A dirt 2.5 mile out and back trail with no elevation gain that I like to run when staying at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort. In the warmer months, going early is a must, as there is full exposure to the sun. Though I haven’t seen any snakes, I’ve heard rattlers on two occasions, and we saw a few coyotes during a walk at dusk. You pass by the river, golf course, waterfalls, tons of cactus, shrubs, flowers, and a variety of birds and waterfowl. If you are walking, there are informational markers along the route. I’d definitely suggest bug spray, as Mosquitos and no-see-ums abound in AZ, and bring water, of course. It is a nice option to have just steps from the Aji Spa while a guest. Definitely a fan! * My AT&T phone did not have any reception on reservation grounds, so my Run Tracker did not work here. Bust out the FitBit or Garmin if you want to record results * ** add the distance from the trailhead to main hotel wings, and you are just shy of a 10K **

For someone from flat land country the walk with mountains in the background is very nice. Various wildlife you encounter and can observe in their natural habitat is a big plus. Head covering, sunscreen, and water is a necessity. In addition to the trail are the numerous educational signs relative to the area and the people. A no cost and healthy way to make this part of your stay at the Resort.

if you’re staying at the Sheraton Wild Horse Pass Resort & Spa this trail is located right on the resort. if you’re not there are plenty of ways to get on this trail as well. as it looked like there were a lot of open spaces where folks can just walk on at any time. you’ll be walking through the resort golf course. it’s a dirt path. there’s no incline and is flat all the way which makes it a super easy trail. there are times when you’ll have to cross the street so do take caution and look both ways before crossing the street. i loved that there were signs that informed you of which plants were which or even information providing history of certain things. so it was a very educational hike. there wasn’t any shades on this hike so do wear a hat, put on sunscreen, and bring some water as it is arizona and it can get pretty hot.

The start of this trail is just outside of Aji Spa. It is an out-and-back trail that is approximately 2.5 miles long. I runs along Wild Horse Pass Blvd, which it crosses several times. It’s an easy trail, without a lot of elevation changes, but don’t forget to bring along some water, as it can get incredibly hot in the summer with no shade anywhere along the trail. Also the last time I was out there, I did see a coyote that was about 50 yards away from me.
