Christopher Huston, MD – TOCA

The reviews you see here are spot on. Christpher Huston is extremely uncaring and condescending towards his patients. He could care less that you are in pain, or the fact that his office runs an hour late for every appointment. His specialty is advising you to see a different doctor as he is not smart enough to diagnose your issue. Avoid this clown at all costs.

It’s pretty amazing but I saw Dr. Huston about a year ago and thought him to be rude, arrogant and condescending. His hubris knew no bounds. I didn’t want to take any x-​rays but was forced to do so, after telling him that I had X-​rays and nothing would show up. Given the extent and general agreement of the reviews here, I wonder how this idiot stays on the staff of any reputable medical association. Find someone willing to collaborate with you on any decision-​making regarding your own treatment. After all, it is your body…

I don’t even want to give this «Doctor» even one star. Terrible waste of time and money. Cold, rude, and condescending.

I am currently sitting in the waiting room. My apt was at 4:45 and it is now 5:55. Last time I came here a month ago, it was the same story. Over hour wait just to see the doctor.

I was referred to TOCA for lower back right hip pain. I was initially seen by one physician in the office who immediately recommended I see Dr Huston the back specialist. An appt was scheduled three weeks later. Being in the medical profession myself and dealing with physicians daily I found Dr Huston to be extremely arrogant throughout the exam. I felt he rushed through the exam and essentially told me «I don’t treat hips» you need to see someone else. So after two visits to insurance claims and $ 40.00 in co-​pays and no further ahead with my pain. Will be seeking another orthopedic group/​specialist preferably in Boston.

Worst doctor I’ve ever seen in my life. This guy treats you like a baby and tells you how you are supposed to feel. So arrogant and ice cold with you. Discharged me without telling me only to come to find out from the commission I had no longer had any care available. (Work related injury) I seen him in the spring of 2014. I tried to change docs before hand but was discharged. He literally argues with you and raises his voice. I’m not making this up go see for yourself if you don’t believe me. As you can see from other reviews I’m not the only one. I’ve re injured my back again so I’m definitely taking a different route this time. TOCA is definitively a good place but for when it comes to backs, this guy is terrible. STAY AWAY!!!

Rude, arrogant, and overtreats, need I say more?

I’ve had back problems for over 40 years and had a spinal fusion 30 plus years ago. There is an old saying, once a bad back always a bad back. I think some back pain sufferers have unrealistic expectations. Dr. Huston has treated my back off and on for about 6 years now. Most recently two spinal blocks were a big help. Contrary to other reviews I just read I find him to be a skilled doctor and his bedside manner and general demeanor are sound and professional. He’s got my recommendation as does the TOCA practice as I have other doctors there too.

I had a series of 3 spinal injections w no pain relief. Why? Because dr Houston misdiagnosed me. This TOCA group is supposed to be a sports medicine group. If that was the case then he should have had no problem diagnosing this run, tennis player, over all athlete who has never stretched in his life with a negative MRI with periformis syndrome! I suffered for over a YEAR while he gladly wrote pain medicine scripts. Fortunately for me my CPA brother in law diagnosed me and showed me some extremely effective stretches. This is condition which is classic in triathletes not that I was ever examined because I doubt that pays as we’ll. overall feeling like bad practice. And yes he’s got a terribly arrogant bedside manner and clearly doesn’t evaluate his patients adequately.

Spent $ 2000 on a series of injections with no positive no positive results at all. I really felt like it was a factory of robots getting you in and out as fast as possible with no compassion, listening or real medical mind sets. They’ve over stayed their reputation as the best in Phoenix.

spends more time reading charts in the room with you then doing a proper exam. Rude staff! Asked wife if she spoke English. she is native American. I think a walk in clinic would have been better. Glorified sports medicine doctor.

At first I thought this spine doctor/​pain management doctor was having a bad or long day on my first visit. He was very cold, arrogant and disinterested. I have a very sore, bad, aching back from injuries caused by a fall. Of course he says my back is «unremarkable» and I don’t need surgery which I never purported I did. He has awful bedside manner and generally a bitter disposition overall.
The second time I came in it was supposed to be a follow up, but I wanted to let him know my lumbar part of my back was really really hurting. So he examined it quickly and actually wrote and order for an MRI. That’s the best thing that came out of this appointment. Once again, he was condescending, arrogant, rude and overall unpleasant.
I highly suggest not going to see this particular doctor if you have back issues. There are plenty of doctors here.
After my two experiences, I finally did a search… hah! Very low ratings and a few stories mimic mine.
