The drive getting to the Peninsula Campground wasn’t enjoyable driving in the dark, getting lost=The Garmin didn’t know where Peninsula Campground’s location is and forget Google Maps while your searching – 7980 Rattlesnake Bar Road via Google Maps doesn’t exist according to the Garmin: The Peninsula Campground just doesn’t exist – HUH?! Oh, btw~it’s pitch black driving these rural roadways, the Garmin said to take Jackass Road to Pilot View but, guess what? The street had a private gate blocking anyone from having road access to Pilot View Road in order getting to the shortcut to Rattlesnake Bar Road! Seriously, there are no street lights along the rural roadways, and while driving in the dark, you can’t read the street signs=no fluorescent printed signs. .. i.e., Jackass Road(yes, you read THAT street right!) was handwritten by someone(?)! The Peninsula Campground sign was incorrectly pointing in the wrong direction so, I found myself in the cool, little town called, «Cool» at the only gas station across the way from Wells Fargo Bank underneath their well-illuminated gas pumps perusing over Ranger Rick’s Folsom State Park map! Jackass, Cool, Pilot View, Animal Farm. .. Geez~Who conjured up these names for these streets and towns? Somebody must have drank too much wine, beer or hard cider while visiting the wineries and possibly a multitude of MIXED, alcoholic libations in Somerset, Jackson, Bucks Bar, Pi Pi, El Dorado just making the rounds – somewhere where the person who named these streets and towns had possibly well-over a gallon of liquid gold creating their cathartic, drunken state naming all these eccentric names all over El Dorado County! The Campground’s roads have hairpin turns and narrow roadways; the campsite #14 is bone dry and very little shade. The bathroom is by campsite #12 and this bathroom doesn’t have showers!

The site are tall grass. And a lot of walking up and down. I think it look awesome. You can see the lake from site 13. Not a crips view but still magical. Showers are by site 75. So it’s a little drive but at least you can check the place out
