Yeah, the reviews continue to roll in and echo a resounding truth. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and the fact that they brazenly go unchecked as they discriminate under the guise of enforcing dress code, which only applies to African American minorities. Myself, an African American professional who works in finance, was discriminated against the same way. I’ve seen outburst at the door from both blacks and whites alike as friends are not admitted entrance, while being dressed no different from any white person who was admitted without having to be throughly examined for anything the security guard fathoms. Not only was I turned away on multiple occassions for an extremely racial biased dress code, and advised to leave when I was inside the establishment as a paying customer because the club will be starting soon and your not dressed right,(while old white guys in shorts are allowed to continue their evening), not to mention the kicker, that they will no longer admit me because AND I QUOTE«we had an issue with you that took place in the parking lot and we had to ask you to leave». This was told to me by some dick less security guard, reading it, advising me that they somehow got my ID, identified and labeled me, banning me from their establishment based on activity that took place outside the club. And I guess during all that nonsense that never took place, I gave you my ID and told you who I was as I was being asked to leave the premises. If you want to ban me because I’m black and you don’t want me there, at least make your bullshit strong and not so flimsy, since obviously I was picked out to be picked on, since I have never been arrested, kicked out, or banned from a club in my existence, but being black seems to warrant that at Bobby Q and Q Lounge 8501 N 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ85051, all should avoid, since they disparage not just blacks, but all who tolerate such blatant hypocrisy. Dance your night away to artist you wouldn’t even allow to set place in your establishment. Pathetic

This place has potential but I felt lacked in several areas. I do have to say the staff was really professional and kind that is maybe the reason for the 2 stars. The sounds system and music were both really good. At the bar I ordered two mix drinks. The first tasted really weak. The second was really small and that included a shot of baileys that I did not ask for but yet was charged additionally. After these two drink I was still as sober as I was when I walked in the door. Which led me to the conclusion that they may be watering down their booze. Which makes me really sad. In all my days of bar hopping and clubbing across the globe I have never had such awful and watered down alcohol. This is upsetting that they even need to resort to this practice. I can honestly say their bartender need to learn to mix his cocktails better and learn how to pour the proper quantity into his drinks as well. I may never come back to this establishment again. However to end on a high note the security here was a true pleasure and respectful of the patrons from what I witnessed.

This place is fun & different. First of all is huge! One section have the restaurant side and the other the dancing floor where the Dj plays hit list music. Both the restaurant and the dancing floor are connected through a garage door which opens at 11 pm where there is a Dj who plays Hispanic music with a very decent Hispanic crowd(the ladies are good looking). Both Dj’s are great! in people have a blast until past 2. Outside but inside the facility tacos are sold, so you can grab a taco in your way out. It is the authentic Hispanic experience transport to Phoenix. Great job! Keep up the dressing code because keep people who customers don’t want around away! Keep hiring good looking Hispanic women so more people will come, great idea to convert the huge restaurant into a dancing floor past dinner time and keep bringing good Djs.

I was informed by Unilocal that Bobby Q’s & the Q-Lounge are different businesses. Therefore, I’m rewriting my review addressing my experience at the Q-Lounge. On two occasions, I witnessed the staff and manager of the Q-Lounge turn away African Americans stating their attire was not to standard. One gentleman was in Kakis, the other in jeans. My colleague was told his Kakis were too baggy; while another gentlemen was turned away based on the belief his jeans were too tight. As a white man who travels, I’ve never seen such blatant racism. To turn away my friend in professional attire, but allow me in with shorts is ridiculous. The Q-Lounge will never get a dollar out of me! This place is a law suit waiting to happen.

This place has a FREEBUFFET during Happy Hour from 4 to 8PM on Fridays! I haven’t been there in a long time but the times I went BBQ“s always had good DJ and the dance floor was crowded. Buffet food is always great due to their restaurant next door. I will be going this Friday if they have a DJ. Recommended!

Not very good service. Music is wack. Talk about multiple bad experiences. Dress code is too strict for what it is and the cover charge is ridiculous. And they serve tacos way to ooo late for taco tuesday.

I went here ages ago and accidentally left my rant on their other page… you know, the separate restaurant that is literally physically connected but somehow a totally separate business entity. If you have to explain to your customers on your OTHER Unilocal page that they’ve left a review at «the wrong restaurant», you done messed up on your branding, yo. Anyway, you’d think after all these rants about your dumbass dress code bullshit you’d try to loosen up a bit. After all, you’re located near Ghettrocenter. But nah, you stick to those guns! Bring that 2-star review down to 1! You can do it!

I have to say I had a really good experience with this place. I’ve come home on leave twice in the last year, I’m stationed in San Diego. And I grew up down the street. This is easily the best club in the area that I have found. I’ve gone almost every night of the week, they are all different themed. So make sure you dress appropriately for the night you are going. Even after almost a year since the last time I was there Jesse still heated me by name, and so did the rest of the staff after that night. The servers are awesome and friendly. And I never had to wait long for a drink at the bar even on high traffic nights. The security was awesome while I was there. I saw them get into a confrontation while I was coming in one night and they handled it really well. And I have actually seen them ask people to leave if they are too drunk which in my opinion is a really good thing! Overall they made me feel incredibly welcome and safe every time I went, 2 dance floors with different music, attentive security, super friendly staff that’s obviously all on the same page and customer service orientated. And to top it off awesome tacos to help the hangover. Thanks again everyone!

Let me start off by saying that I’ve been coming here for a VERYVERY long time and always had a good time… HOWEVER…I just had the WORST bar experience EVER this past week! We normally go with a large group of people(20 – 30) but this time only about 4 of us decided to go. We were stopped at the door and I was told my shoes were not appropriate. I look at the security guy like he is on drugs(I’ve got a very expensive pair of designer shoes on!) I then decide to talk to the manager so I go up to the main entrance only to have the security guy follow me up there. Guess he thought I was going to sneak in the front way! While waiting for the manager a group forms around me and I overhear them talking so ask them why they want to talk to the manager and they are there for the same reason. Now ALL of us have on really nice EXPENSIVE shoes so I am thinking What the… Come to find out if you don’t have a strap on your shoe or a backing they won’t let you in! No showing your full back heal here! After seeing the not so happy mob that has appeared, the manager finally lets us in. Now if that is not annoying enough… that is just the tip of the iceberg!!! We told the waitress 3 times we were waiting for our friends to get there before ordering drinks but she was EXTREMELY pushy about it. We finally ordered something just to get her off our backs and had to pay 5 dollars for a cup of ice with a little bit of soda in it! NEXT same waitress tried to take our chair(knowing we were waiting for people) then yet another one comes and takes it causing me to jump up and stop her! When one of our friends show up she goes to the bar to get a drink. She is then told by the waitress in a rude manner that she is not allowed to do that. THEN(yes it goes on and on!!) while dancing I saw them clearing our table so I had to run over and save our drinks! I then instead of being able to dance and enjoy myself had to watch the table like a hawk only to have it happen again! My response this time was«Are you kidding me!!!»(I had half of a drink left) and then was sternly told that since I didn’t have a napkin over my drink it was fair game to be thrown away! The finally straw was after just about everyone had left and the place was empty we were asked to leave our table since we did not have a late night reservation for it. Now mind you the place was EMPTY… there was NOREASON to ask us to get up! I will NEVER go back to this place again! And since we almost always go out in large groups our WHOLEGROUP will be picking other places to go instead.

By far the worst experience ever. I Booked VIP, It took an hour for them to bring bottle service. After I had told them to bring it. The Waitresses where all confused. The cranberry juice they brought out was expired. Wasted about 10 mixed drinks. They did not replace the vodka that was used. They lock the bottle so we had to wait 30 minutes before our waitress gave us another drink. Keep in mind I paid almost 300 $ with gratuity. So I guess she don’t have to work for her too anymore. The VIP service included 4 free passes for people that came after 10pm the front door service guy gave attitude to my guest. I had to go outside So they can let them in. I do not recommend this place to throw a B-Day or any kind of celebration. Not once did the management come talk to me, tells me they don’t give a rats A$$ .Oh and the dj on the Latin side sucked. I get a better mix off my Pandora

Q Lounge Security think they are the FBI, The Club Gods or the Mob’s! So — with the risk of being kicked out for life I am going to write this review — granted — my husband refuses to go there and will probably ban me from going in on my own… so be it. Four of us went there(or tried to anyway) for Valentine’s Day and after waiting in a long line of about 20 people that took forever(well you know, they have to look you up and down and up and down again and you have to lift your jeans up, so they can look at your shoes and then check your ID. that takes time, right?)… So, anyway — three of pass the Security Check!!! Whoohoo… but then my husband is being looked up-down up-down and told he can’t come in wearing boots…(I am now not laughing about their huge poster with THE Dress Code)… Well — he is not wearing boots — they are nice leather shoes and shows them off… OK, now what — security looks at each other, look at another guy– Security Mafia Boss, maybe? — and then proceed to tell him that his Calvin Klein Light wash regular fit Jeans(you know like that ones that are not skinny, too tight or otherwise look like anything abnormal) are… TOO Loose… I just about burst out laughing… but then I realized they were serious… we all leave the line… He goes to change… drives back wearing«tighter» Jeans(we are now crossing our fingers that the Security Gods are Gracious!) and go through another yet long line… Only to find out(of course around the corner) that the cover is $ 15(not that they cared to have that advertised anywhere on their website or even upfront)… each… person… Are you insane — not even clubs Downtown, Tempe or Scottsdale have covers like that. Needless to say we did not get in and took ourselves someplace else that we had fun and were treated like people — I have been inside before and had a good time(who doesn’t have a good time after a couple of drinks in a bar/dance club?) … So — bottom line — if you don’t want to be intimidated or stared down like a criminal or a piece… Don’t go near their security… If you feel Adventurous and Risqué — go and see what happens — if you want to get in, you might want to look for some tight jeans(not too tight though).or go on a practice night and see what people who get lucky and get wear and follow their fashion wardrobe decisions. Or print a copy of their Dress Code and tape it to you mirror — check three times before you walk out the door… Why isn’t there a big 0 star option on Unilocal

DONOTEVERGOTOTHISPLACEON A SATURDAYNIGHT!!! My boyfriend and I recently went for the first time and the security treated us HORRIBLY! They charged $ 15PERPERSON first off(when you can go to places like The W Hotel in Scottsdale and have NOCOVER and Club Mint where ladies are free and guys are $ 10-much nicer) and the girl taking the money wasn’t knowledgeable at all about the time the restaurant closes. She had to look at her co-wrker, which to me seemed suspect, as if she was lying. We were meeting up with friends who had a friend with them that paid for them all to get in($ 45 total) & when we decided not to go in, we called them to the lobby. We stood there talking for about 5 mins til the bouncer(who was standing there the entire time) said we had to pay or move out of the lobby. So we went outside, then 5 mins later, another bouncer approaches my boyfriend and says«You’re going to have to leave since you were being rude to other bouncers or I’m gonna move you»…then it went wayyyyy left. Another much older bouncer approached and told us to leave and then proceeded to throw out racial comments«leave you boy», and you boy this/that, also saying«better listen to your wife» & «you don’t want this” — making threats. That establishment is not worth $ 15 per person and the people that operate it is not customer friendly… it’s all about making money. Oh, and you better know the ppl at the door so you won’t have to pay to get in. Bobby Q will NEVER see my money or my business again! Pass the word… THEY’RERACIST!!! They really receive NOSTARS from me.

This place used to be really cool then somewhere along the line some genius thought it would be appropriate to attempt to turn a decent place located in a working class neighbourhood into a swanky«Scottsdale Club». Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for the betterment of any venue. Especially one that I have frequented since the Bobby Magee’s era with the lowered dance floor. But when management starts to nitpick about trivial clothing details it’s time for me to pull a LeBron and take my talents(and friends… and money) elsewhere. There have been a couple of notable«wardrobe malfunction» incidents with my friends over the years. In one incident the door guy deemed it necessary to reject entrance to my friend because his jeans were supposedly«too baggy» I’m sure the Bag-o-meter wasn’t properly calibrated for an accurate reading. who decides what is baggy and what isn’t? …I personally think it was my friends cornrows. Let’s be real. Albeit a decent guy with a job and manners he probably looked too thuggy for the«high class» Q Lounge. But I digress. Let’s fast forward a few years and talk about the time another one of my friends was turned down because of his shirt. Well, we go around the corner to K-Mart and purchase a button down dress shirt with a collar. We proceed to the entrance only for this gem of a doorman to deny my buddy once again, this time b/c the shirt he just bought was too big. :-) Damn, ya gotta love these clowns. The latest incident was when I was denied access because my $ 200 jeans had manufactured rips in them(see exhibit A) …no soup for me I guess. Rocket Scientist, they’re called«distressed jeans» and believe it or not it’s a current fashion. So, needless to say I think it’s time I part ways with the olé Q Lounge and their little Napoleon of a «Pro-Mexican» manager. I’m sure going to miss having my birthday party there and having the staff pretend to take pictures of my entourage that will never be posted on their website. Oddly, there is plenty of room for Spanish-speaking individuals. I’m not a racist I’m just calling it the way I see it. Okay, let’s finalize this. This club is not Scottsdale! … as much as they would like it to be. It’s in a Blue Collar area with patrons that reflect that. They can and will continuously add silly items to the dress code to fit their profiling objectives. Yes, it’s all a guise so they can PROFILE certain individuals. Haven’t you heard that you can dress a pig in a tuxedo but it’s still a pig. If they are concerned about security they should hire more police. The manager seems to favor Spanish-speaking individuals. I’m just going to leave it at that. There are too many decent places that are quickly sprouting up in this area that one could go to then to contend with the Door Nazis and Mngr R2D2 at Q Lounge. Happy travels and don’t drink and drive. ;-) That’s my review! From an educated, articulate and well-spoken individual.

I came here quite a few times with friends. It’s not bad for being in the city but sure as hell isn’t as good as Mill Ave. The people here are ghetto as f. My lady got groped by a disturbingly fat kid as we made our way to the dance floor. All the kids that come here are just punk kids that are too broke or would get their asses thrown out at a strip club. A lot of wannabes here from the 18 – 22 crowd that can’t go anywhere else. Pretty much it. Drinks aren’t too expensive but they’re not worth the price charged. Security acts too hard ass. Parking sucks, always packed. I hate come here. The women are just… like shooting fish in a barrel. Who wants the first piece of bread in the loaf? Nobody, but everyone touches it. You get my drift. Will I stop coming here? I should, but I won’t…friends like the bs here too much.

I went to Bobby Q’s/The Q Lounge Friday evening for our works happy hour. After having a long week I was ready for some drinks. Our server Kiara was super friendly and very efficient. It was pretty busy in there but she still made sure we did not see the bottom of our glasses. There is a free buffet from four to eight with the purchase of a drink. The food there was amazing! We ate BBQ chicken, brisket, nachos and assorted fruits and veggies. If I had to change one thing about the experience it would be the DJ that played a bunch of random songs. Its hard to find a place with a decent DJ nowadays that actually mixes music rather than playing their iPod over the speakers. Overall this is a great happy hour place just make sure Kiara is your server!
