I went for the bubble tea, I had some time to waste and figure I give it a try, especially since it is the only place in the concourse that I’ve seen that sells bubble tea. I’ve been to my fair share of bubble tea places, and wanted to try and new place and see how it compares. I got a taro milk tea. The taro milk tea itself wasn’t all that bad, similar to other places I’ve been. The tapioca pearls however weren’t that great. They had no flavor and the texture was a little weird. All in all, it’s not terrible, but I probably wouldn’t go back there again, especially since there are many places to get bubble tea in Philly.

This is a great little place. The sushi is tasty and cheap and the staff are nice and friendly. I have never had the frozen yogurt so I can’t say, but I am going to get around to it when I get a craving. Suburban Station kind of sucks hard. It’s dirty and the people are a combination of rude travels scurrying about and homeless bottom dwellers that piss and sleep on the benches. Frankly I do not like it. It makes YOSHI all the more better, because the place is CLEAN, the people are NICE, the area is well lit and the food is GOOD! It’s just a cool little place and a cool little ray of sunshine piercing an otherwise dark and dingy room. If you are traveling through and want a quick cheap snack to tide you over or a good tray of sushi for a ride, stop here. Seriously, go here! It’s cool!

5 stars for the bubble tea, 4 for the sushi, rounded up for the friendly service. I get Thai Tea bubble tea anywhere I can find it, and Yoshi’s is notably better and richer than any other I’ve had. For those who have not had it before, the flavor is like toasty marshmallow and the tapioca bubbles give a fun chewy texture. The triangle sushi(more like flavored rice balls) are really nice for an extremely quick lunch. They taste great and seem to have nice quality ingredients — it can be a little weird getting sushi from a train station, but then again the best sushi in the world is in a Tokyo station. The plastic wrapping takes some getting used to to open, but it does a good job of keeping the seaweed crisp. They also have traditional rolls(California roll, eel, etc), but I’m not as much a fan of those.

The Bubble Tea is the best in the City. I get it in NY and this is good.

Bubble tea is terrible… I ordered lychee and got this clear liquid that tastes like water plus lychee flavoring. No milk, no tea. I won’t call this a bubble tea at all.

I mean, there isn’t much to expect from prepackaged sushi. Who knows how long it’s been sitting on those shelves. But I needed a pick-me-up snack before dinner. I grabbed an onigiri with bbq chicken and a tamago sushi. The tamago sushi… You can smell the vinegar right as you open the wrapper. But even so, the rice had no flavor. I ate the egg(passable) and dumped the rice. The chicken bbq was a decent snack. Enough of a portion to hold me over. The sauce was sweet but I found it to be a bit spicy too. I do appreciate the intricate wrapper to keep the seaweed from getting soggy. I probably won’t make it a habit to stop here though. The tamago was $ 1 for the happy hour special. Don’t bother, go to Vic’s.

Love their frozen yogurt, smooth and delish! Only frozen yogurt shop that Ive tried that has the best variety topping options… anything from fresh fruit to brownie chunks.

I almost feel weird saying one of my favorite yogurt places in the city is in Suburban Station… but it’s the truth. The yogurt is really good, awesome toppings, and the people that work there are very friendly. Go on Wednesdays and you get double stamps on your loyalty card!

Yogurt and sushi sounds like a very weird combination. I thought it was kind of cute how they individually wrapped the sushi but did not try it. There were not many yogurt options and the ones that were there weren’t that great. The ones that I did get: strawberry lemonade, peach and tart were eh. I did like their cereal options on the side way and the turning knob. There were a good amount of toppings to choose from but I would not recommend the brownie or the Orea. The worker there that we talked to was nice but I do not think I will be coming back here.

When I heard there was Onigiri at suburban station, I found Yoshi which labels them as «triangle sushi.» There’s. Seafood Lovers, Shrimp Lovers, Tuna & Kimchi, Bulgogi, Spicy Hot Chicken, and Chicken Teriyaki, from what I can remember. Each one goes for $ 2.59 + tax, and they make for a great snack. Personally I didn’t like the Spicy Hot Chicken because well. it’s cold but that’s how they’re stored and I just like my poultry warm. And the only other one I’ve ever had was the Seafood Lovers and that I really like. The name, the way it smelled and looked, made me felt like a cat though.

Okay, I admit it. I have no idea how to properly open their wrappers. So I guess I don’t really get why they need to be in wrappers. To be clean? In any case, if you’re here for gourmet sushi, this place isn’t it.(And, I might add, I really question your judgment in thinking that a place serving yogurt and sushi out of plastic wrappers would have gourmet sushi.) So anyway, gourmet sushi, not it. Really cheap sushi? I wouldn’t say that either. Because if you’re getting pieces here and there, it adds up. Usually when I come here for lunch, I grab some sushi and one of the rice triangles wrapped in seaweed. Those are actually pretty reasonably priced and help fill me up a bit without costing too much. In conclusion, I guess this place is okay. Nothing more nothing less.

Great frozen yogurt with all kinds of toppings! Watch out for their huge cups that make you feel like you should fill them, and then you end up with a $ 6 froyo. Their sushi is just okay. Didn’t taste that fresh — I’d recommend that sushi place in the Comcast food court, just a few steps away, if you want good sushi. Go to Yoshi for the froyo! Oh, and on Wednesdays you can double punch the card that eventually will get you a free cup of froyo.

Sushi. Meh. I must be wrapper-challenged, because even when i try to open the wrapper, i end up having to use my chopsticks to eat the sushi anyway. I tried picking up the rice with my hand once, and it just fell apart. And my fingers were all greasy. They may need to cut down on the rice vinegar… It’s not that much cheaper than Tokyo Sushi which is literally, 20 steps away. I’d rather go there to get my to-go-sushi fix. If anything, get the Triangle Sushi(not really sushi) here. The one with Tuna and Caramelized Kimchi. I ended up making my own home-made triangle sushi(with brown rice) the next day… but i think Yoshi’s tasted better. heh.

GREAT Frozen Yogurt. Always a strong variety of flavors and toppings. They have a location right in Suburban Station that you can be in and out in 5 minutes. Also make sure to get their punch card. Buy 7 Frozen Yogurts and get the 8th for free. On Wednesday they punch your card twice for one purchase, great deal! I cant comment on the sushi because I have never had it, but individually wrapped sushi is a great idea because sushi is one of those things you can always grab for a quick snack. Love it here!

A weird concept, and don’t know how sushi & yogurt are related i didnt try the yoghurt but the pre-packaged sushi was ok though. It was fresh, but the fish on the border of fishiness. The way they package the individual packages seems to preserve the texture of the rice, yet keeps the crunchiness of the seaweed paper. They have a few weird kinds of sushi packagd as triangles. beef n kimchi was one. Will have to try again.

Even my daughter(age 7) agrees that the yogurt here is 3 star — not as good as tutti frutti or yogorino. On par with Sweet Ending. The sushi is just«meh» — we tried the tuna triangle, BBQ Chicken triangle and shrimp nigiri. Harmless enough. If you come after 5 everything is discounted. Manager is very kind to us.

Poor Yoshi! after years of having those damn Super Mario brothers riding upon his back, dropping him into pitfalls, and performing other unspeakable acts of torture, he’s never been the same. Now he’s dishing out pre-packaged sushi and froyo to the public transit masses. Video game jokes aside Yoshi is an interesting spot. I was first perturbed by the thought of ordering pre-wrapped sushi, but still the Thrillist writeup about it had me interested and ready to give it a shot. and in the end what it delivers is decent. what you’ll find is step above the pre-packaged sushi you’ll find at supermarkets, but a step below the deals you’ll find at spots like Vic and Jay’s Famous. But the big plus is how easy it mix and match. For the same price as the 3 roll special at Vic I was going through 18 pieces of yellowtail, Alaskan roll, shrimp tempura, spicy tuna & salmon, squid, and then some. Didn’t get to try the FroYo but its definitely on the list. Overall Yoshi is definitely far from my first destination for sushi or froyo. But it might just be the primary culinary destination in Suburban Station. Still, since the bulk of its other options are 4 Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonalds, and many other options from the Mcfast food rainbow; that only says so much.

This review is about the sushi portion of the establishment. I did try the yogurt once and it was okay, but just doesn’t provide anywhere near the satisfaction of a Termini Bros. cannoli available a mere twenty or so feet away and so I will likely never again have it. So … sushi. Yoshi sells nigiri(fish and such on a rice«ball») in individually wrapped packs, maki(rolls) in two-slice packages, and filled rice/nori triangles in unique packages that — if you can figure out and follow the instructions — can be opened and unwrapped to get the nori(seaweed) around the filling-containing rice triangle. I tried a few different ones of the nigiri and triangles. They were okay, and generally better than the competition in the Suburban Station basement(yes, that is a bit of damning with faint praise). It’s nice that you can mix and match sushi as you like. The prices are reasonable, with nigiri pieces and maki duos going for about a buck fifty and the — both larger and more substantial — triangles going for about two fifty. The pickled ginger was quite tasty, but, unfortunately comes in the form of two pieces in a mostly empty plastic container, which seems ridiculously wasteful. Speaking of waste, I found the individual wrapping of each nigiri and maki duo wasteful. However, in fairness, if you skip getting the various packages available for ferrying your chosen pieces to your chosen dining destination(and, say, opt for a plain paper bag, or nothing at all), then the grams of waste generated is going to be less than for a typical takeout meal(yeah, some more faint-praise damnation…). In short, this place is a welcome addition to the Suburban station basement and a fine spot for a quick snack should you need one while in the area.

My new favorite lunch spot! I didn’t have high expectations for the sushi, but it was really good. I love how each piece is individually wrapped in cellophane. It makes me feel better about the fact that I’m getting sushi in piss-smelling Suburban Station. The sushi was actually better than the more pricier place from the foodcourt at Comcast where I find the sushi rice to be hard like it’s been sitting around for a while. And of course, the yogurt was great… not too bitter and a lot of great flavors like NY cheesecake and pumpkin as well as the more traditiaional flavors… and lots and lots of toppings!

After months of construction, Yoshi has finally opened. At this point, my anticipation was running so high they could be serving neatly wrapped stones and I’d probably give it a good review. What they do serve, however, is frozen yogurt and sushi. The frozen yogurt is the same as in most other asian style frozen yogurt places. They have the basic tart flavor and many others. Yogurt plus toppings is 49 cents/ounce so expect to pay around $ 4 – 5 for a decent portion. I thought their topping selection was above average. There was a good selection of fruit and candy items. I think the fruit had previously been frozen, but no biggy. The sushi is the real item of conversation here. It is individually wrapped nigiri and rolls which is pumped out of a futuristic machine in the back. I must admit that the concept of mixing and matching a plate of sushi to my tastes was refreshing. The environmental impact is probably staggering, but I guess not too different than eating individually wrapped pieces of candy. There was a strange boost of confidence in the food that came from the sealed plastic wrap considering the dank surroundings of the suburban station concourse. The on-display, human aquarium kitchen also looked very neat and clean. I will also say that the staff is very nice and seemed excited to be open. This place is probably more of a 3 star joint, but I think they deserve credit for trying to do something fun and creative and it’s nice to see a cheery establishment like this in the wasteland of Suburban Station.
