Very clean store and clean and organized vinyl. Found a few gems. I’ll be back regularly for sure.

This place made my day on Record store day. Great staff and the best selection of all the places I visited. Definitely the first place on my list next year. In the mean time I will be spending some hours going through the place. Vinyl heaven.

This is my new favorite record store. They carry tons of excellent quality vinyl(many rare and hard to find) as well as turntables, CDs and more. They pay fair prices for vinyl and treat their customers with respect. Definitely check this place out.

Really good record store. Moved here from Vegas and this place was my first stop– incredible selection. Records: Great stuff that you never see at very reasonable market prices. Also, the records are cleaned by a sonic cleaner– I didn’t even have to nitty-gritty them once I got home because they were cleaner than they ever will be again lol. Staff: The store owner is super friendly and very knowledgeable– he did a wonderful job putting together the ideal shop. Extra’s: Sells inner sleeves, outer sleeves, spin clean machines, high to medium end turntables and audio equipment Selection: Off the chain– tons of great 60’s-90’s collectible records as well as current in print 180g records at great prices.

It was a Saturday afternoon, and I had just finished setting up another new turntable that I had just purchased. I wanted a top notch vinyl recording of female vocals that I was familiar with to test the new setup. Norah Jones was one of my first choices. Her voice is so smooth, and the I have several of her albums already on SACD. But, nothing beats top-notch analog in my opinion; therefore, I proceeded to call around town to see who had two of her best known albums. No other record store in town, except for the ‘In’ Groove had her stuff. However, the person at the store informed me that they close at 5PM(they are now open later on Fridays and Saturdays). No problem. An hour is plenty of time to drive across town on a Saturday, and pick up my vinyl. When I arrived, the clerk was inspecting and arranging some new records. However, from the moment I walked in, she knew that I was the person on the phone that inquired about Norah Jones’ albums. After grabbing those right off the bat, I spent some time perusing their inventory. I was quite impressed with their audiophile selection. Lots of MFSL and Telarc audiophile Jazz and Classical vinyl; as well as, 180 gram vinyl pressings for the diehards! I struck gold, and I was in heaven at the same time! :) Needless to say, I spent a tidy sum that afternoon picking up more records to play on my new turntable. Their vast selection, and the quality of their vinyl(pristine as far as I am concerned) has me coming back here time and time again. I have yet to be disappointed with any of my purchases, and they have done a good job refreshing and procuring vinyl masterpieces. I have been to ALL the records stores in the valley in search of various musical genres of Audiophile Vinyl, and I have never had to look too far beyond this place. And if you are looking to get into vinyl, they also have a nice selection of entry level and mid-level turntables to suit most budgets.

I don’t want to write this review. I want this place to remain a little known treasure. How do I help make it popular enough to stay open, but obscure enough to be able to get what I want with virtually no one else in the store, so I can peruse at my leisure and not bump into others? I drove by several times over the last few months without stopping, with the signage on Thomas I couldn’t tell if the place was going to be amazing — much like some of my favorite ethnic food dives — horrific on the outside, but with amazing food; or awful — like a bunch of meth heads bought the $ 2 records at Goodwill and are now selling them for $ 5 to feed the habit. Happily, the former is true! The place is relatively small, but very well laid out. Good mix of new and used records — and a very accommodating owner(Mike) who is willing to order in records on request(as he did for me!), and a decent selection of rock and punk albums. There are few record players available of varying quality and price point. Lots of 45’s for $ 1.00, and some CDs for good measure. Sadly, the days of getting screaming good deals on vinyl are over — it’s cool again, so now, it’s not just a few of us buying. The upside of that, lots of reissues so I’ve been able to get some treasured old stuff on brand new vinyl(Iggy and the Stooges!). None of it is cheap anymore — but few things worth collecting are. Mike mentioned he gives the best deals on trades in town — so it’s time to go through my collection, determine what I don’t want anymore — and trade it in for stuff I do! So happy to have found this gem of a place — and so sad for my budget!

The ‘In’ Groove is a welcome addition to the crowded Phoenix record store scene. If you are looking for clean or audiophile records, this store has the best selection in the entire state. The bins contain both new and used records and include multiple genres of music from jazz to metal to punk, but rock and roll is still the king, especially the big groups like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. One of the best features of this store is that all the used records in the bins are ultrasonically cleaned and placed in new outer sleeves. I have never known a record store to do this before, but it is wonderful not to have to deal with dirty, dusty records for a change. The store itself is very clean, and the records are organized and easy to find. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable about music. While the emphasis is on clean and audiophile records, there is also a $ 2 section for the crate diggers and a small selection of 45s and CDs. Additionally, the ‘In’ Groove sells supplies for record storage as well as turntables. The turntables are quality products, not the terrible Crosley players or the beat up, broken used ones that Zia has for sale in its stores. If you are planning on selling your records, the ‘In” Groove is an excellent choice, as the owner is very aggressively buying collections of quality material.

I’ve been passing by this place for awhile and I finally stopped in today. The inside is really neat and organized. There’s a lot to choose from too. I spotted a New Order album behind the counter but *sigh* it was $ 65. I did see some affordable gems though like Santo and Johnny and old favorites like Led Zeppelin. They also offer turntables and other accessories. I wasn’t expecting too much until I strolled over to The Smiths section… I spied with my little eye an import copy of The Queen is Dead. It set me back $ 35 bucks but it’s in amazing shape and sounds beautiful. I feel that it’s rare to find a real life non reissue Smiths album(yes I know I sound like a pretentious twat) and I was pleasantly surprised. That’s an understatement, I was jumping up and down squealing with delight. You’ve won my heart In groove, don’t ever change.

I spent all weekend driving all over the city. I hit 9 others from all over town and I have to say all roads always lead me back here. The store is always well organized. They have a good selection of hard to find records. I make a 30 min drive to come here and it’s well worth it
