Really love the vibe of this place and I do enjoy the food however the service is always hit or miss. This past visit was a total miss! Although we were seated promptly on a Saturday night our server was genuinely not interested in being there. Barely spoke and not a smile to be had when I said«HI! How’s it going?» We were given waters, the other person dining with me asked for lime and a straw, I did not, so when the server came back, thats all that was provided, even though one would think that the server would have asked if another straw was needed or just place one there anyway! In my experience as a regular diner and being in the service industry its like a given. Ok onto the food, we ordered the Bar Plate and a standard BLT, I know that sounds ridiculous and boring but its what I wanted! When the food came out the Bar plate came out first then the sandwich was delivered on 2 separate plates, I thanked the server for being so kind, little did I know what was to come later. The Bar Plate comes with fresh prosciutto, parmigiana cheese, both green and black olives, pistachios, melon and bread. I felt that the bread was stale, but my dining partner said it was ok. The BLT was good, bacon crispy and they lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and they use just the right amount of mayo(Hellmans). So now we wait for the bill, instead of the server walking around to our table, she leans across from behind me, from the walking aisle, to place the bill on the table, geez, would it kill you to walk a few extra steps? I look at the bill and notice $ 2 charge for splitting the sandwich!!! Uh Um, I never asked for it to be split, she assumed we would have wanted it that way, and here I thought she was being nice, no, she was still the same server we had in the beginning. When I asked about the charge she said, well werent you going to share it? I said not necessarily, we ordered 2 dishes and they came out at different times, we didnt ask for it to be that way. She said well you shared it anyway. WHAT!!! Ok its $ 2 but its really not ok to just assume these things and maybe had she used her words and told us about this we would have said something. So overall, food good, service bad. Would want to go back but with so many other options with better service and good food, why bother.

My favorite Phoenix restaurant. Food is great and drinks are awesome. Make sure to get a $ 5 martinis. The décor and atmosphere of this place make it that much cooler. It’s a converted department store, make sure to check out the basement, bathrooms and elevator. If you have out of town guest of have never been, make it a priority to check out. If only Phoenix had more places like this.

Food was good. Service was so so, efficient, but server didn’t have much of a personality. Ordered two items and I was surprised they charged $ 2 to split the BLT plate that we didn’t ask to split. Overall the quality of the food is good, ambiance is trendy, but service could stand to improve.

Hanny’s is a great time to go anytime of the week! Weekend’s you will likely deal with louderDJ’ed music, not the best for easily had conversations. Their food and craft cocktails are incredible though! I typically go with just my fiancée and we will split the Gorgonzola slaw, the Beet Salad and the Quattro Pizza! They are all delicious. The Moscow Mule is top-notch and I also recommend the Ginger Creek, if you like bourbon. The only reason this review isn’t 5 stars is because of Parking(you will likely pay $ 4-$ 8 during peak times in a nearby garage) and the service. The servers are the epitome of aging hipsters who either take life & their job too seriously OR they are just miserable with their jobs altogether. I have had several experiences that leave me wondering why management is unable to either find or retain happy servers but the food, atmosphere & drinks is enough to keep you coming back. Nobody’s perfect!

Recommended: Hanny’s is the premier spot downtown for fun late night. Hanny’s occupies a very unique spot, as it used to be a men’s clothing store on the corner of Adams and 1st Street. It is an easy walk from Chase Field and Talking Stick Arena(Formerly US Airways Center). Do yourself a favor, after leaving an event at one of the above mentioned locations, let the crowd and traffic subside and walk over to Hanny’s. Hanny’s has a full bar and a delicious menu that is available late night. The wait staff is pretty good. They are dressed like butchers and take pride in being trendy. One of the first things people will notice upon waking into Hanny’s is the music… The DJ booth is 2 stories up peaking out over the main section. They consistently have good house DJ’s that keep the music and energy flowing. SPOILERALERT: Do not read on unless you do not want to experience some of the mysteries Hanny’s has in store for you!!! Seriously. Last chance. Turn back now or the cat will be let out of the proverbial bag… OK. You were warned. Some of the main highlights are the bathrooms and the elevator. WHAT? You are asking what do the elevator and the bathrooms have to do with a funky spot? The old elevator shaft has a glass floor to step out onto a stand on. When you look up, you notice you are literally standing in an old abandoned elevator shaft. It is a fun attraction that everyone deserves to see whenever you are within the walls of Hanny’s. The bathroom… Like the Egyptian pyramids or Stonehenge will remain a mystery until you check it out for yourself. Directly below the DJ booth, patrons will notice a stairway going down… below the main level, curious partygoers will find a cage home to some of the freakiest and creepy dolls ever. No matter what I type or what you read from other Unilocaler’s, NOTHING does it justice except your own eyes. Make sure you go watch ALONE after a few adult bevvys. Hanny’s is conveniently located at 40 N 1st Street, Phoenix, AZ on the corner of 1st Street and Adams.

Hanny’s is a little different. We went on a Saturday night for a drink but they weren’t overly busy. After waiting at a bar with two bartenders for 15 minutes(with very few customers) I ordered my drink. It wasn’t made correctly and the bartender held on to my card even though I wanted to close out. That took another 5 minutes to get back. Overall, not impressed.

Parking sucks! Hanny’s is located on the corner in downtown Phoenix where everything is going on. Prepare to do a lot of walking! I ordered a Peartini cocktail, a prosciutto pizza that came with an Italian cheese blend, tomato sauce, shaved parmigiano, arugula, prosciutto, and olive oil, and a side salad. The cocktail was pretty delicious and also very strong. The pizza was thin, huge, and crunchy. It was pretty good I just wish it had more ingredients. The salad could have been better and it was DRENCHED in the dressing. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was cool. I would return.

We went to Hanny’s for some late night food. We are not drinkers so we were not attracted to the dark atmosphere. We both ordered the roast beef sandwich, it was very good and not too greasy. For an up charge we both got green salads… they only had vinegar based dressing, not even ranch. We selected a lemon vinagerette, it tasted as bad as it sounds. We ordered Coke products and they brought them out in 8 oz aluminum bottles… non refillable… it’s obvious they want you consuming copious amounts of alcohol. I think next time we have a late night hankering we will grab some wings from Buffalo and use the gas station for drinks… better taste, better value and better ambiance.

After a great comedy show we decided to grab some grub. The Hanny was a mile away. Why not! Plus both of my friends have been there before. My hubby decided on the brick oven pizza. It was huge but tasty. The waiter was okay but I wouldn’t want to work on Christmas either so I understood the bland attitude. I ordered the snack plate. It was perfect late night snack. The décor of this place was by far beautiful with a Christmas tree entirely made of money. Gorgeous! Statues that were made of all hand bead work!!! Amazing. I would give this place another during the day to see how much traffic comes through and people.

I adore Hanny’s, which is ironically why I haven’t reviewed them yet. This is my go to spot for special occasions i.e. my birthday last year, my New Year’s Eve last year, and for delicious meals and drinks late at night. I can’t find anything wrong with Hanny’s. Their pizzas are perfect, the cocktails are superb and the ambiance is dark, moody, chic, and comfortable. I can’t get enough. Sigh… I need a dirty martini and the gorgonzola slaw, stat.

Hanny’s! I love you! Hanny’s is probably one of my favorite spots in town for anything from lunch to a late night snack. This is my number one go to at least once a week. Everything is good here! Appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pizza… all fantastic. I always start out with the snack plate… Hanny’s version of a charcuterie.(Prosciutto, salami, cheese, green and Greek olives, pistachios and bread) all for $ 7.00. Yes the price has gone up $ 2.00 since my last tip a couple of years ago. Best thing in the house has not gone up. Ready for it? Vodka or gin martinis are always $ 5.00. So are Jack and cokes! Martinis are served traditional straight up, dry or dirty with olives. Small up charge for blue cheese stuffed olives. Jack and cokes are served as a glass of Jack Daniels and a bottle of Coke on the side, you can«season» your Jack Daniels however you like. I really love their pizza. Many to choose from, all pretty large dinner plate size on thin crust. Perfect for sharing, but I can usually finish one. My top three are the carne(sausage and pepperoni), Americano(sausage, sautéed onions and mushrooms) and the prosciutto e mella(prosciutto, apple and fontina cheese) this one doesn’t have sauce. Delicious! The fontina cheese really makes this one stand out, the other pizzas are made with an Italian cheese blend. Salads and sandwiches are good too! Best dessert on the menu, the strawberry long cake. Yep I said long cake. It’s an ice cream cake version of a strawberry short cake but probably ten times better. It’s long, but I never want it to end! Yum! Another point of interest on Hanny’s is the building. It’s actually an old men’s clothing store. They have kept the building pretty original and it’s really something to see. From the creepy basement with an art display to the individual bathrooms that are converted fitting rooms. Pretty cool place. There is a DJ most nights of the week. Impress your next date and bring them to Hanny’s! Kitchen cooks until 1AM and bar pours until 1:30AM every night. Enjoy!

Here’s the skinny on Hanny’s — Ambience: It’s a darker food-serving lounge that has tons of seating without rubbing elbows with the party next to you… most recently we came here the night before Thanksgiving and were able to comfortably talk and laugh without the place feeling too intimate. They spin some great tunes(look for the deejay booth above the main entrance). The upstairs bathrooms and downstairs are an awesome sight you need to check out firsthand. Food: All the light bites we’ve had — pizzas, prosciutto-wrapped prawns, salads — are pretty great and reasonably priced. I consider this less of a dinner place and more a «let’s order food so we’re not just drinking our meal» place. Drink: They have a respectable beer and wine selection and make a solid martini. Check out some of the great happy hour deals on cocktails. tl;dr — comfortable and hip lounge with solid drinks and light bites. ~ Disclosure: I’m a former Unilocal employee.

I thought this would be a cool spot to check out since it was formerly a clothing department store. We went as a big group for a friend’s birthday and we were seated upstairs in a quiet and quaint area. The booths were really unique and they lean back if you applied enough pressure. We sat across the room from the DJ who was playing mellow deep house. There was also a really grungy looking elevator shaft which looked like it was still under construction. It made the space look very gentrified and hipster. The bathrooms were also unique as though you’re walking through a modern art mirror exhibit. Downstairs in the basement was a table of creepy dolls hanging out. Chuckie’s kind of party. I wanted to try their rock candy Caiprinha because of its novelty. When I got the drink, I could barely swallow the first sip. Thinking it was just me, I passed it around the table and everyone gave a similar reaction. Not wanting to send my drink back, I just asked for some ginger beer to douse the drink which made it slightly better. For appetizer, we had the shrimp prosciutto. The shrimp were large and very scrumptious. For entrée, we ordered a margherita pizza. It was super thin crust as though the crust was on a diet war against carbs. I wasn’t particularly impressed. Hanny’s definitely has potential, perhaps I’ll give it another chance in the future.

Stopped in for dinner while I’m in town and had pizza with prosciutto and arugula. Very yummy! I can’t speak to the music because we went at 5:30pm– thanks time change! My pizza was very reasonably priced and the server was nice. Would have loved a pizza box for my takeaway(It was a little challenging trying to put half a pizza in a regular styrofoam takeout container), but oh well.

Cool bar with great cocktails and desserts. The moscow mule has a hint of cucumber, which is a pretty cool and unique combination. The price of the food is too expensive for the quality and taste, so it doesn’t get the 5 stars. Try the tiramisu if you are a fan. Also, lighting is off on the 2nd floor.

The food is definitely not worth the price or the trip to get the food. The pizzas are big, but real mediocre and you feel like you got robbed of your $ 13. Also the roast beef sandwich is ok, there was no mayo, they didn’t have ketchup as a condiment to dip my onion rings. The placed seemed to focus on food, but they really focus on alcohol. It’s a fancy bar that looks like a restaurant. They have lots of drink specials and the drinks we got were good, although not being on the special list our drinks were kind of on the high end. The atmosphere was really nice and comfortable and they have a pretty diverse crowd. The restrooms are worth checking out because they are creative and something you don’t usually see at restaurants. End of story, they focus on drinks and the food is just ok.

The first time I ever ate at Hanny’s, I wasn’t impressed so when my husband wanted to eat here, I wasn’t that enthused. Luckily for him, the restaurant we wanted to go to in downtown Phoenix had a 30+ minute wait, so we head over to Hanny’s because I am not one to wait… We were seated right away and we ordered the cauliflower calabrese, shrimp prosciutto appetizer and the Carne pizza. I also ordered the peach porch tea. To my surprise, everything was good! The cauliflower had a good spicy kick, the shrimp prosciutto were large and flavorful, and the pizza had so much meat. Although, I wasn’t a big fan of the crust — it’s thin and crunchy, but it tasted stale, I still ate it though — as long as I had meat with every bite, I was good with it. Service was attentive and I liked the trendy atmosphere!

One of my favorite spots in all of Phoenix. Want a really good martini? Come here, my favorite is the st germain, holy martini is this one good! Suggested it to a handful of people, all pleased with the outcome! Only my lady friends and I like the appletini — very girl friendly! Usually is garnished with an apple slice on top which is the perfect ending of this sweet drink. The pizzas are amazing, thin crust pizza — you’ll see everyone with one! So so good, if you’re a meat lover like me, you’ll enjoy the carne:) I also love the simple house salad they have. Dressing is light, but favorable. I usually will start with that if not the onion strings. Those are delicious! Comes with plenty! This place is modern, cool music at night, always a good vibe. I go here all the time, and I’ll continue going all the time! Love it here!

I really really have been wanting to try this place for such a long time now since I am a really big fan of Karl Kopp’s AZ88 in Scottsdale. The department store history and feel is definitely there but it lacked the food flavor and martini pizzaz! I ordered a dirty martini and it was ok. Nothing too great. My hubby and I shared the cauliflower plate and the pepperoni and onion pizza… I wanted to be wowed like I am at the sister restaurant but unfortunately everything fell flat! The only thing exciting that brought goose bumps was the dolls in the basement! It made the small hairs in the back of my neck stand! Our date night ended quickly after that! Sorry Hannys, we won’t be coming back!
