The Wine Store at Tarbells

Just like the Tavern, this place has been under my nose forever and I have never been. Stupid me. We were immediately greeted by the manager who I just wanted to huge!
He clearly is my spirit animal or something because he offered me prosecco right off the bat! It was delish so we bought a bottle. Hubs got some beer as well and we just sat and spoke with the manager about events and tastings and what they are all about. He was telling us about his happenings and the Tavern’s etc. Really nice guy.
The wines are pricey, however, it is worth it for a special date night in, a gift or some other occasion. Or if you are a wine drinker who appreciates and can afford the nicer wine all the time. then that is your place. I would go back for tastings or for a nice bottle to share with friends for sure.

Sweet goodness, I’m in heaven here! The ambience is perfect — trendy, casual, upscale — all at the same time. The wood paneled ceiling over the bar was stunning. The guitars signed by the likes of Billy Joel were great talking points. The tvs with football on made for a comfort feel. But the wine menu was anything but traditional. It had [albeit pricey] offerings from around the world. And the bartender was knowledgable about them all.
I asked him about a French white that was listed as a wine by the glass. He told me it was comparable to a Sauvignon Blanc, which I don’t typically care for. He explained that SVs out of France taste different than those out of Cali or New Zealand. And then he offered me a sample — it was delicious. I ended up ordering the glass and loved it.
Towards the end of our drink the bartender overheard us talking about the entrée pictures on Unilocal and gave some suggestions for the house specialties at Tarbell’s. He did not steer us wrong! The scotch beef and sausage pasta were to die for. He also connected us with a couple sitting near us who frequent both Tarbell’s and The Wine Store — they recommended the cheesecake at Tarbell’s for the caramel sauce. It was nice chatting with them as well.
I really appreciate the atmosphere, quality wine, and great service at The Wine Store. Can’t wait to come back soon!

Prompt friendly service locating a Rose for me. They have removed «historic» wine racks and have created a boutique feel. Love the open window to adjacent restaurant as it created more breathing (pun?) space for The Wine Store. Appreciated broad range of bottle prices.

Had a wonderful experience today at The Wine Store! The employees are extremely friendly and welcoming. They are eager to help you find what you are looking for, very knowledgable, and you can tell they love what they do. I will definitely be coming back and will recommend to friends.

Made another visit to see the progress and check out the new Tarbell’s Tavern next door. Wine selections have been expanded to include several daily drinkers that were missing initially. But we hear they are changing the format yet again to have less selections but perhaps serve wine and a small menu. I’m all for innovation but hope they will settle on something soon that we can depend on. The Tavern seems incomplete as well and another Special Occasion priced menu. Of course they are a gathering spot for PV’s finest. Guess Arcadia is where we belong.

Check out the wine store at Tarbells. Mark, you’ve done it again. This Chef, Entrepreneur knows how to keep it consistent. The broad selection of wines is for fussy wine enthusiasts like myself. The location is convenient and the personnel are very attentive and knowledgeable.
Try The Tavern next door. This Chef owned business stays on track with Mark Tarbell’s attention to detail in every bite the customer experiences. My first time I tried the taco’s cooked to perfection and every bite gets better than the last. I loved the bleu cheese salad. Crunchy with a slaw type texture. The portions are right on and the staff is attentive. I will go back and take others with me. So good…
