Thank you so much, Lindsey, for putting this event together. I absolutely LOVED North. Their staff is friendly, the drinks are delicious, and their food is Amaaazing. Their brunch menu is to die for – especially the French toast! I will be back for fresh squeezed mimosas and the best French toast I’ve ever had. Overall, great event, great good, great people.

Thanks to Lindsey and Unilocal Phoenix for allowing me to attend one of the most exclusive elite event, especially on a Saturday. This was my first time at North. They sure know how to throw a phenomenal brunch. We were all treated to 4-course Italian brunch and more. 1) Mini granola parfait — creamy yogurt with the crunchy granola and sweet honey, so satisfying 2) Baked french toast — sweet, gooey, and sumptuous 3) Short rib hash with fried eggs — lots of flavors and textures come together 4) Egg scramble– warm and hearty I just couldn’t eat fast enough. The food kept coming. I heard oohs and ahhs as each dish came out all around the table. A brunch just wouldn’t be complete without Mimosas and Bloody Marys. I had to wake myself up so I ordered a cappuccino too. Absolutely sensational! Throughout the whole event, I was so busy taking photos. I didn’t realize that my phone battery was out when it was time for the pasta demonstration. I was so disappointed that I couldn’t take more photos. However, the photo contest was a lot of fun. I’m still crossing my fingers hoping to win that $ 25 gift card. =) I appreciated all the pasta tips from Chef Chris. I really enjoyed learning how to make and shape the different pastas. Thanks so much to the wonderful staff at North for hosting and giving us a swag bag with homemade pasta to take home. It was nice to pass along to my friends where to have brunch next time.

This was my first Elite event in my new home base and if this is the welcome wagon well then Unilocal must have some great things in store for 2014! This intimate brunch at North in Arcadia was a great introduction to the restaurant and their very classy brunch menu. The staff was fantastic-very friendly and attentive. The manager explained most, if not all, of the dishes to us, explaining what made their version of each dish special. There are plenty of places to brunch here in town, so it was nice to get some of the specifics on the things we were going to dine on. We also got to spend a little time with the chef who showed us how they make their pasta and let us roll and shape some of our own! To start we had parfaits with vanilla yogurt, granola and super fresh fruit. I’m not the biggest fan of parfait because so many restaurants try to disguise it as a breakfast entrée(so wrong) or sometimes dessert(blasphemy!), but North made it into a nice little starter. Honestly, if I could make parfait taste this good at home, I could probably eat it every day for breakfast. Next we had french toast, which was served with fresh whipped cream and warm maple syrup. I’m not the biggest fan of sweet breakfast foods, so this wasn’t my favorite. The best dish was the short rib hash which came with these spicy piquillo pepper potatoes(say that three times fast!), topped with over easy eggs. This was a flavorful, hearty dish that I would definitely order again. The short ribs were tender, the potatoes crisp and the dish had just the right amount of spicy kick to it. We sipped on North’s version of a Bloody Mary, which they call a Red Rooster. It’s basically a very Italian Bloody Mary with parmesan sprinkled into it and a fun skewer of Italian cheeses and baby tomatoes. It was the first thing served, so on an empty stomach it was pretty potent. They also had a very solid mimosa that will knock you backwards even on a full stomach… they aren’t stingy with the liquor here. It was nice to meet other Unilocalers who gave me some great restaurant recommends in the area and made me feel really welcome. High five to Lindsey for putting on such a fun event! Looking forward to more face time with the Phoenix Unilocal community in the new year!
