amazing as you’d expect at a cheese oriented place. I would give this 5 stars but the menu was a bit confusing, a few more bread options would have been nice for such a customizable sandwich menu, and prices could be a little nicer to you. Cheese quality was as good as it gets though and that’s what’s important. Servers were nice and did have that very casual byo feel. Would love to come for the outside area sometime!

Yes Please! First thing’s first– one person in our party of 5 was running about a half an hour late due to inclement weather. Our server politely informed us that the kitchen closes at 9(we had a 7:30 reservation) but I didn’t feel pressured to hurry up and order. Don’t be fooled by what looks like a pretty limited menu. It doesn’t matter how many other options they have because A) mac & cheese and B) make your own grilled cheese bar. Done and done. We got the mac & cheese entrée to share as an appetizer, and I’m glad we opted for the larger portion because anything smaller would have been not enough mac for 5 wine guzzling cheese lovers. It was creamy and delicious and came with a much welcomed simply dressed side salad. Entrée wise, everyone opted to create their own grilled cheese. I went for whole wheat/havarti/whole grain mustard/avocado/grilled onions/ham. Oh my god it was so good. Drooling slightly. The worst part about this whole experience was having to choose from all the goodness. Several other versions made their way to our table– someone made a version of a breakfast sammy with bacon, there was another one with fig spread and a fried egg… ugh. What a delectable cheese fest this was. Desserts proved to be equally immaculate– we tried the chocolate lava cake, a pound cake special, and the coffee mousse chocolate contraption. I will say prices were a little steep for the other entrée options, but that meatloaf was calling to me. I would for sure come back.

Stumbled upon this place, as I was in town for a convention. Thank goodness! Amazing — the best mac and cheese I ever had. Gooey, cheesey with a crunchy top. Amazeballs! The sandwiches were also to die for. And the way you go into the cute little garden in the back is magical. Also, most definitely get dessert! All are scrumptious.

My boyfriend and I came here for brunch on Sunday and it was packed! It’s a small little place with very crowded table set ups but they make the most of what they have. Most of the time, our waitress couldn’t even get to us because we were in the corner haha. I’m kind of slightly upset I forgot to ask to sit in the garden especially since it was almost 60 degrees out :/ Anyways, we got the eggs nola and bacon lattice Mac and cheese, classics! Even though I’m not a big fan of eggs, the eggs nola was soooo good. The eggs were cooked perfectly and everything complimented each other so well. The thing I loved the most was the potatoes I don’t know what they did to them but they were bomb! My boyfriend is a big fan of cheese and he loved the Mac and cheese. He couldn’t stop going on about how good the cheese tasted and how that was the best Mac and cheese he ever had so that was a huge hit for us too! The staff were super polite and friendly. Our waitress sold the specials really well but we were too full to try anything else. My only complaint is that my glass had a lipstick stain on it but no biggie since I don’t really drink water. I’m definitely coming back to try their specials and that garden!

They have a pie. Made of mac and cheese. Topped with a lattice of thick-cut bacon. I’m pretty sure I can just end my review there, but I won’t. Aside from the rich, cheesy goodness of the mac and cheese pie, this is a great go-to spot for brunch and lunch in Old City. It’s a BYO, so come prepared! One of my friends went with the Eggs NOLA which I was told was delicious and based on what other Unilocalers are saying, it seems this is the consensus. I had the egg strata which was delicious and huge(and tasted just as good leftover, which was a pleasant surprise). In terms of ambiance, it’s a tiny little restaurant with a view into the large kitchen. They have an outdoor garden that’s open in the summer. The staff was great! There are a ton of menu items(more mac and cheese, salads and sandwiches) that I will certainly be back to try!

Great place for an inexpensive and exquisite bite to eat! It’s byob so bring that along! THe shackamaxon with creamy bruce cheese, fresh turkey, mango and arugula on panini style toasted challah bread is really tasty & comes with a small mixed green salad on the side, just right. The Mac n cheese is quite good. My boy really liked it, but I don’t remember what cheeses were in there, it did have a nice bread crumb topping which was good. My wife had the meatball flatbread, she loved it, plenty of flavor, but the flatbread itself was lacking to me, might have been a tad stale. The figs were superb as well. Overall this quaint spot in old city was a great find for us and if you’re in the area definitely give it a shot!

Who doesn’t love a good brunch? I was visiting a friend in Philly and he recommended this place as the brunch spot in old city. Initially walking in, this brunch spot was super tiny and I was wondering if we were going to wait for a spot, however staring back into the kitchen, I saw this open space that looked like a garden. Having a small party, we managed to get a spot in the«garden» The host told us to walk out and take the side door next to the entrance. It opened up to this long ominous hallway with christmas lights lining the ceiling. Exiting the hallway, it opened up to the garden and tables for people brunching. It was pretty breathtaking. Going into the food, we got a large pot of the coffee which I would highly recommend as the coffee here is one of the best cups of coffee I’ve ever tasted. As for the brunch, I ordered the EggsNOLA, which is Wedge + Fig’s take on an eggs benedict. It was poached eggs served on top of homemade cornbread with hollandaise sauce. YUMM. The sides were maybe a few leaves of arugula and potato cubes, so pretty paltry but that’s ok. My friend got the french toast which looked and smelled pretty good. As for the service, the waitress was super knowledgeable about the menu as well as the daily specials however was really slow with deliverance of the orders. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our coffee and another 30 minutes for our food. It was discouraging to see the table right next to us sit down after us and leave before us. Tip: You can BYOW(Bring Your Own Wine) which you can bring your own personal wine! Tip 2: Order a cheese plate, I hear that it is delicious and has a wide variety of smells and flavor. I’m definitely getting one next time.

Delicious! Went on a Friday night with some friends and everything was great. The staff was super friendly and helpful if we had questions. There is a little garden out back which is a beautiful setting for dinner. All of the food was incredible. We had the Coronation Chicken Salad and the Mac and cheese. Both were great! Can’t wait to go back to try the grilled cheese. And it’s BYOB!

This place is amazing. Their mac + cheese bacon lattice is heaven. I had to share that though. Perfect for two people or one very hungry person. It is literally a pie filled with mac and cheese topped with bacon. The bacon was perfect. Wasn’t burnt or rubbery. The mac and cheese was so cheesy and warm. The place is small but it’s cute and inviting. The staff is great and friendly. Price is great. Definitely give this place a try!

I have been agonizing over the review so long that the owner(Lisa) now knows me by name. I haven’t had a thing from Wedge + Fig yet that I didn’t love. The brownies(triple chocolate, $ 4) are fudgy, drizzled in chocolate sauce, and perfect for adding to an ice cream sundae. Mac and cheese is $ 6 and absolutely worth it – there are three cheeses in the dish, one of which is a bleu(creates a bit of grease once baked), and the flavor is phenomenal. The sandwiches/salads are made with fresh and local ingredients and done to order. Lunches(sandwiches and salads) are mostly between $ 11 – 15, so it’s more of a splurge than an everyday place. However, I carry their«buy 10, get 1 free» card, so it will pay off… one day. Cheese is featured liberally on most of the offerings – try the Coronation Chicken Salad(#1 fave), the QE2, or the Shackamaxon(sharp cheddar and dried fruit) – and the sandwiches come with a small salad. Another great thing about Wedge + Fig is the cheese counter. It’s small by DiBruno Brothers standards, but they pack the case with tons of different cheese and the little placards on each piece explain clearly the cheese, the flavor profile, what animal produced the milk, and if it’s raw/pasteurized. I spend minutes at a time with my nose pressed to the glass trying to decide what to get while I wait for my lunch to be made. I absolutely love this little place and I wish I could afford to come here every day. The 20-ish seats are packed close together and the entire place is pretty much full every time I visit. I am eagerly awaiting the day when the seasonal back garden opens up for seating(summer can’t come soon enough).
