Fun place, tiny patio for smokers only(unless you love second hand smoke). They don’t allow dogs on the patio so plan on leaving your pup at home… wish they’d expand the patio out to the street since there is that big empty spot, then us non-smokers could be outside and not have to inhale the cancerous vapors.

My favorite bar! I’ve been coming here ever since I turned 21 and its rare if I go anywhere else. The place has a nice chill atmosphere and its a great place to wrap up a date at or to catch up with old friends. They have 1 pool table(50 cents a game) and an outdoor patio area. The parking is really small and it can get pretty packed on the weekends, which is a good sign, but the drinks and staff make that all tolerable. If you’ve been reading other Unilocalers reviews on this place then I don’t have to tell you that the music is great. Honestly the biggest reason I keep coming back is because the vibe you get from the place is awesome, its one of the best places to get a drink and have a good time.

Went here the other night as I now live nearby, and it’s a pretty small place, but has some interesting characters. Definitely divey which I like. Drinks are pretty cheap. I got a greyhound for $ 4. :)

I went back to Shady’s on my last visit home and it’s just as great as I remember. We dropped in around 2pm on a Sunday because of all the random things I miss about the US, it’s cheap pool games in dark bars with juke boxes. In the case of THIS bar, it’s FREE pool games during the day, which my sister and I took full advantage of for about an hour and a half as we pumped more and more change into the(still) fantastic jukebox. I can’t express how nice it is to go to a familiar haunt and see that everything you loved about it is still there. Thanks, Shady’s. One final note: I forgot to tip the bartender when I paid for the first round of drinks, which I was absolutely mortified about but he was SUPERCOOL about when I went back up as soon as I realized. Classy move, bartender :)

Love the jukebox. The bartenders are nice. Nice atmosphere. It’s unpretentious, but not lame. Grapefruit IPA was good. They were playing one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, which hypnotized me. A–

My absolute favourite local pub, trendy but not pretentious. Has a varied jukebox, an excellent scotch menu and Stella on tap. Adore it!

My favorite bar! I always get the gin fizz and no other bar in all the states I have to can make my drink like Shady’s. I recommend to all Phoenicians and visitors.

One of the best places to spend a rainy Monday in Arcadia. Locally owned, nothing fancy but just perfect. Staff are awesomely friendly, juke box is old school and drinks are delicious. Come and support little places like this over the polished façade of those big guys.

I wish I would have known about this place while I lived in phx. Great small bar with a modern locals I like type of feel. Very nondescript building off Indian school; if you are there are a cooler winter night I suggest one of their hand crafted cocktails. The brandy Alexander I had was fantastic, almost like a chilled adult hot chocolate served in a classy martini glass. We got there on the earlier side prior to meeting friends so we found a spot in the back of the building to park; if you come past 10 pm the parking be is a tad tight and you may have to walk some. Also, don’t show up in a tank top and hoodie… the bouncer didn’t seem to like one that showed up directly from the gym. But he was also drunk off his ass.

«You’re not taking us to some hipster bar, are you?» my friends muttered after we parked the car in the tiny back lot. «NO! Of course not,» I said right before I walked through the door and was greeted by four men staring at me though thick rimmed glasses and beards most barbarians would envy. In my defense, I had’t been to Shady’s in more than a year, and I didn’t remember much about the last time I was there. The drink menu is, well, a drink menu. I like it the most for its atmosphere – the CD jukebox complete with The National and a pool table. If I lived closer, I’d go here more often. For now, it’s just another chill place to go when I want to play pool.

Maybe I need to go there more often to get the 4 or 5 star feel that others have given. For me, it was just okay. I think their beer prices are a bit high. I can get a way better selection and for less at the pigs meow or whining pig. However, in all fairness on the selection aspect, it’s not really a place for beers. I’m not a mixed drink person so it really doesn’t suit my fancy, but it sounds that if you are, it is worth checking out. The pool table is free during the day, that’s pretty good. The décor inside is nice. Video juke box has lots of different artists not found in other jukes.

A hidden treasure! Talk about craft cocktails!!! incredible drinks, friendly and helpful bartender, nice low lighting, great old school juke box! If this place were within walking distance for me, I’d be a regular. As it is, I will remember to go there whenever I want to relax and have a great cocktail! A must check out place! Do yourself a favor and meet some friends there for a drink, a little pool, or just chill to the music. A++++

What’s not to like about an old musky house that has been turned into a dark dive bar with odd jukebox tunes?!? This place has that awesome, yet funky smell, that you usually have maybe deep in an attic or possibly the basement right behind the old paint and college bong. I am a huge fan of Shady’s! Love being able to go to a no bullshit bar where who you are, or what your wearing, is the least important thing. This is the kinda bar you go to with your close friends and enjoy good conversation and even better jukebox tunes. The Moscow mule is one of my faves here and the bartenders provide great service and know how to make a drink! Parking sucks ass, but there is parking on the street in the neighborhood.

Really dark and literally a «shady» place, but I liked it a lot. It seemed like a real regulars a place which I take to be a good thing. I went on a weekday afternoon during happy hour and there was a good little crowd. The bartender was very friendly and down to earth. Their cocktail list looked awesome, but the well drinks were on happy hour for $ 3 so I opted for that because I was feeling cheap.(Hey, at least I admit it.) I think their other happy hour special was $.50 off of draft beers. My overwhelming thought about this place was that it would be a great closing time bar on the weekends. We shall see. I’ll be back

So… my buddies from Vegas are in town and we decided to stop by here last night. I woke up this morning and noticed on my home page that this was the ROTD for today. Pretty cool how that worked out, eh? Its like we were psychic! JK. Lol. I was driving last night so I did not partake in any beverages. My buddy absolutely loved the drinks he got though. He got two Diamondbacks and some other mango crafted cocktail. My other buddy got a beer. They enjoyed their libations. This place is super duper chill! It reminded me of Mercury Lounge up in Goleta/Santa Barbara. There was a group of about 8 dudes shooting pool and then a handful of other people just hanging out at the bar. The bartender seemed extremely friendly. This place has awesome ceiling fans too! They don’t have blades on them from what I could see and they sort of looked like upside down roulette wheels. Never saw a fan like this before. They definitely worked though and cleared the room of my buddies vape smoke. We only stayed about an hour, but this is a place I could definitely see coming back to. Two last tips… like others have said before. Watch out for those little couches by the bar. They sink down pretty low and it takes a second to get up. Super comfy though! And… parking is tight. Only 4 spots or so in the back. Plenty of street parking though. Overall, a great little dive that I hope to make it back to someday in the future.

Oh Shady’s. how I love you. You’re small, intimate and have a killer jukebox. I’ve frequented this bar on numerous occasions for a nightcap. I personally love the Old Fashioned, which is served the traditional way, complete with one large ice cube. The ambiance is casual and laid back. The lighting is dim and the music loud but it’s not like«I have to scream over the music to talk to my friend» loud. They have the best jukebox in Phoenix. I would recommend this for date night or a small group of friends getting together. It’s a bit tough to have a large group here since the space is so small. There is an outdoor patio, but as witnessed by myself last weekend when my friend decided to throw his birthday party there – it just was a bit too much. Lest I not forget this place also has a pool table! I am terrible at pool but have enjoyed a few games here. Shady’s is the place you come to to get a classic, well made cocktail. Personally, I get the Old Fashioned with Jameson. If you’re a fan of whiskey and have not had this classic, what are you doing with your life? I do have one qualm though – they used to be the least expensive Old Fashioneds that I had come across at $ 6.50 but the last 2 times I’ve been they have been $ 8. I don’t mind paying $ 8 for a well made cocktail, I just think that’s quite the price jump. Unless I was being charged the wrong price the entire time. who knows. For that, I do have to knock off a star. Overall, I’d recommend this place if you’re looking for a sweet, intimate spot on a date or catching up with an old friend.

If my nocturnal adventures cross paths with Shady’s, then it’s safe to say that I will have some office-roaring stories the next day, as well as a hangover that will last until after lunch. Every rose has its thorn. Every great review of the Old Fashioned’s are absolutely correct. I ask for mine with a dash less bitters, as Shady’s makes them a little spicier than I prefer. Come with some quarters to shoot pool and jam to one of the best Jukeboxes in town!

I really like Shadys for its divey, den-like vibes. I love its low lighting, I love its wood paneling, I love its weird B movies always playing on the tv. But what I really, really love about Shadys is their Old Fashioned. In my book, it is hands down the best old fashioned in all of Phoenix. Big ice cube, perfect mix of bourbon and bitters, and a nice orange peel to set it off. It’s just so dang good. They have a nice pool table that’s always rocking and big cozy booths around it, plus a little more seating by the bar. I wish they would update the low couches because it’s like trying to sit in and stand up from a deep dish pizza, but I digress. Shadys is a great local bar with really good drinks. Give it a try!

Shady’s is still one of my favorite bars. They have such a chill vibe there. Patrons aren’t pretentious. The bartenders are cool and friendly. The place is clean as a whistle. There is nothing I don’t like about Shady’s. I’m so glad it’s still the same place I fell in love with. I wish I lived closer to Shady’s because it is the perfect neighborhood bar. If you are looking for a place to hang out with one of your closest friends or someone you want to get to know better, Shady’s is the place. Don’t show up with a bunch of people. It’s tiny in there!

Overdue review! I’m sorry! But a good one! A fella brought me here a while back with the promise of «This is a great dive bar!» Right. You want to bring ME to a DIVE Bar? Weeks into knowing me. Maybe week two? Anyway, I’m glad he did. This place is great! I tell everyone about it. Sure, the parking situation is a stretch, where you’re often on a side street. And yes, the outside makes you think you’re entering an old man bar.(There isn’t much to see from the front. Just the sign and dark windows.) Walking in I exhaled a sigh of relief. This is not a dive bar. This is a laid back place. On the small side, where you can relax. Nothing pretentious with a mock fireplace, pool table and juke box. There couches facing the fireplace are perfect for intimate conversations. The overall volume of the bar side is suited for talking as well. I was stoked to see how many different beers were on tab. However, as my fella was the one picking up the drinks I can’t speak to what exactly is carried. Except that I liked everything I drank.(But then again, I’ve never met a beer I did not like :) The other neat thing I noted about the pool table area was the diversity of ages. This is a place you can bring your family when they’re in town. It’s not a dirty, gross bar where Mom will run screaming to the car. It’s ok for Dad to hang out and play pool, while wearing his über cool tennis visor. No one cares. Hipsters, people right off from work, parents, overdressed Irene, everyone, fine. This was a great place for a date. And beer!
