Salsa is really the best invention ever. It’s inexpensive, has zero calories, and makes pretty much everything more delicious. I honestly don’t think anyone does NOT like salsa. Even if you aren’t a tomato fan, not liking salsa is like not liking puppies or rainbows. It’s a transgression against the human condition. If you don’t like salsa, please contact me I want to meet you. Actually I don’t. Weirdo. I thought this event was well run and a great value. We bought our tickets online for like $ 12.50 each or something and it was nice to see that admission did not just grant you the opportunity to spend more money at the event, you actually got to try all the salsas! For free! Well for $ 12.50 but that cost was sunk days ago so mental accounting says FREE. Also the people with the Guinness Book of World Record’s largest vat of salsa(which was kind gross but kind cool in a «Is this real life?» kind of way) were giving away FREE16 oz tubs. I’m assuming(hoping) the tubs didn’t come from the gigantic vat but either way, more free salsa! Other things that annoy me about events like this that did not annoy me here: There was no line to get in. We arrived at 1, I would think prime arriving time, and walked right in. There were also very short lines for drinks. And the drinks were well priced. $ 5 Beers, $ 6 Margaritas. I suppose they could have improved in the drink selection category but I was happy with my margaritas so all’s well that ends well there. I didn’t have to use the Porta Potty(thank god) but I didn’t see a line for them either. It was a mostly lineless event, which is how I prefer my events. I tried most of the salsas they were all pretty good, I ended up «voting» for a couple, which reminds me that the voting process is very flawed! You«Vote With Your Dollars» by donating to the Arizona Hemophilia Association at the booth of the salsa you like the best. I can’t imagine this ends fairly, the winner is probably the person with the richest friends and sometimes rich people don’t have the best taste. I mean, look at the real housewives. I get that its for a good cause but I wish there was another way to vote as well, or possibly an official judges panel so there is an «Official Winner» and a «People’s Choice» winner. I think this might bring more legitimacy to the actual winner, which in turn would bring more entries from local restaurants, which I didn’t see a lot of. All in all though, it was a nice way to spend a Saturday. I hope to go back next year!
