Sat and had a couple beers, appetizer and lunch here acouple days ago. Very relaxed atmosphere, beer was great and food was good too. Our waitress was good and after checking on us several time, gave unsourced space to just relax. Still attentive, but not overbearing. Great place, recommend for midday drink and chill out.

Went with some of my co-workers and I do have to agree with their consensus that the White Russian Imperial is amazing! The vanilla porter is even better and more fit for lunch/dinner. Fantastic club sandwich and great beer — I am now a believer.

Good spot for a few beers to hang out. The service is just okay in my opinion, but the beers and food made up for it. Their food is pretty good and the Parmesan fries are awesome. They could use another server or two on a Saturday afternoon with a full bar though.

Undiscovered gem. They have their own tap room on site. They also have a small variety of food. Our waitress was knowledgeable, she was available without being annoying. Great way to try beers and have a small snack on the patio. I would recommend outside seating.

I was here with a group of friends last weekend and for a Friday night they were not busy at all. That should have been for first clue that the place was just not that great but it was still fairly early. The service was extremely slow, there was however another large group in there enclosed area doing only God knows what… the waitresses bless their souls must have been pulling double duty in both areas because we rarely saw them. I had to repeatedly ask for refills… and flag her down when we had been long since done to finish paying my bill and tip. However we got lucky and made the HH just in time… or so I thought. I searched the menu ahead of time and the one dish I decided on, they did not have. Beers that were listed they also did not have. I went with the Bearded Blonde Beer, not bad and the pretzel appetizer, can’t go wrong with that. The cheese was oily and slid right off the pretzel… and well the Grey Poupon like spicy mustard you’ll want to pass on that too. I tried my friend’s calamari, unfortunately soft and bland, another friend offered a bite of his macaroni… another sinful let down of flavorless food. His Club sandwich was nice to look at, and gave me food envy but it must have been good because I blinked and he ate it all! I’d go again to give it another chance perhaps it was just an off night… but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get there.

Was in town for Spring Training and met up with some friends who are recent transplants. They live near this spot and were excited to try it out. Really glad we did because this place was really chill. I wasn’t very hungry and was on a strict vacation budget, so I limited myself to one alcoholic beverage and dessert. For my drink I had a pear cider for the first time. Pretty good and not overly sweet. And for dessert I had bread pudding for the first time. It was whiskey infused and delicious! The environment here is pretty cool. Especially if you sit outside on their patio area. What I commend this place for the most, is there great service. I wish I still remembered our server’s name because she definitely deserves positive feed back. She was fun, full of personality, and great at her job. I will definitely stop by again next time I’m in town!

Was here with a group last night and several things kept it from being above average. First the good stuff. Plenty of beers to choose from. Our waitress knew what was available. The patio was nice. My Club sandwich was very good. Every employee I came in contact with was very pleasant. Service was a bit slow. The mac and cheese was blah. The website was way out of date, more so on the beer side. I would not seek the place out but would not turn down an offer to go again.

SunUp is a bit… well, quirky to say the least. The approach is weird in a way. It’s like they built it inside two houses. Like, on the road. We get inside and we find a a row of old men drinking with no music on in the main bar area. This contributes to the odd factor. We go outside and order our food. From that point on the ambiance changed dramatically. I ordered my usual chicken tenders and fries and it came to me perfectly. I was shocked to say the least. I was NOT expecting that. SunUp became great. The fries stacked up to many other top fry producers in my opinion. My milk was refreshing as well. SunUp is a local bar. There is no doubt about that. SunUp was still a good time and I would recommend it to others.

This is one of the worst experiences at a restaurant ! Everything took forever to get ! Our waitress did not know what was going on the entire time. She didn’t know the beers, she didn’t know there was a desert menu ! My drink was empty the entire time. My husband hates his food but didn’t want to say something because he knew it would take forever to get our food ! We kept asking for a beer we ordered but never received. We still never got the beer even after we asked another waitress but were charged for it ! I’m speechless !

I tried this establishment yesterday with some friends. It was out first time here and we told the server that when we came in. The server told us we could sit where we wanted and we chose outside. The server pointed in the general direction and we were seated outside. The food was very tasty and reasonably priced. There was a nice selection of beers and wines and the restaurant was clean. The patio was nicely set up with heaters spaced appropriately from the tables so we were warm, but not hot. Now for the bad part. Our server, Nikki seemed like she could care less about being there. She never once smiled or asked how our food was. We told her when we first sat down that we would be on separate checks. We reminded her when our third person arrived. When the check came it was all together. She separated it after we asked her to. My friends and I typically tip 20% or better. But the service was so subpar, we each only tipped 10%. I’m sure we will try this place again, and I’ll update my review afterwards. Maybe Nikki was just having a bad day.

Great local pub. Beers are fresh and perfectly presented. Try the cask varieties for the ultimate craft experience. Green chili pork with tortillas rocks. This is a place to sit down, relax, and enjoy very high quality fresh craft beers and tasty bites.

Local brewery with very reasonable prices. There’s a daily happy hour and opportunities to get $$$ off on your beer purchases. Most entrees are around $ 10.00 and portions are very generous. The bar seating area is the nicest in my opinion and is detached from the main restaurant building. The patio is nice but can be noisy since it faces Camelback Rd. One thing to note, if you pull into the first driveway it’s the brewery building with brew kettles in it. You can park here and walk over or turn right back onto Camelback and go into the main restaurant parking area.

The food is great. Love the burger and the shepherds pie is amazing! Beers rotate frequently. Today is an amazing bourbon aged barley wine, which one if the best barley wines I’ve had! Molly, January and Jamie are amazing. They always know what I like.

Just was not impressed — with the food or their beer. The service was friendly — but everything that came to the table left me wanting more, with the exception of their fries — they were spot on. It just kind of has a feel like it’s someone’s hobby rather than passion if that makes sense. There are some amazing breweries here in the area so the competition is incredibly stiff, you kinda have to do something to stand out among the crowd. I can’t with good conscience recommend this to any of my beer friends, so the only time I’d consider coming back would be for a happy hour.

For Christ sake get some real nachos! This means cheddar cheese, not the wired mayonnaise mixed with cheese bullshit. Otherwise we love the shit out of this place.

Today, a group of people I work with(16) decided to have lunch together and celebrate a co-workers recent promotion. The group decided Sunup Brewing Co was the place to celebrate. When we pulled up I have to admit I was a little apprehensive. I was expecting a modern bistro type brewery, what I found an older brick building, looking like it had seen its better days. We were seated immediately and shortly after greeted by our server who was friendly and ready to start her lunch shift. Our drinks were ordered and delivered quickly as was our entrée’s. On this visit I had the Fish Tacos with garlic parmesan fries. I have to be honest. I didn’t care for my entrée. The fish was very greasy, mostly breading with very little fish. The fries were fresh and served hot but I really disliked the taste. A few people in our group had the Kobe burgers, club sanwiches, and green chili and said their entrée’s were pretty good. Sunup has a wonderful selection of beers, ales, and ciders. If you enjoy craft beer, Sunup is definitely worth checking out. I plan on coming back when I can sample some myself. Good prices, beer, food, and a friendly staff do the job for me.

Great local spot with good food and service. Have been driving by for years and never stopped in until today. Appetizers were great and food was four stars… really couldn’t have done much better in my eyes. Waitress was great and very knowledgable… Also, always try to support small AZ based business. You’ll feel better about yourself when your head hits the pillow…

Just had the most fabulous dinner. The entrees were spectacular. Had the salmon. 13 dollars what a steel the flavor was incredible. The mushroom soup was to die for. Had the flight of beers. Talk about flavor. My favorite being the muscles from Brussels. Best beer I have ever had. Traveled all over Europe including Prague and this one by far beats all of the others hands down. Service was fast and the waitress was very nice and friendly. This is my new weekly hangout. Loved it!!!

The bacon and blue cheese fondue burger with parmesan garlic fries is my favorite burger/fries combo anywhere. Ever. Without rival. I find a few of the mainstay brews to be rather pedestrian(I’m looking at you, Light Rail Cream Ale), but their strong ales are great to drink with such a hearty meal. If there’s a cask IPA, you NEED to go for it! Service is still awesome, and there are two separate rooms to dine in, as well as a patio. I prefer chilling at the second bar while watching some sports. Their happy hour is still legit, and IIRC still all-day Sunday. $ 4 pints is OK with me for local crafts, and while I still am not a fan of every appetizer they have, they’ve definitely improved while staying at a very low price. Definitely a great supper spot for me, and sometimes I have so much fun I catch a mighty buzz from day drinking. While I wish that Uwe guy would bust out with more imperial reds and coffee stouts more often, Sun Up definitely has what it takes to keep me coming back.

Very disappointing and not worth the money. It’s the only local brewer in our part of phoenix so that’s a plus! It’s a older crowd with most of the guest in their 40s-50s. This was the first time back for me 6 months or so and they overhauled their menu for the worse unfortunately. The beer is actually pretty good, but like the rest of the menu overpriced. We went for happy hour and ordered bruschetta($ 5 on HH) and nachos($ 8 no meat). The bruschetta looked and tasted like they dumped pasta sauce on bread and the $ 8 nachos was really small! Probably 10 tortilla chips. Hope they realize their errors before they lose the rest of their customers. Can’t afford to feed my man on those prices…

SunUp was a great stop on my beer hop thru Arizona. If I lived nearby this would probably be my spot. Other breweries I visited also had good beer but something about this place was really cool and enjoyable. I felt really comfortable here. The parking was plentiful, the service good, the restaurant/brewery nice and the beer great. I sat and watched some baseball while trying a flight of many of the beers they had. All were good but my most favorites were the Little Tart Cherry Hef, the White Russian Imperial Stout, and the Vanilla Porter. If I am back in Phoenix I would stop here again.

My favorite lunch spot! We try to come here on Tuesdays for a quick and delicious bite. They usually have tacos and pozole on special and every bite is worth it. January at the bar is always very attentive and happy. I recommend coming here for their green chili, tacos, nachos, wings… You name it!

I don’t know what it was about their Amber, but I was blown away by it, and the other beers in the flight weren’t bad either. I enjoyed this little place, it has a bit of character without being overwhelming. The nice bartender even let me substitute one of the specialty beers in the flight, and it’s always fun to try a weird or seasonal beer. I thought I should have 2 paragraphs, but don’t have more to say.

Nice cozy neighborhood brewery. Friendly staff, bearded brewer with smiling face on website, what more do you need? Ok, honestly the beer is nothing special. Amber, ipa, pale ale, cream ale, yadda yadda, heard it all before. But in this instance I don’t mind. I’m not looking for some ginger infused sour beer at Sunup. I’m looking for solid drinkable beer at great prices with a friendly staff and a simple but satisfying menu. And hey, every now and then they’ll throw something interesting on cask. Come and get it.

I’m a huge brewery girl, and in Phoenix new ones seem to be popping up right and left. However, if you are in the downtown area, look no farther than this place — I’m shocked that their rating is lower than Phoenix Ale Brewery(next closest to downtown) because everything here is mearsureably better IMO. First thing, SunUp has a deal on right now and so I took advantage of that today and a coworker and I went up there to grab lunch. I love the feel of the bar area with the exposed brick and wooden stools, its warm and welcoming but also feels like a cool joint. My coworker had never been but she too was immediatly impressed. Our waitress was nice and attentive, bringing out our drinks and taking our orders timely. She also noticed our $ 15GC on the table and went ahead and took that off the bill for us witout us having to mention it. When we mentioned we were on our lunch hour, she made sure to keep our glasses full and get out food out fast, and even with the place filling up quickly she was on top of it and got us cashed out in a hurry. The food was really good — especially for brewery/bar fare. I went with the chicken ceasar wrap and my coworker went with the green chili dip. Both were great, and reasonablly priced. I had a great lunch here and will definately be back soon.

Great service by Emily! Check in & u get $ 1 off a beer(nice!) ordered the Sun Up salad w/grilled chicken and it was very tasty. I just recommend they serve it in a bowl instead of a flat plate, it was kind of hard to eat. Hubby’s fish & chips were great’ he chose onion rings instead which were big Ol’ amazingness. Will be back!

Today was a Great day. Not only was it the day after the worst«holiday» on the planet… Valentines Day, but it was also the first day of Arizona Beer Week. This was particularly special because it’s my first time experiencing AZ Beer Week. To start the celebration off, we went to SunUp Brewing Company. I don’t know much about them, but it turns out they do sell beer and they also make some really good food. I tried two of their brews, the Amber was the first. Pretty good. I would say it’s a little lighter in flavor than other ambers I’ve had, but I liked it and would order it again. Next up was the Light Rail Cream Ale. Their description says that this is their closest thing to a domestic and I couldn’t agree more. It’s light, crisp and refreshing. Now to the food. We started with the pretzel bites which were okay. The best part about them was the side of mustard. It was actual legit mustard with mustard seeds, not the yellow nasty goop people put on hot dogs at baseball games. Then I had the Trooper IPA Pulled Pork sandwich with a side of the Green Chile Mac & Cheese. The sandwich had cole slaw on it with delicious tender BBQ pulled pork. I haven’t had a BBQ sandwich that good since I left the South. I also haven’t sought out BBQ too much since I’ve been in Phoenix, but bottom line is that it was a really good sandwich. The Mac & Cheese was also a winner. Giant elbow pasta with a nice mix of creamy and stringy cheese in each bite. The green chiles added some uniqueness, but I would have liked it just the same without them. The service was super friendly. Very good food and beer. Thanks to SunUp Brewing Company, the start to my first AZ Beer Week was a success.
