I’m a seasoned Philadelphia cyclist. I called every shop that carries the make/model I want to replace my old beaut of a single speed. The old girl has seen a lot, from car doors, to trolley tracks, to one hit and run that left me with a broken jaw, but I digress. The only one that was kind and helpful(or even picked up the phone/returned my call) was Alex at wolf. He helped me out, double checking for my size in the basement and on the floor and even called to check at firehouse, in case they had a new or used of the bike I wanted. He called me back in about a ½ an hour, and even though they didn’t have it I’m stopping in tomorrow to order my new baby, because being nice goes a long way. Side note: homie even apologized for even big man bike mechanic that gets all machismo and doesn’t trust you know what size tube you need, when I mentioned how rare it is to have such a nice experience with a bike shop employee. Cheers to you, Alex.

Saw the owner toss a kids bike out into the street because he was mad and the kid was rude. Kids will be kids. Assholes will be assholes. Great merch tho.

Checked out my bike for free and helped me with lock selection. Super chill, quick visit, very helpful. Nice to see kids were welcome there to tune up their bikes and hangout. Thanks for preserving West Philly!

Bought my bike here 2 years ago. It’s a great ride and a really nice fit. The staff at Wolf & Firehouse are very knowledgable, nice, and not pushy or pretentious. They are the types who save u from spending money unnecessarily and have your best interests in mind when recommending bikes and gear. The bike is almost 30 years old and we’ve been in a few spills but it has been incredibly durable, efficient, and fun to ride. The staff recommended this bike for me to be best fit for my size and riding ability. They got it dead on. Very pleased.

Took my bike in for a tune up. The staff was efficient in assessing the work that needed to be done. I’m on a tight budget, and they were very honest about which repairs were needed now and which could wait. No high pressure. The repairs were finished ahead of their estimated schedule as well. Win! I’ll be taking my bike back there for the remainder of the repairs for sure.

Sophie was really helpful in helping me fix up a very old bike and make it awesome. You know how sometimes at bike shops you sort of feel intimidated to ask questions because bike shop employees can be elitist? Sophie was not like this at all. She was knowledgable in helping me figure out what was right for the bike, what I wanted, and how to fit it into my price range. She spent considerable time with me calculating estimates and really seemed stoked to help me make my dream bike. Initially when I went there I was thinking of buying a bike and the guy(he has glasses) was very helpful. I also saw another employee with glasses and longer black hair helping out a group of kids. Overall everyone seemed really nice and helpful there.

I just bought a new(and very reasonably priced) bike from Wolf Cycles today and had an awesome experience. Note: they are part of Firehouse Bicycles. On my first visit, I was given a general education about bike purchasing(at my request), and test rode some new and used models. They encourage used bikes and are not out to get your money. Both folks at the shop are super knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I had them bring over a bike from Firehouse, which they did in two days time, and I ended up purchasing that bike several days later. When it came to selecting extra gear(lock, helmet, allen tool for adjusting the seat), they didn’t at all push expensive options and gave very good recommendations. I actually opted for the nicer lock and helmet, because it’s worth protecting both my awesome new bike and my noggin’. You also get a free beer glass with purchase, with Firehouse and Wolf logos. It’s pretty awesome swag. I highly recommend these guys! They do great things for the community and clearly care about bikes. If you’re in West Philly, stop by and check them out.

Nice enough, but when I bought a new BMX bike for my son, the pedal fell off on the first ride. Interestingly, a few years ago when the former owners had fixed a flat, the wheel of that bike came off while pedaling across Lancaster right in front of the place. Weird. Nothing like this has ever happened anywhere else. Haunted? Update: The place was taken over by the anarchists who run the shop at 52nd and Baltimore. Thank God! +1
