I started working from home and Cut Throat Barber was now inconvenient, and VIP is in my neighborhood so I thought to give them a try. First, the shop is a bit rundown, that is visible. The older guy was my preferred barber, for which the lone star represents. He was semi consistent. Over a month ago I needed a haircut bc I was going to propose to my girlfriend in New Years Eve, and the older guy was busy, so I settled for the younger get guy, which may be the owner or manager. It was apparent he had a rough night. Blood shot eyes, spit stuck on the side of his mouth. Instead of reading the signs, I told him I wanted a fade, and a part in both sides, with spiked Hair on top. Easy right? This fool took a 2 and ran it up the side of my head to the top where I wanted my part. After specific instruction, this ass ruined my hair. I had to wear a beanie when I proposed. Avoid this place, or at least that guy. 19 years cutting hair and he still doesn’t know what a fade is! PAMF.

So my boyfriend has been searching for a good barbershop for the past years. He tried a few barbershops around the neighborhood, supercuts, even that place keep it cut a few stores down from vip barbershop. None satisfied him. They would always screw up the haircut somehow, rush it, taking only ten minutes to do the whole haircut. Finally i pointed out to him this place and after we left vip he told me «finally! A barbershop i like!» Eric gave him a haircut. He was very professional and nice. He took his time and you can tell he is a perfectionist on his work; which is great. The reason why i gave it 4 stars is because one of the other barbers had his wife and kids there. I understand it might be a family business but it just looks unprofessional when you stop giving someone a haircut to play with your kid or talk to your wife that is hanging out at your job. Plus while waiting we were never told«we will be with you in a few«or something the guy with his family finished giving someone a haircut before Eric and never acknowledged we were there waiting, to let us know Eric would help us once finished. Instead he went out to smoke a cigarette and came back and gave one of his kids(I’m guessing it was since he was there with the wife and other 2 children) a haircut before helping my boyfriend. My review and advise would be to be more aware of customers as they wait. We were very happy with Eric, but at first the whole experience made us feel unwelcome. with all that behind if you want a good haircut as my boyfriend said, this is the place. You won’t regret it.

I have been to barber shops all over Phoenix. Spartacus has by far been the best barber I have ever had his Modo«never let a hair behind» he is so attention to detail and takes his time to give the best hair cut possible. If I ever move I am going to fly back to Phoenix solely to get my hair cut Spartacus is my barber for life.

My favorite barber shop in Phoenix. They take their time giving you a nice old school haircut. I got a high and tight and they took great care on the shave and my beard, at the end you get an after shave rub and a hot towel. Just super great, not too expensive and you leave feeling good about yourself.

Sparticus is by far the BEST barber in all of Phoenix and Scottsdale. I’ve been to a couple different barber shops all over the valley and none of them pay as close attention to detail like Sparticus does. He uses the correct technique and listens to exactly what his customers want. Don’t go anywhere else to get a fade!!! This is THE spot!

Spartacus is, hands down, the best barber in town. He takes pride in his work, doesn’t rush anything, and gives what customers want. Highly highly recommended. He has a customer for life in me.

Used a place a couple stores over and didn’t like that they couldn’t cut down to a certain length. Tried this place out for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. Wait wasn’t more than 10 minutes or so. Spartacus did a great job. A chill environment that takes the time to hook you up with exactly what you want.

Wow. Another excellent barbershop by the house in Phoenix. I usually go to Camelback Barbershop in the Biltmore area, but they are devout Jews. With that being said, they’re closed on Saturdays to go to the synagogue. I needed a haircut today because my girlfriend was coming in to town and I couldn’t look like scruff mcgruff. So i hopped on ol reliable and searched for a close barbershop. I live on 28th street and V.I.P. is right up the street. I believe Eric cut my hair. It was done very quickly, and the way he cut my medium skin fade was in a way I’ve never seen it done before. His line and edge up work was flawless, and it seemed effortless to him. IDK if I’ll be leaving Camelback Barbershop for loyalty reasons, but this is just as good as a shop, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone if you need a haircut.

I’ve gotten my haircut here multiple times and both Spartacus and Eric do a phenomenal job. I get a low fade and not many people do it correctly. They are both very friendly, thorough and affordable. Highly recommend!

This is a great barbershop. I have tried a lot of Russian barbers and Eric that works here I think offers the best shave I have had in Phoenix. This guy is very professional and after about ten times with him he always provides the same service. I have watched him with children and he is very attentive to parents wants. Overall, I think the best shave in Phoenix. Also, the price of the shave is very competitive compared to other shops in town..

I was in town and badly needed a trim. I’d like to recommend Mike to any who appreciate a real barbershop… including straight razor, warm shaving cream, hot face towel, etc. And did I mention affordable? Super job VIP, see you next time I’m in Phoenix!

I’ve gone to this place off and on for the past couple of years because of the convenient location. The hair cuts are great and the barbers are friendly. However, one barber reeked so bad of cigarettes that I was nauseous the entire time. I could not wait to leave and breathe some fresh air. Also, his cell phone kept ringing and he would stop to take the call every time. Very unprofessional behavior. Another annoying thing is that they NEVER open on time. The weekend hours says it opens at 10am but someone will stroll in 20 – 30 minutes late. This a another reason I don’t frequent this shop often. I would recommend Camelback Barber at The Colonnade Mall on Camelback.

Men– my husband has urged me to let you all know that this is the SPOT. No matter how long the wait is they give each person the needed amt of time per cut. Spartacus is who does his hair and he hasnt been to anyone else in this city for years. Try them you will not be dissappointed.

No bueno. Had an okay haircut here once that would have earned probably 3 stars including mediocre service. Went back again today for the same reason — they’re open when my usual place is closed. Or so I thought. I called at 3:45 to make sure they were open, and the guy on the phone assured me I had until 5pm. When I got there at 4:10, he said sorry and pointed to the clock. When I told him I was the one that called, he unapologetically pointed back at the clock and resumed his haircut. I won’t chance another lackluster haircut here. Instead, I’ll go back to mid city, where the sketchy location gives way to cheap, quality haircuts with great service.

After suffering through a lot of crappy Great Clips cuts, I found this neighborhood barber shop right across the street from my house. The main barber here is a young Russian guy with a NYC accent. He was extremely thorough and gave me the most perfect #2 cut I have ever had. He did a straight-razor finish, all for $ 14 cash only. Highly recommend

Located by the Sprouts on Indian School, the owner created a place that is very clean and upscale. I really like that it is open 7 days a week. Next time your looking for an nice shave and hair cut check this place out.
