The décor could be better but the owner is always there and a great fellow as well. The food is consistent and wonderful too.

To start off with a positive, the menu had a wide variety. I had the bulgoki and brisket, however it was a small portion considering the medium to high price. The bulgoki was fantastic with a lot of flavor, but the brisket was very dry. I understand that the meat came with a sauce, but it was very bland and not very tasty. On a good note, the side dishes were good, and the meat was easy to cook. If I had to grade the service, I would say that it was alright, the food came fast(although it was un-cooked) but the lady serving me was a tad on the rude side. All in all, it was okay but I don’t think I would go again. 2.5 stars for me.

Came here for my birthday and it was so good and tasty, we had fast service and the waitress was very nice. The best Korean/Japanese BBQ restaurant I’ve been to so far!

First time at Takamatsu. Came here on a recommendation. Arrived at 6 on a Tuesday for dinner. There were five other tables full. The menu is a mix of Japanese and Korean. The Japanese was the sushi while the Korean was the BBQ and entrées. I had sushi for lunch, so… Between the three of us we ordered Pork Bulgolgi, Beef Kalbi, Bipimbap and two teas. The total came to $ 63 plus tip, which was a good deal. There was plenty of food. The Bipimbap was okay. The meat was a bit sparse but it was tender and moist. The egg was over cooked too. The Bulgolgi and Kalbi were excellent. They each had tons of flavorful, juicy meat served on a sizzling platter and lots of sides like pickled kimchi, boiled and sauced potatoes, pickled sprouts, fish cakes, etc. The Kalbi in particular was so tender you’d never know they were mostly collagen. I recommend Takamatsu for a fast, inexpensive flavorful and authentic Korean dinner. Try the BBQ menu!

Although the service was friendly here, the flavored didn’t compare to Café Ga Hyang just down the street. Even the banchan didn’t taste quite as fresh or well made. Hard to imagine coming back here when better Korean is just blocks further west on Dunlap.

You want a great Korean place that has all the great little dishes and fantastic Korean bbq come to takamatsu! All the staff are very warm and inviting, the food is so superb from the bbq, banchan or mix it up with the hot pot seafood pot, all the food to die for and excellent pricing. They also have a full sushi counter that has great fresh sashimi and rolls. I come here at least once a week and order the seafood hot pot for lunch. Excellent!

Best Korean food in the Phoenix area! They are a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The meat is good quality and always thoroughly cooked. They give you sides and also have great service. I love coming here because they are always consistent with their product. The daeji bulgogi is to die for, I highly recommend it if you’ve never tried Korean before and have them cook it for you! It’s amazing!

This place is as authentic as it gets. I spent over a year in korea and this place brings it all back. The staff are friendly and even start joking with us as we were drinking. The prices are decent for the amount you get. If you want AUTHENTIC korean/Japanese this is the place to go.

Noticed this place as I was driving by. So far the best spicy pork bugolgi I’ve had in Phoenix but that’s not saying much. I’d give it an 8⁄10: good flavor and not overdone. Wasn’t crispy but not soggy. Not really spicy but I didn’t mind. Service: 7⁄10. Polite but not superattentive. Not terrible though. Seaweed salad was meh and the kimchi was terrible though. Still, a decent place to eat.

Poor service and they were barely busy, dark inside, hot. air wasn’t comfortable especially since the stove is right in front of you. The waitress barely spoke English so she couldn’t answer our questions very well.

SOGOOD! Tried it for the first time today and I’ll be back whenever I’m in Phoenix. The employees are all really friendly, the service is fast, and the food is amazing. I ordered the bulgoki(spicy pork) and the fried California roll. I don’t eat any type of sushi but the guy behind the bar talked me into it and I’m glad he did.

This place is really hole-in-the-wall(in a good way). The staff were very casual and friendly and I liked that they had tables where you can cook your own dishes.(We didn’t do that this time… but I do plan to return.) We ordered the Las Vegas roll, which I’ve had better versions of elsewhere, but it was still delicious. My partner ordered the vegetable roll and the cucumber roll because she is vegetarian. They were a bit bland to me, so I wish they had more vegetarian options, but maybe Korean/sushi is not the best option for vegetarian meal options. I also wish they had a better beer selection. It was fine, but nothing special.

Came for Korean food — good ol’ mixed rice in a stone pot and sashimi rice. The mixed rice was the best and I’d pass on the sashimi rice. Just stop by if you’re in the area and craving some Korean bites otherwise there’s no need to make a trip out.

I can’t say enough good things about this place! Takamatsu is my boyfriend and I’s favorite Korean BBQ in the area. I’m originally from the greater DC area, and we have a lot of amazing KBBQ there, which I miss a lot. My boyfriend took me to Takamatsu and now we’re addicted. The staff is amazing — all the waiters and waitresses are very friendly and attentive. They make sure your glasses are always full, will tell you about the meats you’re eating or strike up a small conversation. I always feel very welcomed there. In the 4 or so times we’ve been there, my boyfriend and I have had almost every meat on the Korean BBQ menu. The bulgolgi and corned beef are our favorites. I love all the side dishes as well. I HIGHLY recommend his place!

It’s alright, especially for it’s location it’s more of a convenience. Though I have yet to try their sushi– which looks popular, their Korean food is just alright. I’ve had their Dumpling Soup, Seafood Tofu Soup and Pork Belly. All were pretty average and you don’t get that much side dishes. The sides are usually the same too. The service is nice, the waitresses are quick and are attentive. However, the Korean food here isn’t the best I’ve had … pretty mediocre. Do intend on leaving here smelling like BBQ or food, it clings on you even if you aren’t having BBQ.

I’ve been here a few times with my friends and I can’t said I’d ever go here on my own or suggest it to anyone else either. I don’t hate them but there’s nothing special about the place. The food is cheap which is great, the restaurant looks a little outdated too. But I’ve eaten much better for cheaper. My friends seem to be huge fans of this place and love it a lot so is say each person has to make up their mind on their own.
