Designer Art Direct Custom Framing Store

While my picture turned out great, the customer service was below my expectations for the price I paid, which was even before it was completed. Got quoted it would be done on 1÷7÷16 after dropping it off on 12÷31÷15. Called ¹⁄₁₀ after hearing nothing from them to see what the status was, they told me the framer was still out of town and it could be another week. Called ¹⁄₁₈ after still not hearing from them and they told me it could be done ¹⁄₁₉ as it was on the framer table but she had to call the boss to make sure. Told them I was frustrated with their customer service as I am calling them for updates instead of the other way around. Then I got a TEXT from the owner (thought that was a little unprofessional) that states she was sorry for the delay. Their framing usually only takes a week but my frame was on back order and they should have called to tell me that but my picture will be done tomorrow. So was someone really out of town? Or was it on back order? I did pick it up today but it felt awkward. Picture is beautifully framed, I paid a lot, but the customer service here felt really off! I like to support small businesses but I’ve had better service at hobby lobby with an awesome customer service team.

I have to update this as Cindy the owner did call and email to clarify what really went on with my frame. The no communication was a miscommunication and I do understand things get busy for anyone and things can fall through the cracks. They did a great job on the framing and I would try them again to give them a second chance.

I got my pictures framed here and they were very helpful and it turned out beautifully! I just wish I would’ve checked in on here before purchasing the frames for the discount! Oh well I’ll definitely be back and I’ll use it then!

These folks know what they are doing. I took a print in for custom framing and they helped me pick out the best frame and matting for our print and our budget. The workmanship was fabulous and they really went above and beyond with the details.
I have had other custom framing done over the years and I can’t imagine why I’d go anywhere else in the future.

I went to Designer Art Direct based on the great reviews I read about them on Unilocal!After completing the framing process with Carol and Cindy at Designer Art Direct, the Unilocal!reviews are spot on – this is a great place: great quality work with kind and helpful employees.
I walked into the store with a general idea of what I wanted — one frame for two diplomas along with two corresponding academic medals — with some type of mat. I showed up to Designer Art Direct on June 30, 2012, a Saturday afternoon, and was immediately greeted and helped. Carol took me behind the counter to the large workstation and both listened and helped me figure out what would look best. She is clearly an expert at what she does but is not pushy at all — a great guide.
We didn’t discuss pricing as we picked out mats and selected a frame since the items are very important to me and I was willing to splurge. However, I have no doubt if I had a specific budget to work within Carol would have been just as helpful and kind.
They honored a 50% discount from Unilocal!and a separate $ 50 off for checking-​in through Unilocal.
The total came to around $ 750 and with the discounts and tax I paid $ 360. Now, this seems expensive to me but I have no idea what to expect with the cost of professional framing — especially given the slightly more difficult job I had with the medals. If you read through all the reviews on Unilocal!— even the filtered ones — the overwhelming consensus is that Designer Art Direct is very competitive on price. I think professional framing is just expensive in general. Also, Carol and Cindy (the owner) are so nice that if you do have a strict budget I am sure they will do their best to accommodate your budget.
The project was ready a week later and it looks PHENOMENAL. It is absolutely exactly what I envisioned. I selected two different mat colors and Cindy found the best balance between the two colors. Everything is even and meticulously completed. So even though it was more expensive than I predicted it is WORTH it for the quality of work.
FYI: They do not accept AMEX.
I will most certainly return for future framing needs.

I love this place! I’ve had three items framed now at this place, and I keep going back because they are friendly, have great customer service, work well with the client to understand their needs, produce quality work, finish the project in a timely manner and above all else, work with me even when I have a very squirmy baby trying to crawl all over the place. :)

We went here looking for a dining room table set. It is also a consignment store called
. We looked all day everywhere. East o West Phoenix. This was hands down the highest quality and lowest priced consignment store anywhere! We found a HUGE Bernhardt conference table which was 8X4. Excellent shape and they gave it to us for a steal! We priced them and we literally paid 10 cents on the dollar! They also recommended a mover who was prompt and efficient! I bought a few other things while getting the table. Excellent service and we’re going back to see about some custom framing as well!

I’d called around looking for help with my self-​created pain in the glass — I only needed a replacement 11“x14″ piece of glass (which is a standard size) and had been quoted anything from $ 10-​$ 35! Cindy gave me a better deal, and was happy to chat while I waited!
They’ve also started doing consignment — and they had some impressive furniture items — both in size and value. Worth a check if you’re in the market for some gently used items.
