I will never order a cake from this establishment again. When I called I specifically asked if their carrot cake was thick, moist and if it contained raisins and nuts; I was told it was a traditional carrot cake that contained all of these elements. I would have given you the $ 40 I paid for my cake if you could find a single nut, raisin or even carrot in this cake! As someone who sells cupcakes for extra income I know a good cake when I see one and taste one, I also can tell what is homemade and what comes from a box. Needless to say I was highly disappointed when I cut into the cake on my birthday to find what appeared to be a boxed spice cake, with a plain boxed WHITE cake for the top layer. Not to mention the cream cheese frosting was the WORST frosting I had ever tasted. I’m not sure what they did but they definitely screwed up the frosting. Have you ever seen a birthday cake decorated with traditional flowers and more modern polka dots? Me either! This could be my fault though, when asked how I wanted it decorated I replied«like a fun birthday cake.» Maybe I should have given more direction? Like I said above, I will never order from them again, no matter how many culinary awards the owner has won.

I have nothing but fantastic things to say about the ladies @ The Gingersnap Bakery. After searching throughout the city of Syracuse(and beyond) for a bakery to make our wedding cupcakes we came across The Gingersnap and after just one bite we were sold. + They offer up 40 cake flavors! (We chose Confetti, Chocolate, Apple Spice & Lemon and everyone seemed to love them!) + Fruit fillings optional. + Delicious butter cream frosting. + Regular and jumbo size cakes available. (We chose regular for the guest and jumbo for the bride/groom cupcakes at the top) (They also make regular ol’ tier cakes– so we could have had a full cake at the top instead of cupcakes) + Less than $ 2 a cupcake. + Cupcake towers to rent for next-to-nothing compared to those sold online or at craft stores. + About 30 minutes outside Syracuse but easy to get to via 690 or 481. + Parking spots out front. And if you just happen to be cruising through Phoenix & in the mood for something sweet– they’ve got baked-daily-cupcakes for sale individually too!
