I was there last week for a hernia repair and stayed overnight. I couldn’t have been any happier with my nurses. Especially night nurse Jeremy and morning nurse Marilyn! Both were very thoughtful and understanding about post surgical pain and lack of mobility.

The other reviews had me really nervous before my procedure. Yesterday, I had surgery done here and had a very good experience. Khadija, my pre-op nurse, was very kind and made me feel confident and relaxed going into surgery. She did a great job inserting my IV and explaining everything even though I was nervous and grumpy. After waking up, I was in a lot of pain and it was taken care of right away. They got my wife out of the waiting room so quickly I thought she had been here since before I woke up. I had to spend four hours in the recovery area and my nurse there, Michelle, took great care of me and made sure I was as comfortable as possible and had everything I needed. After she left, Letty and another nurse went above and beyond making calls to try and have one of my prescriptions changed for me and making me feel better; I was very nauseous and throwing up. I was also discharged while I was still very tired and unable to dress myself, but this did not bother me. I was glad to go home and sleep it off in the comfort of my own bed. I don’t think I could have received better care and am thankful they made the experience as easy and comfortable as possible!

This place is not good — I advise to stay away. I’ve been to a few hospitals and outpatient centers around town over the years, notably Scottsdale Healthcare and John C. Lincoln and they are MUCH better than St. Joe’s. I was not treated well during my procedure — basically kicked out of my bed when I was still ½ awake from the anesthesia. I guess they really needed my bed for the next person and didn’t care if I wasn’t doing well or even fully conscious yet. I actually remember a woman putting my clothes on me because I couldn’t. I spoke up, but was ignored. I also had a girl who did the worst job putting the tube in my hand that gives you the medicine. Left a huge bruise, hurt like the dickens. I know it can be done better — this wasn’t my first surgery. So it seems like their staff isn’t very competent overall. Now that I am trying to get my medical records — the fun continues. I had to go there in person and was told I’d have to wait 2 weeks and they would be mailed to me. Other places I’ve been able to get them same day. Well it is well over a month later and still no records. I’ve called many times, usually get sent to the medical records girl’s voicemail and she only returned one phone call out of 5. She spoke so fast in her message, I still don’t know what she said or her name. I’m very disappointed in this place and won’t go here again.

Worse outpatient treatment by nurses ever! Not only did they rip my clothing trying to dress me but they tried to rush me out of recovery when I was still not awake and able to function. Thanks to those«caring» nurses with tossed a bag of peas on my face and left me there not noticing I couldn’t breath because the paper towel they used was being sucked down my throat. I barely could raise my hand to get help and still no one came. I had to demand for them to give me time to wake up and to get something to drink. If you have a choice I recommend going elsewhere. This place is terrible and uncaring.
