I have gone here a few times since moving here to Philomath but I must say I have not been here in quite a while due to the bad customer service. The first time I went there was with my mother and we waited for nearly 15 minutes before the waitress took our order, I must tell you that the whole time she was taking out order she was on the phone with someone complaining about how they hadnt gotten their checks yet. So we order and 30 minutes goes by before we get our food, it was cold and left a lot to be desired, I could do better by staying home and making my own food. It all tasted like it was cooked from frozen. Not one fresh ingredient, and it was all very bland, Except maybe the toast which was dry and overcooked. The whole while the waitress was still on the phone and she was running around and walking around as though she had drank too much coffee if you know what i mean. She was all over the place. The tables were dingy and sticky and my shirt actually got some kind of gunk on it from the table. I wasnt pleased at all. The last time I went I had taken my 3 girls out for pancakes. We walked in and waited about 15 minutes with no service and no acknowledgement that we were even there. I asked a table full of older gentleman if this was the norm around here and he said«yes mam everyday» and then i watched one of the gentleman at that table stand up and go over to the coffee maker and pour his own coffee, again the waitress was on the phone and in the back area. I got up and went over to where she was and said«excuse me can we get some service please?» she got an agitated look on her face and said«ya ill be there in a minute» 10 minutes later she came to take our order. all of my girls ordered pancakes and I ordered hash browns and eggs, she asked me how id like my eggs and i told her over easy, she said«you know that means its raw on top right?» i proceeded to tell her that no… in fact it wasnt but she wanted to argue and told me well thats the way the chef cooks them, thats what he says are over easy eggs. There was no reasoning with her. our food arrived and was yet again was cold. My eggs which were supposed to be over easy or «nearly raw» as she stated were well done, not runny one bit, they were solid. I complained to her and she said«well maybe he just overcooked them» and then walked away… I was getting very upset by now as I was hungry and was tired of dealing with her attitude. I asked her to come look at the eggs and I had searched«over easy eggs» on my cellphone to show her and she said«ya thats what they look like» i asked her if i could get some new eggs as these are not what i ordered… I’ll be darned if they didnt come back the same way as the first time. I told her i was not going to pay for my breakfast, mind you i hadnt taken one bite. and she said well i can just take off the price of the eggs… I got our check and we left, i havent been back since and i definitely will not be returning. They need to hire new staff and someone to mentor the cook. I live not to far from this place and I still refuse to go here, I would rather drive to corvallis and eat elsewhere than go to this sad excuse for a restaurant ever again. The owner should be ashamed of him/herself for allowing things to continue this way, people in philomath know better than to step foot in here, its nothing but disappointment all around.

I stop here every time we go to Newport. This place is amazing for what it is. Podunk greasy spoon with classic diner fare, chipped tables, torn seats, mismatched plates, and breakfast until closing. One diner noted that they run out of gravy, which is true, since they close at 3, and they make it every morning. All the more reason to show up early. My favorite is the weekday special; $ 6 for an American breakfast before 11. If you get there early enough, you can see tables of old-timers in Dickeys and suspenders shooting the breeze, talking about the war and how gas is too expensive. These kinds of places won’t be around in the future, so enjoy it while you can :)

Established diner serving breakfast and lunch only. Husband and I went here only once for lunch and won’t be back. Food is pre-packaged and heated. Saw«chef» opening bags of frozen and putting the food in the pans. Décor is dated and rather seedy. Waitress was nice enough, but something was definitely«off» — actually, we found the whole experience a little creepy. Definitely won’t be back. Would rather cook at home(and that’s saying something).
