This is not a good review. I spent over $ 42,000 on my pool. That was 10 years ago.
I called their warranty department and asked if the filter cover, a large and heavy molded plastic cover was under warranty. The gal told me only if the unit was cracked.
It was, the crack was a good 10 inches long which had caused a small flood in our back yard. So she scheduled a repair, The next morning I got a call from the same person who said she had made a mistake, the Shasta Warranty I purchased was a 10 year warranty and I was two months over the expiration date. I asked if she could ask her supplier, Hayward Corporation, if they could honor the warranty. She said they would not. So how much is the cover I asked. She said $ 600 plus labor. However, an entire new unit is only $ 995 plus labor. If the top piece cracked, it would only be a matter of time before the bottom part cracked she said. I set up the replacement appointment.
After this call I made another phone call to Hayward. I spoke to Rick French in customer service. He said he would honor the warranty and send the part to Shasta at no charge to me. Wow, what a terrific person Rick is. He advised me to call Shasta and tell them the part would be sent to them. He also told me Shasta would charge me to install the new cover. I said no problem and called the gal at Shasta. She put me on hold for about 2 minutes, not an issue. But when she came back on she informed me Shasta would not accept the part from Hayward, it was not their policy to accept a part that was not covered under their warranty. Really, she told me this. She told me either they would install a new filter or would not be able to help me. So I called back Rick and he said he would have the part sent directly to me by UPS. I agreed to pay for shipping but he said no, that would not be necessary. Rick, you a terrific person. Shasta should rename their company to Shaft Ya Pools. The part arrived this morning and I installed it in about 2 minutes, maybe 2 and a half minutes. I was going to pay the $ 165 service call to Shasta but am happy they told me they would not help me. They saved me money.
