The only thing I didn’t like was the traffic noise. When you are out of the patio, the noise is deafening. Not just loud and annoying, but absolutely deafening. Still… you’d better get there for social hour. I had some really nice wine by the glass for $ 5.00. They mix up some amazing cocktails and have craft beers on tap. Sadly they were out of the rosé. It was a rosé kind of day and we were not the only ones who thought so. Oh well, there are many other choices and the friendly staff is knowledgeable and will help you.
How often have you thought that you’d spend more time at a bookstore if it had booze?

I really enjoy stopping by and doing my work here. Lots of room, friendly service. Oh… and have I mentioned I love the fresh pies! I cannot even drive by and not wonder what amazing pie they just might happen to have today. Well yesterday it was spiced cranberry apple with cinnamon glaze. So amazing I do not have the words to describe it. But here’s a photo. Keep on doing what you’re doing First Draft Book Bar!

Love this place! We stopped in the other day to browse the books and gifts at Changing Hands plus enjoyed a beer and a glass of wine… how nice is that? Relaxing, comfortable space, friendly staff and a nice, local menu.

Great place to stop in for a small dessert and coffee after dinner. Warm, cozy «Changing Hands» Bookstore is attached to this cute little bar. The perfect way to end a great evening. .. and you might even find a great book to take home to curl up with when you climb into your warm cozy bed. Can life get any better?

What great atmosphere to grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and read. Arrived after a bike ride and enjoyed perusing around at all the trinkets and books. The servers at the bar were very kind and I was able to enjoy a glass of Two Hearted Ale by Bells Brewery from Kalamazoo, Mi.

Such a cute bookstore/​bar/​study space next door. I loved studying on the bar. Music didn’t play too loudly, not very many people coming in and out, and bartenders were really nice. Want to go back for sure!

There is a bar in a bookstore!!! Yes, I know plenty of bookstores have coffee shops, but I don’t drink coffee, so that is not something that ever excited me. However, add a place where you can get some good craft beer or a glass of wine while reading a book you’ve found and you’ve got me hooked. And since it is located in a bookstore it’s fairly quiet, not as quiet as a library, but not overly loud like most drinking establishments. In fact it’s the perfect atmosphere to read, work on your tablet or laptop, or have a nice, normal speaking level conversation.
First Draft is definitely one of my first choices for a place to go in Central Phoenix.

I love this place. Anyone who is a regular at Cartel, Lux or Copper Star should come here.
What I love about this place is that it’s built around the idea that you’re there to read or write, so the ambient noise is quiet and the music they play is never a distraction. The tables also give you plenty of space to work, whether you’re alone or with a small group. Don’t need a table? Leather armchair!
Definitely put this place into your Phoenix café rotation!
