Montessori Day Schools

Do not send your kids here! There are a multitude of reasons why this school is not good for you and especially not for your kids. Lets start with the office staff. Bev is the assistant to the director. She is constantly in a foul mood and always reeks of cigarette smoke. The director Pat Freeman is a complete joke. She has absolutley no idea how to run a school. Everything is horribly planned and not structured. A great example of this was there was a field trip recently, they did not book enough seats. Pat wanted the teachers to pick out the children they though would behave badly, and notify their parents because their children were perceived a risk of bad behavior they would not be allowed to go. Im sorry what? Because the kid MIGHT be a problem you dont want them to go? Come on now! Its either her way or the highway. She forgets things constantly and nothing ever gets done. Another example of this was a kid lightly tapped another kid on the arm with an empty juicebox. The child was asked to apologize. But this is not how Montessori is done! Children are not supposed to apologize! Ask her about it and I am sure she will give you some fancy mumbo jumbo reason as to why not. The employee that had asked the child to apologize was then fired because of this! Lets look at some of the teaching staff shall we. Ms Leiv. She feels that she is above everyone else. That she does not need to do what everyone else is doing. Example, the lead teachers are expected to be on the playground during specific times or when their assistant is not there. She never has! Her statement was «Its not in my contract». Really? Next on to Ms Marsha. I have never met a more dense woman! How is she still working there! She is so scatter brained its unbelievable. She physically grabs children and pulls them when they dont listen. A teacher left unexpectantly earlier in the year and Ms Marsha had to take over. Parents pulled their kids into different classrooms because of this yet she still works there! Ms Walker. A nice enough lady but stuck back in time. She refuses to try new things. Kids constantly complain about her writing. Finally Ms Duncan. Do not put your kids in her class. She constantly talks about other teachers behind their backs. She uses the word «retard» in a negative fashion. An example of this would be «On this fieldtrip I cant have you all acting retarded» and she used this more than once! How is this ok for kids to hear! There are some other decent teachers and staff but overall a very poorly run school with a horrible group of teachers and educators. Go somewhere else!
