Floormations

I wanted to get my concrete floors stained and found this company on Craigslist. The owner came to my house to do measurements and an inspection. My baseboards needed to be painted due to the carpeting being pulled up and leaving some discoloration. He stated he did not do painting so I would either have to do it myself or hire someone; I elected to do the painting myself. After signing the contract and paying him the 1^st half of the balance due up front (per the contract), we agreed upon a start and finish date (3 – 4 days for project to be completed), I was assured by the owner that we were set to go. I painted my baseboards 2 days before he was to arrive and moved ALL of the first floor furniture out of the house per his request. He did not show up on the first day due to a personal excuse, was 5 ½ hours late on the second day, a no show on the third day, again a personal excuse, was late again on the fourth day, again late on the fifth day and after doing 3 hours of work left and because his personal bills were late in getting paid, he requested that I pay him $ 500 or the «next installment payment» as he put it which was not in the contract nor ever discussed initially. With the job still not done and my patience with him clearly off of the charts, I told him to collect his equipment and not to come back. He said he wanted to finish the job so I told him it had to be finished on the sixth day with absolutely no excuses! He was again late on the sixth day (big surprise) but did finish the job very late into the night. I made the check out to Floormations, LLC, and he asked that I void that check and re-​write another check to him personally because his personal checking account was overdrawn. The next day, I started to move the furniture back into the house only realizing I wasn’t going to be able to. He had brown over-​spray all over my white walls, light sockets, and baseboards. I literally had to repaint the lower half of my walls and baseboards before I could move anything back in. Also the finish he put onto the floor isn’t holding up to my everyday activities so now I am going to have to apply a new and different finish to my floors and it’s been less than a month since this project was completed. What a waste of my time and money!
