I love seeing Roger and am sad that he’s not accessible in Beverly Hills anymore.
Other than being incredibly talented, he’s a joy to work with and makes the experience fun.
I trust him more than anyone with my hair and hope to see him the next time I’m in AZ.

I have been going to Roger for a few years now. He is the best I’ve had for blonde! My hair is never damaged or brassy and always has great dimension. My roots are much more discreet than previous stylists because of the technique he uses. Love the blowout packages he offers as well. They are way less and a blow dry bar and last just as long. Thank you Roger!

The negative review and the photo of that amazing platinum hair posted here is what sold me on Roger. It told me he doesn’t put his name on work he doesn’t believe in and that home boy knows how to achieve the perfect platinum hair I’ve been looking for. Blondes are not easy. You can have a great colorist that is shit at doing blonde hair.
After being let down by multiple hair stylists I’d been shelling out a decent chunk of change for I decided to cancel an outstanding appointment with my stylist and find someone new. My life had turned into a dark abyss with hair I hated as I suffered from transitioning from brunette to super blonde. I have been using olaplex to transform my hair and decided I needed to find someone that’s experienced with olaplex bleaching to achieve what I wanted. After finding him on olaplex website, I found this Unilocal page. I saw all the great reviews and then I saw the negative one. The negative one confirmed all that I needed to know– the man won’t do something he doesn’t believe in. I want a stylist that is honest with me! I also want a stylist that knows what’s trendy and how to manage trends into something that looks good. Not every trend works for every person!
So I came in and Roger performed some serious hair wizardry. I wasn’t sure how blonde he would be able to get my hair but my hair is nearly platinum in one go! He also had to make some cuts due to damage from bleach and I ended up with hair shorter than I expected but he did such an amazing job with the bleach I trusted his cuts. My hair feels great considering we bleached the hell out of it and my hair cut is trendy and cute. I’m actually really enjoying the change with the hair cut.
My first day back at work in the office I was irritated that I got so many compliments from people because it made it hard to get my work done. My hair was the talk of the office and my coworkers didnt recognize me. One jealous coworker even sighed at her desk rolling her eyes and three some shade mumbling «how many compliments will she get? Oh look here comes another one!» Imagine having such amazing looking hair that the compliments are actually preventing you from doing your job. Day 2 and the compliments are still rolling in.
Roger is good, he knows his shit and yeah bitches, my hair is dope.
If you’re looking for someone to help you with blonde, go to him! You won’t regret it… clearly.

I went in asking for two inches of my niece’s hair to get dyed turquoise, and he gave her a dark blue ombré that covered most of her head. He was very rude about it. At one point, when I was trying to tell him that he wasn’t doing what we wanted, he said he «didn’t want it to look stupid» so he was doing it his way. I reluctantly let him charge my card, and told him that the only reason I wasn’t mad was because my niece seemed happy. When we left the salon, she told me otherwise. I called to ask for a refund, stating once again that he did not do the service we asked for, and he was very snippy and rude, stating that he would not give a refund because «we had a service performed» Worst $ 100 I have ever spent.

I’ve been going to Roger for years, and he never ceases to amaze me and make me happy with my hair! I do the Japanese straighteners, Brazilian blowouts, and let me just say he’s the MASTER! Then he never let’s me leave with a dull hairdo, I’m always so happy and love all the attention to detail, each strand is carefully attended to! He’s awesome, go see Roger for all your hair needs!

Roger did an AH-​MAZING job on my hair. I had been debating if I wanted to take the plunge and do a new do. He was super patient with me, even when at the very last minute I decided to do it :) You can tell hair is his passion and he cares so much about making the client happy. I can’t wait to go back to him!

I love him, he is the only one I trust to do my hair. When I met him, my hair was in a very bad condition, he helped me to pick the right products. Also, very friendly and fun to be around.

I visit Phoenix a lot and on this occasion needed to get my hair coloured and trimmed, I always get it done at home in England as I’ve had bad experiences In the states with previous colourists… I found Roger through Unilocal and thought with great reviews he must be good … HE IS, I was over the moon with the colour he gave me, he made it look more natural and fabulous, I actually hope im in phoenix more often so he can regularly do my hair.

Roger is amazing! he is the best colorist I have found in Phoenix. I am natural blonde and wanted to try something new and he colored my hair the most rich, gorgeous shade of brown. I love it! He has also put extensions in my hair and they are fabulous ! He also managed to bring my hair back to blonde before the extensions. This is guy is amazing!

He takes really great care of your hair and makes you look fabulous. I would highly recommend him…

This guy knows his stuff — his expertise is doing blonde and it shows when he’s done with your hair. Really. He knows his craft and have faith in his suggestions. He is nothing short of FAB-​U-​LOUS. He does other colours, too, but his blonding can’t be beat.
He’s also a great cutter. We did my hair and then I went in for surgery two weeks later, so I’m about due for a visit. (There aren’t many stylists in this town who not only text to find out how you’re doing, but he offered to come to me to touch up my roots if I couldn’t get there. Really. Who does that?)
Best of all, I’m still getting compliments on the colour and the cut.
He’s amazing and he’s stuck with me. I can’t imagine letting anyone else touch my hair. I don’t just love him, I LOVE LOVE LOVE him.

I love Roger! I’ve been a super big fan of his for a couple years now. I’ve previously reviewed other salons solely based on on Roger’s work.
His work is impeccable and we’ve been working the last year to grow out and repair the damage I did when I let someone else touch my locks.
I love the Hair Studio where he’s set up his own little spot now. It’s a great location in the camelback corridor.
I’ll follow Roger anywhere. Except maybe Siberia. I hate Siberia. I guess I could visit but I wouldn’t want to live there.
If you bring him a caramel frap, he’ll love you forever.

Roger IS as good as it gets!
I’ve been seeing him exclusively for a couple years now and have followed him to several salons. He’s always bent over backwards to accommodate my husband and I and he’s super freakin talented with hair and color.
Roger is also really great at fixing my «errors in judgement» such as: botched Great Clips «bangs», that time I tried to dye my hair brown and it turned green, that other time when I did the same thing, and recently when I dyed my hair a decent color, but it was fading super fast.
He’s super fair with rates, and when you’re a repeat customer he will hook you up.
Put simply, Roger Montoya is the illusive chanteuse of hair.

Roger has been coloring/​highlighting/​cutting my hair for two years now, and I cannot imagine using anyone else! He is absolutely incredible at his craft, and a true hair artist.
