Phoenix Community Acupuncture

My first time here and I greatly appreciate the friendly environment it is a community acupuncture so be prepared I would suggest earphones. I’m going back for sure.

On last cruise of spent my ‘splurge’ money on seeing the acupuncturist on the ship, instead getting my regular massage in the spa. I had always heard good things about using acupuncture, just had never tried it. I had two treatments on the ship and decided to try it locally to build on what was done on the ship.
After searching locally for affordable options I found Phoenix Community Acupuncture. I have found the to affordable and to excellent work. I have had four treatments so far and are getting good results. If you have used acupuncture before or wish to try it, I would recommend Phoenix Community Acupuncture.

Restless Leg Syndrome… it has helped SO SO much. NO sleep. I have gone to a variety of doctors.meds.etc. Little help. FRUSTRATION! Now after 8 mellow (and very affordable) sessions with Maya’s Acupuncture expertise, I am sleeping after years of tossing and turning! I have been tracking and I haven’t had an RLS problem in weeks! Thank you!

They are rude and extremely painful. DON’T GO THERE!!!

I tried acupuncture 5 years ago and did not find it to be helpful. I reluctantly decided to give it another try to alleviate prenatal discomfort. I was weary about receiving acupuncture in an open and non-​private setting. I’m so glad that I did. Mayo is a wonderful practitioner, who creates a warm and comforting environment. I have noticed a significant difference in my body since seeing her; I no longer have intolerable back pain, my energy has increased, and my stomach muscles are no longer throbbing. I’m so grateful for this practice.

After spending $ 100 a treatment at a traditional Chinese acupuncture center and knowing I could not sustain that fee weekly for months, I came to community acupuncture. Mayo came recommended by a friend who received immense pain relief during her last month of pregnancy.
I see Mayo weekly and have been for a long time. She has helped me with so many issues that Dr.‘s ordered test after test after test for. Also– she has been treating me for toxicity and in helping me, I am so much more calm now. I used to get irritated often and over small things and now, I just breeze through things. I will continue to go for overall good health.
Some folks might be uncomfortable with the small public space treatments occur in. You truly get over it during your first treatment. No one can hear your business and no one is prying. I like to think everyone has a common respect for your privacy and we all just want to be at optimal health.
Thank you Mayo for offering such an incredible service to us. I could not imagine going through life’s aches and pains without you.

I was very surprised and relieved to find PCA. The thought of community acupuncture sort of weirded me out for a brief moment before I went to the location. When I arrived I was greeted with a friendly, inviting and calming person named Erin. She was so patient with me and made me feel at ease about the whole process.
When I entered the treatment area I was pleasantly surprised to find out how inviting the atmosphere was (the photos do not do it justice). When I realized I was surrounded by like-​minded people I quickly relaxed while awaiting my first appointment at PCA. I used my time to meditate and pray while my treatment took place. Someone was even lightly snoring and it was not distracting. I did not use ear plugs, but they offer them complimentary. The only thing that was distracting to me was the clicking of the pen when charting was occurring.
I have a back injury that has resulted in a chronic pain condition and I found this to be very beneficial for me. Mayo was so phenomenal. She was empathetic, knowledgeable and super genuine. I look forward to healing more among like-​minded individuals. I am sold on PCA and I look forward to building community there, gaining wellness and getting relief from this debilitating pain. Thank you PCA!

Mayo is fantastic and empathetic at all times! She really listens to you. I have a weekly appointment that I can’t do without. My pain has significantly decreased since I started coming on a regular basis. Even when I’m pain free I come, because it is the one time in the week I can totally relax and experience a stress free hour that recharges my week. I raved so much about this place that now both my mother and daughter come along with me.

Thank you Unilocal for leading me to this place! As a first timer, I had to pay the $ 10 service fee, but then you decide if you want to pay, $ 15 to $ 30. I could not understand it at first. So the lady said I can just pay $ 25 this time (with the $ 10 service fee) and next time, pay what I want from $ 15 – 30. Sweet!
I was taken to this room with multiple people. I lay down and I try ridiculously hard to get comfortable, but I can’t. I get so many needles in me that if I move, it would be uncomfortable so I had to stay still for 45 minutes.
After it was over, I felt good… really good. The pain disappeared… However, I was told to come back because I need to go more times for better results. The parking situation is not the best and I don’t have time, but this needle concept works!
I have to go back. I need to go back. I will go back…
I just hope next time, I can get comfortable like the rest of them. Some were even sleeping! Damn, I’m jealous!

A relaxing and therapeutic experience. I love that they offer ear plugs, water, and anything they can do to make you feel more at ease. They have a one on one approach even though you are sitting in the room with other people. Truly calming experience and when your treatment is over, you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to go. They also have various type of herbs, Chinese medical remedies, and other services to help aid in your treatment.
If I ever move back to Phoenix, I will definitely go back.

This place has literally changed my life! This is my third visit and I have seen immediate results! My anxiety, sleep and my blood pressure are almost back to normal. Every time I leave here I feel so relaxed and centered. Mayo is very skilled at what she does. The insertion is not painless at all and she also has a very relaxing environment for you just to drift off and sleep and let the healing begin.

I’ve been coming here for about a year now. It took me way too long to write a review! I found the center through Groupon and was hooked ever since. I enjoy the concept of community acupuncture as it makes it more affordable to get consistent treatments. Mayo is very personable. You can tell she cares about her clients. I’ve been getting acupuncture for many years now, but something abt Mayo’s needling gets me into the parasympathetic state so quickly and deeply. I’ve recommended quite a few people here and will continue to do so!

I’ve heard much chatter about acupuncture and I was not about to fall for it. But a friend surprised me and gave me a gift certificate for three sessions. So, I booked my first appointment on New Year’s Eve. Thought it would be a great way to end the year by trying something new. At first glance, the room looked clean, comfy, and calming. Maya, the acupuncturist, placed some needles in the following places: both hands, legs, and interestingly, she put a few on my right ear and just one needle in my scalp. She also placed some needles in my forearm where I mentioned that I had been feeling some chronic pain. I hardly felt the needles and went to sleep quicker than I thought. Clients quietly came and went during my time there. For each time I woke up from my nap, I saw a different configuration of people around me. The whole idea of acupuncture is that the needles are position in various pressure points in your body and they stimulate the nerves while your body do the healing. It’s been 8 hours since my appointment and my forearm has not bothered me even while typing this review. Other times I’d be feeling some discomfort already. I can’t wait for my next appointment coming up on Wednesday.
UPDATE: 7÷14÷15
I wanted to piggy-​back on a comment made by a fellow Unilocaler about the sheets not being changed. I’ve been going at least once a month for over 6 months now and, for the first time, recently, I witnessed how a patron got up and left her session and the sheet was taken off the seat, lightly shook, and placed back on the chair. Part of me was mortified and the other part just shrugged. Not sure how I really feel about this, but I like the results of my sessions.

Being from Los Angeles, I thought I’d heard of everything. Leave it to Phoenix (known more for cowboys than TCM) to have community acupuncture and for it to be at the top of a Google search!
Being my very first community acupuncture experience, I was grateful (but a little skeptical) when I made an appointment online (they make it really easy to book yourself an appointment) hoping for some relief after recently injuring my back. I was grateful for the pricing (Hallelujah!) and for there being openings over a holiday weekend. My skepticism was only in line with what anyone might think: will this really be any good?
The experience was much better than I expected. The treatments are 5-​star excellent. Mayo is super sharp and intuitively knows what sort of needling plan you’ll need. This facility is super clean (even the 1 bathroom that must be shared with customers and personnel alike). The community room is dimly lit, and everyone whispers discreetly — no one cares what your problems are, they’re here to unwind and forget their own, and everyone seems to be so polite.
Bottom line is she saved my butt (literally) since it was a holiday and I had back pain. And, comparing the treatment I received here vs. the «fancy» acupuncture I’d gotten the week prior at the UCLA East/​West Clinic for the same issue, I can say that the treatment at Phoenix Community Acupuncture was better. This was eye opening and you folks in Phoenix are lucky to have this quality care at your disposal.

I sleep with strangers!
On the new client paperwork, there is a section for potential side effects. They include deep relaxation, sleep and snoring. And yes, I have fallen asleep there more than once.
This place is amazing!
I had it bookmarked for awhile — but a few weeks back, my neck was killing me, and it seems chiropractors are closed on Thursdays. Luckily, I remembered I had seen great reviews here, so I called them and they had me come in right away.
The improvement after just one session was incredible! (Almost in tears on the way in, barely sore on the way out!)
It was suggested I come 2 or 3 times a week for a couple of weeks, just because the pain had been so bad. That was several weeks ago — and I am still going at least once or twice a week. Now it’s not for pain, but vitality. I feel healthier overall. Maybe it’s purely from taking the time to shut out the outside world, focus on breathing and truly relax — which I rarely take the time to do on my own. Or maybe it’s because thousands of years of this healing practice suggests it’s not snake oil. No matter what it is — it’s working!
Mayo and Nicole (the 2 acupuncturists) both have a very calming presence and gentle touch. And the sliding scale of $ 15 — $ 35 per visit make it accessible and affordable for the masses. (No income check — you pay what you feel you can.) There’s a $ 10 new patient set up fee, but that is waived if you get a referral card from an existing client/​patient/​customer (not sure which is correct in this case.) The feeling of calm and serenity in the treatment room is notable, and I find myself looking forward to the next appointment, knowing how refreshed and healthy I’ll feel afterward.
Such a fantastic business!

Today was my second visit to PCA and I felt compelled to write a review on my thoughts so far. I’ll update this review as I progress.
First of all, I do believe that acupuncture works. When I was 18, I started having pain in my neck from my desk job. It was becoming a chronic problem, and I was in pain every day for 3 months straight. After two treatments with a local practitioner, the pain was completely gone. It was truly magical!
So fast forward 16 years… I have many health problems, including fibromyalgia and chronic pain in my back, neck and shoulders from a car accident 14 years ago. These are the main reasons I am coming to PCA.
I have only seen Mayo so far, but I can tell you that she is a very strong empath and healer and has such a beautiful and caring spirit. There is definitely a powerfully healing vibe in the treatment room, and I don’t mind at all sharing the space with other people. In fact, the more people there, the more intense the vibe (IMO).
After my two treatments, I felt lighter and not so weighed down, which is awesome because that is probably the most debilitating problem I have at the moment… body fatigue. My mid-​back pain seems slightly better too. Since my problems are chronic and have been around for many years, I do have realistic expectations that it’ll take multiple treatments for my body to heal and the results be long-​lasting, so I plan on coming to PCA regularly for awhile. Maybe I’ll see you there!

I came in for help with my back and insomnia. Insomnia has been a slow nut to crack but the back I typically see immediate results.

I *love* this experience. I’ve been six times so far, and I’m a total fan. (They give you a frequent flyer card, and at ten visits you get one free.) The location is super convenient — right down from Thomas & 7^th St. The pricing structure is phenomenal! It is kind of on the honor system — where you pay what you feel like you can afford that day ($ 15 and up).
The treatment you get is super professional and therapeutic. I read up on this method, and this is how they actually do it overseas so they can treat a bigger group at the same time. I am glad that I got the experience this way before trying a «traditional» American acupuncture joint. I will always go with community acupuncture from here on out.
The people at this place run a great business, and despite being ridiculously busy all the time, they are SUPER nice and genuinely interested in helping people. The space is FULL of positive energy, but with an extremely relaxing mood/​atmosphere. I have gone in without an appointment and gotten in right away. I would advise using their online portal to book though — super quick, intuitive, and easy.
I want to conclude by saying I would recommend this to everyone, even if you do not have a major medical issue. I originally went in for a minor case of insomnia — solved that in a few weeks; now we’re working on weight loss. Who knew?!

Mayo is amazing. The price is very reasonable and the benefits are wonderful. I started coming here over a year ago and the level of care you get here is truly amazing. Mayo spends time with you, discussing what brought you to acupuncture in the first place. She is an incredible listener and really cares about each person who comes to her business. I love how she has made her location a sanctuary and oasis for restorative healing. And if you are afraid of needles, don’t be. They are small and she is an expert. You’ll feel better from the instant you are done. Love this place!

I went for my second visit 03/29/2013…I felt like Jello afterwards :) and did not and want to get out of the recliner. I slept like a brick again, another good night’s sleep obtained.
The price is SWEEEET! and it’s so easy to set up appointment via smartphone, it has a very quiet, relaxing environment, the low lighting inside is outstanding, especially when the treatment is done; easy access to clinic, kind and compassionate staff and Mayo is such a sweetie, very gentle and LOVES her job, I can tell. :)
Walk-​in appointments are available, YAY!
Did I tell you about the Indian restaurant next door? it’s pretty good (at least to me), but you will not regret your visit overall.
