Love a good hotdog and the best one in Pickens is at Heidi’s. The prices are reasonable and the service is excellent. Located in the Ingles strip Mall it’s a little off the beaten path but well worth searching out for lunch.

If you are hankering for a hot dog and somehow find yourself in Pickens, I would recommend you to Heidi’s. It seems like a weird operation to have in a strip mall; I cannot possibly imagine how much money they actually make in a day… probably not a lot, as their hot dogs are very affordable. I was looking around for a local establishment, and Heidi’s popped up on my radar, so I stopped in. This joint is really low-key and no-frills. I got 2 hot dogs for $ 4.25; all hot dogs come with chili. I played the field and went with a coleslaw dog and a FIRE dog. The coleslaw dog tasted like a plain chili dog with coleslaw on top. The FIRE dog was a chili dog with some mild jalapeño relish. I also tried their chow-chow relish, which was a lot more flavorful than the jalapeño relish. You may think to yourself, «Why are you giving them such a low rating if they are just serving plain ol’ weenies in buns?» To you, I reply that my hot dogs were not hot, just lukewarm at best. This is a nice family-oriented establishment, so do your duty and patronize them, but I will say that Bojangle’s down the street is more attractive for a gut-busting meal.
