Should be 0 stars. This place is booty. The management is booty, the dude at the door was a tweaker looking azz mother… Food was garbage, staff was rude and gross. DONOTEATHERE! Tourists beware! There is a reason there’s a tweaker out front trying to solicit for business! This place is garbage, people are garbage, and food is s***!

The food’s great(the enchiladas are, the cubano sandwich, meh) but the service sucks. They give you a hard time to use coupons or deals you get online even if it’s something they offer on Unilocal or so I have one more certificate from them and I’m going to exchange it for another restaurant because although I absolutely LOVED their enchiladas they were so rude I’m not even going to bother going back and trying to use that certificate.

Do not purchase a Unilocal deal for Fuego. I purchased my first one a few weeks back along with a few other coworkers. Each deal had our name on it. 2 out of 3 of us went to get the orders that were each placed separately. It was a taller gentleman who tried to tell us that he would not accept our deals because not all 3 of us were there. He ended up taking our deals, but was quite rude about it. A coworker and myself both each got another Unilocal deal today. Another coworker placed an order with no deal. We get there and the dark haired shorter gentleman was rude off the bat. He said you can not use a Unilocal deal on to go orders. I explained we had not had this issue before. He refused to accept our deals. I paid for the non Unilocal deal order. No where on the deal does it specify that you have to dine in. I could not believe how absolutely rude he was. Beyond rude.

I won’t be going back. I thought the food was actually good. I had the empanadas, which were tasty but has a weird, sweet sauce on top of them(I could have done without it), and the rice was actually really good. But the service and treatment by the man who served us was just downright rude. We went on a weekday night and were the only ones in the restaurant at 5:30pm, so it’s not like it was a stressful time. My biggest complaint is that I had purchased the $ 5 for $ 10 Unilocal coupon earlier that day and the man tried to tell me they don’t accept those. I complained and said I want to speak to the manager or owner, and he finally said he would try to call someone. He came back and said he would finally take my deal. Vendors are required to follow the terms of the Unilocal coupons, so I thought it was ridiculous to say he wouldn’t accept it. I emailed Unilocal customer service to tell them this was happening, since someone told me this exact instance happened to them a few months ago, so hopefully this issue gets resolved or Unilocal stops offering deals for this restaurant.

Used a $ 5 for $ 10 coupon and ordered the carne asada taco plate, it was fine. The meat wasn’t as tender as I’m used to but the rice and beans were tasty. The staff was quirky but very nice and my plate arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. I work in the area and will return for lunch in the future. Thanks Fuego!

My friend and I were in town for a concert and didn’t make reservations for dinner anywhere(big mistake). We stumbled across Fuego and were just thankful they could seat us in a reasonable amount of time. Considering how busy they were, I was impressed with the quick and attentive service. We both had tostadas, which were good but spicier than I would have liked. The chips & salsas were a good addition. I would go back again, but probably more for a lunch spot.

It was okay. The waiter was not attentive. We walked in and he gave us our seats, asking what we wanted to drink. We waited awhile and he finally brought us our drinks after attending the bigger groups. The waiter came back after a few minutes to get our food order. He never came back to get us refills. So we ate our good food with no drink and when we wanted our check, he brought us refills. I think the issue can be resolved by having more than one waiter.

Food was excellent. Got the empanadas and it was more than enough for two. Sadly service was very unfriendly, could be that he was only waiter on tonight but still, a smile says a lot!

I love trying new places. So I was excited when I was invited here. Upon entering the server, Rick, greeted us. He seemed hurried, so our party of 3 sat quickly. I was interested in the blanco sangria. I asked him what the fruit was, and he quickly left. He returned telling me that the sangria didn’t have fruit in it. The menu says fruit, can you tell me what the fruit flavor profile is? He said the sangria doesn’t have fruit, it has wines, rum, triple sec and other liquors. I said the menu says fruit — is it peach, melon or what? The replied there is no fruit in the menu! I changed and ordered a glass of wine. He seemed annoyed with questions and to be quite honest, appeared to lack knowledge about the menu in general. I won’t go into the other incidents that occurred during lunch. The food was good but the service was horrible. I hope next time I am interested in visiting he isn’t my server or I won’t be eating in!

Cute little place in CityScape in downtown Phoenix. Got the sampler because too many things on the menu looked good. Was disappointed with the emapanadas. Way too over cooked. I grew up overseas and ate amazing empanadas every day. These were terrible. Attempt at pernil street tacos was only fair. Too little meat and way too much garnish. I need to be able to taste the pernil. The Cuban sliders were decent, would actually recommend them. Will try this place again. An almost but not quite dining experience. Too bad really, had hopes that it could be my new go to lunch spot.

Good mix of Cuban food on the menu. Go for the empanadas taco and Cubano was fine… I don’t think I’d bring a group but good spot for a bite if everything else around is packed

The service and taste of the food was both bad. At first I thought the waiter /manager was just overwrought from the lunch rush having jut finished. His speech was loud and curt. He moved very quickly, though only one table remained. But after my party of 4 sat down outside, my friend and I realized that he is just ill-mannered. He was rude while we ordered for the two children, insisting twice that we ought to just order them a small cheese crisp and fries. We were not inclined to take his advice which seemed to irritate him. He did refill our drinks without being asked, cleared the plates and fulfilled the basic waiter duties, but he is beyond unfriendly. I ordered a fish taco plate for my daughter and a carne asada taco plate for myself. The fish tacos smelled bad. The beans and rice were so spicy that my taste buds were numbed. I’m an Arizona girl who has grown up on Mexican food, but this was unpleasant. I would never return. However my lunch companion recommends the original Fuego Bistro.

Probably the worst Cuban I have ever had. Bread was soggy, pernil was dry I had a tiny piece of ham… It’s advertised with spicy sweet potato fries and I got plain fries.

The menu claims the empanadas are award winning and rightfully so. They were the largest empanadas I have ever had and very tasty. The tortilla chips were homemade and served with a very solid salsa. They serve the chips as part of the entrée but I would have much preferred a basket when seated. I had the fish tacos which were served with a generous piece of tilapia. The tacos were double wrapped in two thick tortillas which was a little too much tortilla for me. Plus the tortillas were dried out after being warmed up.

Food was delicious. Great portion sizes and it tasted fresh! I would defiantly come here again, maybe sit outside next time(we sat inside). Our waiter was very attentive and knew the menu which is what it should be everywhere. He even offered me what I got for lunch. it was very good. The location was good, close to everything in the city center, parking is under most buildings.

Be sure to call to make sure they are open. This is a great concept and the I enjoyed eating there on my lunch when I worked downtown. I can not give this restaurant better than 1 start because I will not frequent the restaurant again. And, this is why; I went there tonight, a random Tuesday. I had never been there for dinner before. We arrived around 6:30 pm. The hours posted on their website say they are open until 9 pm on week nights(as I write this their website and Unilocal claim that they are open). When we arrived we were told they were closed. Maybe hours had changed and they didn’t update their website. When I asked if their hours had changed, and if they were normally closed on Tuesday, I was told that the hours depend on what is going on each night. I was told that they can’t keep staff on the clock to keep the restaurant open when business is slow, just because they advertise that they are open… This is unacceptable. I worked in the industry for several years and can’t imagine running a restaurant in this fashion. I understand cutting staff, this is standard practice to cut to a skeleton staff when the night seems dead. But, to close 3 hours before you advertise because you expect a slow night. Too bad so sad for any customers that drove downtown for dinner. Unacceptable.

After a mini meal at potbelly, my ever so loving hubby ordered me pernil street tacos from fuego because he swears it was amazeballs the two times he had it. It was in a to go container so I didn’t get the initial visual wow factor though from Unilocal photos they plate very nicely. The serving of meat was a notable size with cheese, guacamole, rice and beans on the side. Now I admit the meat was very tasty. In fact, a little too tasty. I found myself guzzling my potbelly shake to offset some of that saltiness. Even with all the other sides and corn tortilla, it was again, tasty but in a bit oversalted kind of way. Overall I wouldnt mind this again, maybe just a ton more carbs to accompany it. Or maybe some booze. Yes booze.

After an exciting day of hanging out with the most amazing people during a business conference, our team needed to refuel to keep us going. We were thinking about going somewhere else, but the line was so long that we ended up walking into Fuego, and had a table for our whole team within minutes! We sat for a few minutes before we got our drink order, but that’s only ’cause more people caught on to our genius idea of eating at Fuego and joined the party. We had plenty of time to look at the menu to know what we wanted; and once we ordered our food, it was out pretty quick.(I got the nachos with chicken… finger-licking good!) It’s kinda neat ’cause you can actually see the kitchen staff preparing your food and it fills the entire restaurant with yummy smells, sure to get your mouth salivating for the amazing food that is going to be placed in front of you. I would definitely go here again, although I’d like to sit on the patio — they offer menu items out there that aren’t offered inside.

Three stars because it was just eh. We went here for happy hour. The empanadas for HH are made with ground beef. Flavor was good but not wow. My husband ordered the pulled pork sliders. Kinda lacked flavor. I really don’t have to much to say because there are a lot of other places I would suggest downtown over this place.
