Me and my friend went here to use a groupon, it seemed nice at first with the cute café theme but it ended up being a disaster. After they FINALLY took our order we waited over 40 minutes when there were only 4 other customers in the entire place. Our order came out wrong two times and a party of four that sat next to us left 30 minutes later when no one ever came to even take a drink order. You only go once.

wasn’t impressed at all with any aspect of it. I tried to order one of their«specialty» drinks mid day only to be told they were out,(what kind of coffee shop runs out of coffee stuff mid day?) so I just got a latte and it was bland and weak. My friend got an americano, and it was so weak we still needed coffee afterwards. Gross coffee at a coffee shop is never a good thing. The décor was ew, and the spot was dead. Not sure what they are trying to do here, but regardless of if I live once, I certainly am only going here once.

I’m bucking the trend a bit here. For a coffee shop, they seem to be A-OK in my book. I haven’t sat and eaten, but the times I’ve stopped in for coffee, it’s been quite pleasant. «It’s just coffee» you might say, how can they screw that up. Well, there are plenty of places that make terrible coffee so it’s always a nice change for me when a place does it well. The prices seem in line with anything else in the neighborhood and they take Level Up. Score! So they have an unfortunate name. Get over it. Have a cup of coffee and enjoy yourself already.

Don’t come here if you like fast service, decent prices, large portions, fluffy omelettes, or warm eggs. Please notify the definers of the English language that mixed fruit means a small slice of cantaloupe and three grapes. However, they do create a sense of unity by having the entire restaurant share one bottle of ketchup. They were also kind enough to pepper my mixed fruit.

I haven’t eaten here, but as a coffee shop YOLO needs a lot of work. They carry Green Street coffee which is not as good quality as Counter Culture that was featured in Odd Fellows. When YOLO first opened, they advertised that they will continue the«coffee bar» setup Odd Fellows café had offering a selection of coffees for slow pours and this is not yet set up. I had an espresso and it was bitter(which is probably due to the Green Street coffee used). Finally, the coffee is also more expensive than your average coffee shop. The space here used to be Odd Fellows café. Odd Fellows definitely had its problems(especially with food), but Odd Fellows featured some of the best coffee in the city. Coffee aficionados should look elsewhere at other shops such as Elixir.

Went to breakfast there yesterday morning with a 50% off Groupon. The place is clean and stark and had a couple tables occupied. We got a friendly greeting as we walked in. They had nice(not too loud) music and great looking muffins, etc. at the counter. These are their strongest points. The rest needs work! — The menu pricing is perplexing: $ 6.50 for oatmeal??? the same as $ 6.50 for eggs, bacon and toast. Most of the items seemed overpriced for a neighborhood place(pretentious and presumptuous?). — Coffee great and the food was OK… We were there for breakfast because of their advertising, but they had no jelly. Not a big thing, they had honey. — As we left, we asked why they didn’t have any specials. They said yes, they had specials listed on the board on the street, BUT they were not listed on the board on the wall and were not on the menu AND the waiter did not mention them???(Duh?) — The service is alright(aside from the ‘special’s’ not being mentioned!) …There’s something ‘off’ about this place… sort of a ‘vacant, empty’ feeling. — We won’t be going back… NOTE: We walked by the relatively new ‘Green Eggs’(13th& Locust) about 2 blocks away. It was jammed packed and alive… and we can always depend on good food and good value for your money there.(There’s several in town.) That’s where we’ll go next time.

Good coffee, fine breakfast in a very cute, cozy atmosphere. Staff was very nice and cheerfully accommodating to our Sunday morning newspaper sprawl. A good option if you want to pay someone to make you scrambled eggs and turkey bacon instead of doing it yourself.

Order before you sit… the service is slow :(Food was average. We ordered a waffle straight off the menu, strawberry and nutella, and they gave us strawberry and walnut(not even on the menu). The waiter promptly returned it to the kitchen to have nutella put on it but with only 6 waffles on the menu how could they get confused? With so many great brunch spots in the city, prob wouldn’t consider this an option in the future.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. Stopped in this place for brunch yesterday because of a Groupon(purchased it as I was passing the place and figured it couldn’t be to bad) — I definitely should have read the reviews. My boyfriend ordered an egg and cheese sandwich, I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, and we ordered a waffle to split(maple syrup, whipped cream, chocolate chips). Before placing the order for the waffle I confirmed it was to be served with REAL maple syrup, not that corn syrup crap, and the waitress said everything was served with real maple syrup. We originally wanted nutella and bananas(there was a nutella and strawberry waffle on the menu), but were told there were no substituions… hmmm? 40 minutes later, our sandwiches came out. They got my boyfriend’s order right(although he was not happy that his egg was runny — I don’t personally mind that), but my sandwich came out without bacon! I informed the waitress, who told the cooks, who then took at least 20 more minutes to fry up 2 slices of bacon to put on the side of my sandwich — and it was UNDERCOOKED. At that point I just put it on my COLD sandwich and ate it. Where are the waffles, you may ask? About 5 minutes after the waitress initially brought out our sandwiches(45 minutes after we ordered), she brought out a waffle that BARELY had any chocolate chips or whipped cream on it(I thought it must have been a joke as the waffle really wasn’t big and it cost $ 9.50), and a side of syrup that was certainly not maple(absolutely disgusting). I immediately called her over and told her that this was not real maple syrup. When she said that’s what all the waffles were served with, I asked her to please just bring out a side of nutella so I could actually eat the waffle, as she misrepresented what came with it. Instead, she took the waffle, and 20 minutes later, brought out a waffle with nutella and strawberries. I hate strawberries, and had told her that during our initial order. About 30 minutes later, without ever bringing out another waffle that was remotely close to our order, she brought out a check. I had told her when she originally took our orders that we had a $ 20 Groupon(hence the $ 20 worth of food initially ordered), and asked where our waffle was. She responded that they were«out of waffles.» And she handed us our check anyway. About $ 5 for each breakfast sandwich that wasn’t cooked right, took forever, and came with poor attitudes and service? No thank you. I politely refused to pay the check without getting the rest of my order, so she just walked away with the check. So I guess it was«comped» HA. Oh, and throughout the meal, my boyfriend had to get up several times to refill our water glasses because the waiters and waitresses clearly had better things to do. Will NEVER come here again, I’m sure this place won’t be around for long. Got a Groupon refund.

Pretty disappointed with this place. We thought the previous tenant, Oddfellows Café, had food that was rather overpriced for what you got, and the service rather slow, and were hoping the new Yolo tenant would fix the issues the previous place had. Although the food seemed a bit more affordable, it was less remarkable, and the issues with slow service actually seem to have gotten worse. From the get-go, it felt like the staff was fighting a losing battle with the amount of work they had. To be fair, they there was a groupon promotion going on(we showed up armed with a groupon as well) but, even though they seemed to be trying hard, the staff was pretty overwhelmed. There was also just one person in a small room cooking all the food, which seems like a recipe for delays. As for the food itself, it wasn’t bad, but was also pretty unremarkable. My breakfast burrito(one of the specials) mostly just tasted like a bunch of potates wrapped in a tortilla and pressed. There were a few bites in the middle that had a vaguely eggy, meaty and/or cheesy taste, and there was sour crème and salsa verde to put on top but, again, it was nothing particularly special. My wife’s egg/cheese/bacon sandwich was more flavorful(also had a significant kick from the aioli), but wouldn’t necessarily justify waiting as long as we did for it. The décor and ambiance were generally pleasing, but I would recommend puting some blinds up on the windows and adjusting for time of day, as the sun was shining right in the very top of the window and right in people’s eyes at the tables nearest to that side of the room. The coffee was solid, though. Maybe they should just stick to being a coffee shop at this location, and stop trying to be a full service restaurant?

YOLO is a NOLO. More like a HELLNO. This place should stick to the coffee shop biz. Food was not bad but the service was a NONO. Skip it. Save $. Run away.

My husband and I just went to Yolo and were very disappointed. We ordered a waffle and breakfast burrito, and although my husband confirmed that the burrito was veggie, he discovered after a few bites that he was eating plenty of meat in his burrito. We had already waited 30 minutes for our breakfast when we were one of two tables in the restaurant. It took another 5 minutes to flag over a different waiter, who got our waitress. She did apologize but never offered to comp the meal and didn’t seem to realize that it’s a big deal to feed a vegetarian meat. It made us wonder — what if one of us had said we had a food allergy? Would that have been forgotten too? And, what happens when the restaurant is busy, because it was pretty slow and they still messed up our order. It took way too long for my husband’s replacement egg and cheese sandwich to arrive(another 10 minutes — shouldn’t it take 3 minutes to fry up an egg when a customer just ate meat because of a restaurant mistake?), and my food got too cold and unappetizing in the meantime. When we were ready to go no one had come over to apologize again or offer us the check(it had been another 20 minutes), so I went up to the register to check with the waitress and I asked if our whole meal would be comped, given the circumstances. She said«sure, i don’t even have time to write you a check anyways.» Thanks, Yolo. Slow service, botched orders that made a vegetarian eat meat, plus little apology for the whole thing and a dismissive response when we needed to leave after being there 1 hour(for an egg and cheese and a waffle!) was not the way we had hoped to start our weekend. W’ere now home feeling kind of gross and wishing we had gone to Green Eggs for breakfast! PS — we had arrived with a Groupon that we just returned since we aren’t so excited to come back.

Portions are small, service is unforgivably slow even with no one inside. Food was just ok. Thank goodness it was a groupon.

YOGO: You only go once… Waited more than 30 minutes for their very bad oatmeal with a few raisins dumped in, no nuts(even though mentioned on the menu) and 5 sour blueberries. I went early and there were only a few other customers but the service was terrible. Then, I had to wait another 10 minutes to pay while standing at the cash register(with 2 young kids, so clearly wanted to get out of there). Will never return.
