Sushi Eye

Went here for happy hour with my gf and loved it! The customer service is great, and the happy hour deals on drinks and sushi is really good. My absolute favorite sushi dish on their menu was the Lion King roll. They are seriously to die for! I’m so glad to have this gem of a spot is close by to me. I’ll definitely be coming more often. If you’re in the area, you shoul give this little sushi spot a try, I recommend it.

We came here on a Thursday night because I had purchased a Groupon. We were one of 2 tables there which should have been a sign. We got there around 5:40 and asked about Happy Hour. We were told happy hour runs until 6 PM and was already over. After showing our waitress it was indeed 5:40 PM, we finally got menus.
I have always liked Sushi Eye because of their imaginative rolls and beautiful prep that goes into their rolls but things have changed. We ordered the Orange Blossom roll which in the pictures shows the salmon wrapped around the sushi to look like a flower petal. Our roll had a small piece of salmon placed on top was not the quantity of fish pictured on the menu. I ordered miso soup, which was very good, but my White Tuna Sashimi smells fishy and not in a good way. The Happy hour drink deal was nice though, we had 2 Sake Bombers with big beers and a small carafe of sake for $ 6 apiece.
We tried to use our Groupon at the end of the meal but our server refused it saying it was «fraudulent». She explained 3^rd party had created it and it had nothing to do with their restaurant, even though their address and menu was attached to it. She told me to contact Groupon because «Groupon is already aware of the matter and the restaurant had alerted them to the fraudulent deal.» We paid full price and the next day I contacted Groupon about a refund. Groupon had no idea what I was talking about and said they have never been contacted by Sushi Eye about the matter. The kicker? The «Fraudulent» Groupon was still up on their site and available for purchase.
By the time we left at 7:30, we were the last table in the place, not a good sign.

I’ve came here multiple times and their service never fail. My friend and I came here on a Saturday night yesterday. The waitress immediately told us that they did not receive their tuna delivery for the day. She wanted to let us know ahead of time in case that will affect our decision of dining there. I thought that was very nice of her. Nevertheless, our mind was settled to be hanging out here. We shared a veggie Udon, caterpillar rolls and I forgot the name of the other roll. Veggie Udon was absolutely delicious. The soup base is sweet and they are very generous on the veggies and the Udon noodles. We both enjoy it. Caterpillar is delicious as usual. I’ll definitely come back here again

We went for a sushi smackdown. What a kick. Creative presentations and very high quality, fresh tane. Ended up in a tie with a talented chef from SD. We used a Group on, but other discounts are available. Met great people. Will keep this on our radat

We attended sushi smackdown at sushi eye awesome service we had an excellent host from the sushi smackdown the restaurant very nicely decorated sushi chef educated us on sushi history, worth every penny look forward to attending the next sushi smackdown.

Here for the Sushi Smack down Phoenix. First time sushi critique diner. Chef Richard (also the owner) delivered his A game with superb dishes. His opponent Max from San Diego deserves accolades but the raves belong to Richard and well deserved. Gino the host of the Smack down event created a partying atmosphere with his dynamic personality giving us audience participants a reason to return. Love you guys and thanks for a fabulous entertaining experience.

Always great sushi! Good happy hour prices, great atmosphere. We’ve been coming here for years. Kids love the teriyaki chicken.

All the rolls I have had here are average. The prices at happy hour are okay and the place does have a nice ambiance. Tried this place 3 times, it is close to my house. I would go there again if I was meeting up with someone that really liked that place, but there are much better places out there.

Sushi Eye is great. Richard, the owner, is fantastic. The staff is friendly, attentive and prompt. And the food is always wonderful. Picking my favorite dish is impossible. I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve gotten there.
Highly recommended!

I LOVE this place! I’m a «regular» for lunch and the staff knows my order by heart, right down to my drink preferences. Great food, great atmosphere, great service — you won’t be disappointed.

Richard makes the best rolls, try the RSM and Las Vegas rolls. You will not be disappointed!

Been here a few times and figured it was time to write a review. Everything on the menu is excellent and the rice is always nice and sticky and sashimi fish is always fresh. Try and come during off-​hours to escape the loudness and you’ll really enjoy your meal. The staff is really friendly and very accommodating. One of the better places on this side of town and highly recommend!

If you are looking for the best Sushi in the Phoenix/​Tempe area be sure to check out Sushi Eye! Owner Richard services up the most tasty Sushi there is. All his rolls are created with tons of fresh fish (no fillers like a lot of places) and the service makes you feel like you are a part of the family.
I also highly recommend meeting up with friends after work for drinks on the patio for Happy Hour. The Sushi Eye-​tini and the Lychee Martini are yummy!

Great sushi anytime of day! I’m just shocked I haven’t been here sooner. We tried a little of everything: fried rolls, Sashimi, soups, hot green tea– everything was great! We will be back!

I got some sushi for take out and I was impressed! I’ve been to another popular sushi restaurant in town and I was not a fan. I’m so glad I found this place. The spicy tuna poppers are so good! I got the spicy tuna and hamachi hand roll as well. I will order the orange blossom roll again. It looked like a fun atmosphere inside as well! I will definitely be back for happy hour.

They have the best sushi i have had in az. The only complaint I have is they don’t roll the sushi tight enough and it’s a bit loose when you pick it up and tends to come apart but they offer a lot of sushi without that horrible crab mix I hate that stuff and I usually find it hard to go to places and get my favorite sushi is without that stuff in it I tried the orange blossom roll and it was fantastic

Nice neighborhood place, the staff was very nice, love the decorations. I don’t care for sushi but the fried chicken and gyoza (sp) were quite tasty. Will definitely go back.

Sushi restaurants are very hit and miss but this place is a direct «HIT». The owner is the head sushi chef and makes every guest feel like they are apart of the family. Become a frequent visitor and get your own personal chop sticks with your name on them prepared for you each time you visit.
I love to get the golden California and a special J roll that is not on the menu. The worse part about sushi is it can taste very fishy but the head chef has mastered the art of sushi making masking the taste to be delightful.

I went to sushi eye for lunch today, and it was A-​OK, not awesome. The restaurant has a great vibe, and a great looking bar. The staff is very professional and friendly. I was just a bit disappointed in the food. The flavor for each item (I got a combo with soup, salad, salmon teriyaki, Cali roll & tempura) was just lacking. I found myself using extra soy sauce on items I would usually not use any sauce on. Definitely not bad, but I would pay more for a higher quality of food

I’ve been coming here for awhile. Not sure why but my family seems to like this place because of the combination dinners. For these Combo dinners, they allow you to pick and choose multiple entrees.
Anyways, we walked in on a Saturday night and there were a few people at the sushi bar but no one was in the dinning room. By the time we left there were only two other tables with no more customers at the sushi bar. Wow. Why? I can guess its the customer service.
Our serve got our drinks pretty quickly. Remember no one is in this place. We asked for some time to look over the menu and we were done after a few minutes but the server never recognized it. Had to wait a good 10 – 15 minutes before she realized it.
I ordered the BBQ Short Ribs. It came with a little salad and Miso soup. Salad and soup were very good. They gave me about 10 ribs with rice on the side. I have to say the ribs were really good. Tender and cooked just right. I enjoyed them. My wife and daughter ordered the Combo dinner with teriyaki chicken and mixed tempura. Chicken was very moist and good. Only problem is they forgot my wife’s shrimp tempura. Wasn’t too happy. My son got the combo of chicken and beef teriyaki which looked good and he was happy with it.
We also had the Cardinals, Dragon, and Shrimp Tempura rolls. All the food was very good but the service was poor. It seemed like the server wasn’t happy to be there. Didn’t have any emotion. Just went through the motions of taking our order and filling our cups. I’m usually not this harsh on servers but she just seem very uninterested.
