Melissa at SmartStyle did a very good job coloring my hair. She broke down the prices for me and there were no hidden fees(unlike other hair salons I’ve gone to in the recent past). She was up front with with cost and she did a very good job. That’s what I like… honesty and good work. I don’t like hair salons that tell me one price, and then at the end of doing my hair, jack it up $ 85 without telling me(as this one particular hair salon in Belvidere had done to me. Well, she didn’t like my honest review of her business practice on Unilocal,and so she threatened to sue me! Not a very good business practice, I’d say.)

I’ve been going to this salon out of pure laziness on my part for sometime. Although my normal visits consisted of subpar fresh out of beauty school talent, a tension filled atmosphere amongst the workers and many employees who prefer quantity over quality I continued to patronize this salon for TWO reasons: cheap(you get what you pay for see pictures) and because it is less than 3 miles from my house. Reason for low review: 1) manager is to immature to understand that all paying customers should be happy and if they aren’t it is a direct reflection of the stylists that are imploded and not the customer. 2) while going to this salon I had to have other salons cut my hair as this group is truly inexperienced in cutting 3) I’ve just learned since visiting with a new salon that although the colorist religiously«wrote down» my color she never actually followed the card as my hair now has rainbow horizontal stripes of different color. You’ve been warned.
