This place is just making the other two wine tasting rooms right up the street look even better. Cute décor, great location, cute idea to do wine based cocktails… If only the wine didn’t taste like nail polish remover. It would also be cool if the servers knew anything about the wine they were serving… And didn’t roll their eyes when you ordered a flight. Two stars is a generous review.

Very disappointed with my visit. The Barrel knew a group of 25+ of us were coming and the staff couldn’t have been more unwelcoming. They didn’t have any other customers as we all came in. They were slamming down drinks and rolling eyes. They were totally annoyed by us even though we were paying customers and generously tipping. It was a hot and humid night and we essentially had to beg the employees to put on the AC. At the end of the night the staff decided they would rather sit outside with the random people/non customers(who had been lingering on the street for hours) leaving all of us to roam as we please. I’m hoping the owner sees this review and realizes how easily people could help themselves to free glasses of wine. It’s a real shame the ladies behind the bar weren’t welcoming. We could have had many ladies nights there but we will not be back. I don’t usually do reviews but our visit was so unpleasant that I felt others should know about it.

pretty cool place! yes, it’s a winery but think of this more as a brewery. you can do flights by writing on chalk boards(seen in the pictures) and having the staff bring them to you. the reds were good. whites were better. fruit wines were the best. we were on the only ones there on a Saturday afternoon. the guy behind the bar gave us a lot of information. just wish the menus offered more information about the wines. they offer food but we didn’t try it.

The atmosphere was very nice and we had a great time listening to music but I have to agree it’s one of the other reviewers who said the wine was not that great. I had the Pinot Noir and it tasted very watered down and like a cheap boxed wine. I ended up with a bad headache which usually happens to me when there are a lot of sulphates on the wine. I feel bad leaving this review bc we did have a good time but I think they need to change the supplier.

Stopped by here on a whim with my girlfriend and a couple friends one random Saturday night. We all had already eaten so none of us ordered any any food but the selections sounded appetizing. My girlfriend and I each got flights of wine and our friends ordered mixed drinks. The atmosphere is relaxing and our waitress was personable and attentive. Overall, I had an enjoyable experience and would recommend this place to others.

The Barrel is probably one of the best places in the local area. The grapes are grown and the wine is all made in Pennsylvania. Six wines in a barrel on tap. The mix drinks are house made and the best in the area. I heard the cook has a background as a fine dining cook and the food offered is top tier bar food. I swing by weekly and the live music is the top tier. I avoid places with live music but they bring in some great talent. Add this to your list for dinner, drinks after or the entire night out. All in all this place is worth checking out and stopping in before the 11pm move to PJ’s or the 1pm move to bistro.

Drinks are good, little pricey if you are planning on staying the night. Waitress is very nice and is on the ball. We didn’t have to wait for a table but I could imagine that there will be a wait if you come prime time. There are not many tables but the wait is worth it!

Not a huge fan of their wine, but the wine cocktails that I’ve had at the Barrel are great! There was a peach mango cocktail this summer that was awesome! Otherwise, the atmosphere is pretty awesome. The live music the couple times I was there wasn’t great– I’m not sure if that was due to music itself or the acoustics of keyboard and live singers in a small tasting room. I think a CD/MP3 would have been better for the ambiance.

Hands down the worst wine I ever had. The atmosphere is nice, plus there is seating outside. But the wine… not good. Sorry.

My boyfriend and I usually go to Taste to have wine while we are in Phoenixville, but we thought to give The Barrel a try. We were deeply disappointed. The wait was over half an hour and the wine tasted terrible! We would not have minded the wait if the wine was worth it. It’s pricier than The Taste too. The wine tasted watered down and cheap boxed wine. Never will make this mistake again.

I had a flight of 3 wines and 2 wine mixed drinks. I was impressed with 4⁄5 of the 5 selections and would definitely come back. Also ordered the bruschetta which tasted good, but the tostada was a little soggy.

The Barrel is a cool concept but their product is horrible. It tasted like cheap boxed wine that sat in my car too long on a hot July day. I hope that as a wine bar they can expand beyond a selection of six basic cheap wines… Otherwise, they won’t last. The ambiance and staff are great… It’s only the product that is suffering.

The wine is local and ok. I like the chambourcin. It is cool that three serve barrel, non barrel, and mixed drink wines. Very fun place.

Great place, great drinks, and great food. Came here for a girls night on a Tuesday. Got there early, and then they got pretty busy later on. There was only one waitress/bartender and she was doing a great job managing the crowd until more help arrived. It was a well run establishment for only being open for such a short time. We all got flights and another drink as well as almost everything on the menu. I would highly recommend coming out to the Barrel!

Love it love it love it!!! I finally got to try the barrel for the first time! We got the sample for $ 12 and I also got Pinot noir an for was pretty good as usual! They have life music(first Friday) and the atmosphere is very nice and relaxing! So glad this place is in phoenixville!
