My experience with 1−800-pack-rat has been the best experience I’ve had with long distance movers. I’ve used other container companies for moves and I’ve used truck companies that pack your stuff for you as well. In terms of cost, 1−800-pack-rat offered large containers, moving blankets, container locks, and a move coordinator at a cost that was highly competitive and was ultimately the reason we chose this company. Your total move cost will be dependent upon the time of year it is, the mileage of your move, the length of time you «hold» the containers, and the promotion that you ask for. After getting quotes from other companies, 1−800-pack-rat offered a better price than I was originally quoted and was lower than the other companies. In my case, 1−800-pack-rate better than price matched the other companies.
I used 2 large containers to pack a 4 bedroom house. Through careful packing, using appropriate tie downs, and Tetris-​like furniture stacking these containers were plenty large and everything arrived undamaged. Undamaged is largely dependent upon how well you pack. None of the tip-​tilt-​impact sensors that were contained on boxes placed into the container showed signs of rough handling. The placement and pickup of the containers was a fairly gentle process. The way that the trucks load and unload the containers worked well for our situation and was able to place two containers in very close proximity under low clearance powerlines. Again, how well you pack your container goes a long way in preventing damage.
I moved from the Tucson area. This area is serviced by the 1−800-pack-rat Phoenix facility. Tucson movers need to be aware of the operating hours and service hours for the Tucson area. It’s only a few days a week. If you are able to plan your move well ahead of time, you shouldn’t have any issues with this. I did not have any issues with the facility scheduling that interrupted my move, but summers are a popular move time and scheduling containers and pickups should be done as early as possible to get the exact dates you require. Because of the limited number of pickup days that were available when we moved, we did utilize the expedited service. The cost associated with expediting the move was more than reasonable and was on the order of only $ 200 to reduce the transit time by a few days on a 1700 mile move. When we experienced unforeseen issues, such as not getting the move dates we initially wanted, our move coordinator was there to help us find an amicable solution.
Our experience with 1−800-pack-rat at the destination was great. Due to limited room to place the canister, the company was able to arrange a staggered deliver so that only one container was present at a time. If you ever consider doing this, make sure that you pack accordingly and get your top priority items in the same container. The delivery drivers were very friendly and provided narrow windows of when the container would be delivered and picked up. The trucks were able to position the containers close to the garage door under low clearance branches such that carry distance of items would be minimized. This was a great help and would not have been possible using the types of trucks that lift containers straight up. I recommend reviewing the required area and clearances needed when selecting a moving container company. From what I’ve experienced, 1−800-pack-rate has an advantage here.
In all we were pleased with the use of 1−800-pack-rat for this move. I’d consider using them again.

I am absolutely appalled at this company first they bring me a trailer with a large hole in the bottom that they covered with duck tape and then once the driver left we noticed that the container was only half put together I had to go buy hardware to make sure my belongings would be safe then once we get done loading the container the lock no longer works on the door so there is no way to shut the door of the container

The only reason they are getting two stars is because they price matched. Otherwise it would be one star. When my husband first went with them they quoted him delivery of three to five days, then later said he was mistaken and it was ten day delivery and three to five was expedited and would cost more. Okay so we are stuck on air mattresses… Second they have promised pick up for the past two days but have still no gotten our stuff. So so worried our stuff will even get here. Will update when and if it does and if they resolve this issue.

Top notch company. Friendly staff, prompt delivery whenever I needed it and affordable storage rates. I definitely recommend!
