Run from Kirk and desert investments. He is the most crooked piece of garbage I have encountered in 40 years of property management. He will lie to your face and enjoy it. I can’t believe how smooth this piece of crap can be. Please don’t give him any money as he is the lowest piece of garbage I have ever encountered. He belongs in jail but his crimes are fairly small in the big picture although he has screwed over hundreds.

Kirk Piersma has pulled off his magic act again, he is no longer operating as Desert Investments, he changed the company name so no one will see these bad reviews. He will pounce on new unknowing victims who will fall into his trap like the rest of us did. The Arizona Dept. of Real Estate revoked his license, but he doesn’t care, he is laughing at them, and that clearly didn’t stop him.

Kirk Piersma held my rent check, sent a letter to me saying if I don’t pay in 5 business days I will be evicted, placed an eviction notice on my front door and actually took his scam all the way to court. Kirk Piersma is dishonest and not very intelligent to take a renter to court for non payment when in fact he deposited my rent payment 2 days before my hearing. Kirk Piersma didn’t bother to show up and his lawyer was made a fool. I won and gave my notice.

The owner of the house I was renting switched property management companies to this horrible company, Desert Investment Advisors. From the day he switched, we had nothing but problems. The CEO, Kirk Piersma is extremely rude. He does not return phone calls or emails. The owner of the house had to intervene in numerous situations due to the lack of response. I moved out of the home last month and left the house in better shape than it was when I moved in. I requested to be present during the final walk-through and he never responded. I received a statement stating that a patio post had to be replaced. I made a call to Kirk Piersma who stated that my dog chewed up the post. I have never owned a dog nor any pet animal in my life. He was unable to provide pictures and has kept my deposit. Do not ever do business with this company. You will also find numerous issues online with tenants including disciplinary actions and civil penalties from the Arizona Department of Real Estate.

I started writing this review in my head just a few weeks into a lease I signed for a one-bedroom duplex in the Portland historical district. There were so many issues and problems, and many of them occurred before I even moved in. I should never have trusted anyone at this company, and I don’t recommend you do, either. I hate having to give this company even one star, but I don’t have an option there. The following are things I experienced personally. Your mileage may vary based on the agent you’re assigned and the property you rent. The agents are unreliable, late for scheduled appointments, and do not return phonecalls. Maintenance requests are ignored and required multiple attempts before anything was scheduled. The maintenance person is horriblly overbooked and, as a result, is not always available to schedule visits beyond a business day. Multiple requests to fix very minor issues went unanswered, leading me to repair them on my own and out of pocket. Regular maintenance to the heating/cooling system was not performed, and as a result led to a $ 500 electric bill in June despite the thermostat being left at 83 degrees. A hold was placed on the returned security deposit request because sufficient funds were not available in their bank account. In short, this company conducts itself in ways which are well below an acceptable level of customer service and does little to remedy situations which arise and are reported in a timely manner. Renter beware!
