First time here last night celebrating a friends bday had a blast we watched the drag show and did some dancing. Drank plenty of well served drinks and ate some tacos I’m straight but I loved it there and did not experience any negativity or bad service

Went to Phoenix to go to my first Spring Training and felt that I didn’t want to be too butch, so I came here before my baseball weekend officially started. So glad I did because I had so much fun here! First of all, this is the anti-West Hollywood of gay bars/clubs. There are no pretentious WeHo vibes and the guys aren’t anywhere nearly as manicured, which leads to me being a very happy patron. Not only are they not manicured, they were surprisingly good looking. Also, everyone is super nice and approachable. Music was great and the drinks were cheap. I can’t wait for my next visit to Phoenix, so I can stop by and have a drink here.

I wouldn’t give this place a star if I didn’t have to. The bartender’s let a guy steak my drink then when I complained tossed me out. It smells it is mostly minors not a place I would recommend or return to. I spoke to the supposed manager, what an ass… NONONO

My friends dragged me here one time. It was a sobering experience where I learned what it means to be objectified. The bar is sorta dirty, but points to them for having access to a food truck from their patio. Interesting note, it seems like everyone has a «gay lisp» at Charlie’s. Not my type of place. Maybe I’m the wrong demographic?.

I walked in early on a Saturday night. My phone was dying and I didn’t have a charger. I ask a group of bartenders talking to themselves if they had a charging station anywhere. They said no. I thought I’d suggest to the manager that this would be something to develop. I ask for the manager and they said it would take 20 minutes to see the manager. When he turned up, he ejected me for be rude to the bartenders which I was not. I wouldn’t go to this Charlie’s again.

I have a great time every time we go to Charlie’s and the taco shop out back is absolutely incredible.

Greatest gay bar out in the valley. Been coming here for years. Great specials, I recommend Thursday Buy 1 Get 1 free. Busiest bar in Phoenix on the weekends. On Sunday they have 3 for 1. Great times ftw

R.I.P. This bar is so over rated. Even with the drink specials it’s not worth it. Beyond rude work staff. You act as if the drinks were free or something. Don’t waste your time or money.

After years of being a loyal customer to your bar, I’m completely unimpressed with your new door staff. They are rude, dismissive and just cause the loss of several customers. It’s a shame.

The days of gay bars only being for gay people are quickly fading into the past. While the bulk of the patrons will indeed be gay, I’d probably call you a liar if you told me that there were no straight people in the house on any given night. The word on the street is that gay bars are fun places AND that they pour strong and cheap. And this word is true! If you are looking for somewhere to dress to the nines, spend $ 500 on a bottle of vodka, show up in a stretch limo, or stay in your personal bubble… this is not the place for you. Nothing is fancy here and you dressing up will only make you a beacon to be gawked at. I have no idea if there is even bottle service here. You’d look like a goose if you showed up in a limo. And you are pretty much guaranteed to be approached… and possibly touched/groped/fondled while here. Your mileage may vary on that last one. This is a dive bar. You will see partial nudity(maybe full). You will be beckoned and oogled. During the summer, you probably will sweat when inside. For the most part everyone is super friendly and just letting it all hang out. Drink specials are the bomb. $ 3 mini-pitchers on Wednesday? I’m not sure where you can beat that at.

The DJ is getting better, nice new patio in the back… I wish Unilocal would quit dictating how much you have to type in a review. …

This was my first visit from out of town. I can honestly say that I didnt know what to expect. Overall the place is very crowded and the parking lot can be a bit of challenge but overall the place has a wonderful feel about it. The door staff is very friendly and so were the bartenders. Actually I played pool for the first time and everyone at the pool table was very friendly and talkative. I am not a fan of country music but watching the people line dance actually is entertaining. Sure there are bars out there were people look directly through you. But I didnt feel that way at Charlie’s. Overall I felt very safe inside and outside. Next time I am visiting Phoenix, I may be back to say howdy!

If your looking for cheap drinks & long boring drag shows, well Charles is the place to go. if you live close to the light rail, just get off at 7th Ave & Camelback.

Fun time! I always enjoy Sunday fundays. The 3−4−1 specials are amazing. I’d recommend this bar to most of my friends. I also love the taco they serve. This place is a must go for music fun drinks and food! What more can you ask for!

Honestly, not a fan. The dance floor is never full, the music is always ten minutes behind the times. The drinks are okay. On 2−4−1 nights, can be a Godsend. but it’s just meh. A lot of dirty looks if you’re a straight girl. no love for the hags here. Blah. However, the Taco Truck outside is AH-MAZING! but that’s the only highlight.

Charlie’s is like my version of Cheers. Inevitably, I end up here way too often(the check-ins don’t lie). It’s pretty rare that I don’t have a great time, but sometimes weird nights happen. They seemingly have drink specials any time I’m not there, but even not on special their drinks are stupid affordable. You also seem to get a decent pour for your buck unlike some places around town. They also host a slew of special events of varying themes and levels of debauchery. Plus, where else can you see drag queens and line dancing all in the same night? Take a lesson from me and be careful with the super happy hour on Sunday afternoons…

I was there 7÷26÷14, I’m a straight female and I had a blast! The staff were all nice to me. I have never been to a gay bar before but I will definitely go back. The cover charge for females isn’t a big deal, they want men in there. Just like at «straight bars» men are charged a cover because they want females in there. The drinks were cheap and strong. The line dancing of gay men and the drag show was a nice change of pace. The only thing I didn’t get was the no purse thing.(You can bring a wristlet) but I guess it goes back to the«they want more men in there.» No biggie I just brought my necessities and was good. I loved this place!

Stopped in relatively early on a Friday night to enjoy $ 1 drinks till 9PM. Charlie’s was pretty empty, which everyone kept saying was unusual, but I don’t typically enjoy large crowds so I was fine with just a handful of people around. Everyone working there were nice and friendly. Drinks were strong. I love the outdoor seating area — there’s covered areas, areas that look like bleachers, regular tables, and areas to stand. There’s also a volleyball area which looks pretty fun. Inside was an amazing dance floor that was just getting started when we left. I could see that being an awesome time. Overall I had a nice time. I would stop in again when it isn’t super busy.

Ready to have fun and get your party on? This is the place to be. After tending several events here I was impressed on how much fun I had. Let me start with the bar staff. They are super busy but can hold down the fort with a smile. Each bartender is friendly and quick on their toes to make you a drink. Now for the drink specials. I have to say they have the BEST drink specials in town. Even though I don’t drink watching friends and patrons make their dollars stretch helps keep us partying longer. The atmosphere is upbeat with pool tables, large space inside and out, along with a dynamic dance floor that has live performers. Now don’t worry if you drink to much there are plenty of taxi drivers parked right outside to make sure you get home safely. If your ready to make a one stop spot to hang all night than Charlie’s is the place to be.

I thought I’d never be caught dead here! Me, stuck in a line outside a booming club at 1AM. Why is it so packed this hour? Oh yeah, because it’s apparently the biggest gay bar in town! It was literally at maximum capacity, but the hour or so I spent inside was a good time. I’ve never been to one of these before, but I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the atmosphere was. Bouncers who aren’t dicks. People who actually just want to converse. Lots of couples. Tons of straight women taking refuge from creepers. Guys grabbing my butt!(guess that comes with the territory) But between the fog machine, happy people, and ridiculously low ATM fees, I wouldn’t mind coming back here with my friends. Even if there are wangs on the TV screen. Weird.
