We chose to spend my husbands 40th birthday at the Zephyr along with 17 friends! The service and food were amazing. We also spent my birthday at the Zephyr this past weekend as well and had such a great evening. Now, we maaay be a little biased as we supply the Zephyr with eggs and syrup from our farm :) But I wanted everyone to know that they do what they say: They buy local ingredients. We know the farms where they get their pork and beef and milk, etc. Michael does an amazing job with the menu and Amelia makes desserts that you MUST save room for! My menu favorites: Zucchini fritters, the steak with onions and tomatoes and whatever cheesecake they have that evening! So incredibly glad The Zephyr is in our Catskills backyard!

Love the atmosphere of this place! We went around 5, on a friday and it was slow, which was perfect. We ordered spicy kale salad, was fresh and amazing. Then as entrees got the salmon and chili with beef again was on point and we loved it! What me and my boyfriend loved about is that we eat on the healthier side so this place is had farm to table food and lighter options. Highly recommend this place!

We had a very enjoyable dinner on a busy night served by a friendly and efficient wait staff. Zephyr and Peekamoose are definitely the two best restaurants in the Pine Hill area. There is room for improvement in Zephyr’s wine menu however — some better selections should be added.

Truly 5 stars — Amazing food, service, large portions, and great prices. We came here on a fall Monday night. The town seemed very quiet and dark, but the restaurant was lively and warm for the cold night. The servers, especially ours — Kimberly, are all very genuine and attentive. They have a full bar with a wide selection, including top shelf for great prices(all cocktails are under $ 13) and much larger-than-average sizes. I got the All About Eve, which is hard cider and raspberry liqueur and loved it! The chicken pot pie has a different twist but is really good — it comes with a large piece of filo dough over a chicken stew instead of in the traditional pie form. I had the eggplant napoleon from the specials menu which was amazing. The garlic aioli, sweet basil emulsion, and balsamic syrup really made the dish. The maple roasted duck was a pretty sizable portion with amazing stuffing and vegetables. For dessert we got the rice pudding and carrot cake. Both were amazing and came in huge portions! Everything was so amazing. We’re not from this area and were staying in Phoenicia, but if we came here again, we’d all reorder the same things.

My wife and I were very impressed and will be back. The zucchini fritters are fresh and amazing. The chicken pot pie makes you feel right at home and the deserts are heavenly. Felt like we made some friends because the waitress was so so sweet and face is great tips for my pregnant wife Te bartender made us laugh and was having a blast. We will be back but not soon enough!

I recently spent some time in the Catskills and this was my favorite restaurant of the trip. Food was great, prices reasonable and the staff was friendly and accommodating. For dessert, the flourless chocolate cake was a chocolate lovers dream.

You can tell the food is homemade and high quality. Best of all the staff cares about what they’re serving. I definitely recommend a stop at this hidden gem. We will definitely be back for more good eats and even better service. My family went here for dinner before close on a Thursday night and were blown away. We enjoyed the nachos and chicken wings for appetizers and burgers and penne vodka for entrees. The loaded burgers were cooked perfectly and penne a la vodka was done well. We took the servers advice(about the owners wife being a pastry chef) and ordered dessert. The cookie tower was out of bounds!

My friends and I went here two days in a row during a recent trip to the Catskills because of how much we loved the food. I had the warm Granola Bowl on Day 1 and then the Quinoa Bowl in Day 2. Both were served in hearty portions and were filling. The cheddar biscuits are amazing, too! The service was very good and there was live music on Sunday. If I go back to the Catskills, I will be back at Zephyr for more!

Pretty awful. Everything the waitress did seemed like a chore for her. The pasta was tasteless and watery. The corn-crab cakes were missing the crab. No beer on tap — just bottles served in pint glasses.

Brilliant food, awesome service and staff, can’t rave enough! My husband and I recently got married in Fleischmanns and we choose to do our 33 person rehearsal dinner at Zephyr in the back room. The owner Michael, and his staff bent over backward for us, and the food was absolutely fabulous, so much so, that part of our group returned a few days later for more! The drinks, dinner salads, desserts were all amazing. He has a great selection for group meals, and he actually significantly tweaked the chicken dish to fit my families tastes, and it was so delicious and a great experience. WEWILLBEBACK! Many thanks, Allison & Bob

Ate there last night with my wife and two kids. Atmosphere is nice and the organic/grass fed menu worked for my son. The food was good, but, not really good or great. So, for the same money, the Peekamoose is much better.

We have eaten here many times since first review. This is just an update on one of the items on the menu. We don’t recommend the crab cakes. They are mostly filler and there is no crab texture or flavor. This doesn’t take away from our overall rating but just serves as a suggestion for future reference. Everything else is great.

For the last six months I’ve been taking trips up to the Catskills for various reasons. I’ve eaten at the Zephyr numerous times and every single time I am more impressed. The consistency, attention to detail and the food in general is really dope. And I almost find it strange that there is such a good restaurant buried in the middle of nowhere. If by any rare chance you’re anywhere around here make sure you stop in. recently I’ve had the ribeye which was fucking awesome, and the salmon which was equally great. You have my word this place is awesome

My new favorite place to eat. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and super chef/owners. Small menu which is just ducky with me. I’d rather see 10 fab eats than a 6 pages of mediocre food. Desserts are off the wall. different and delicious. The early bird offers a great choice and the price is right. The Brunch is nothing short of a wonderful experience. I can’t say enough about this new hidden gem in the Catskill Mountains. Love it!

This could be your FAVORITE restaurant, REALLY! The place is truly a diamond in the rough with FANTASTIC food and GREAT service. The Bratwurst is AMAZING! The Muscles are MAGNIFICENT! Everyone in the place seemed as happy with the food as we were. We liked this place so much on Saturday night we came back for diner again on Sunday. It was that good. They also have an awesome selection of specialty micro brew beers available. I suggest you make it a point to get to this place before the rest of the world finds out about it and you can’t get a table.

Came here with 8 friends(party of 9) after a day of snowboarding at Bellayre. It is less than a 10 minute drive from the mountain and is AMAZING in every way! We got there around 4:30 and there were only a few parties there, but by 5:00, the place was packed! They do a special prefixed menu Thursday-Sunday which is AMAZING! I think it’s $ 22 for a glass of wine, appetizer, entrée and dessert! Portions of all dishes are good and quality of food was good as well. This town is so small and so cute — it was a real nice escape from the city. Everyone tried something different off the menu, I tried about 5 appetizers and 4 entrees. Loved the soup — it was a tomato based the day we went. The zucchini fritter was also fantastic! Salad was a large portion. Salmon entrée had glazed honey, I don’t like mixing salty and sweet, but my husband loved this dish. I got the spaghetti with mussels which was sooo good! The sauce was delicious and there was a generous portion of fresh mussels. This was definitely my favorite dish, however the other pasta option was also very good. Desserts I’m not a fan of cakes in general, but I tried the carrot cake, flourless chocolate cake and pudding. All were done VERY well, chocolate cake was the sweetest and most decadent, as expected. Would have been great with a cup of coffee and vanilla ice cream Would most definitely recommend to others as well as come here again! Loved this little town, the restaurant itself was adorable! And the staff was very nice and great at handling a full house and large parties. Every person in our party left so happy and full!

Perfect design for this quaint location, the wood floors and welcoming color scheme make you feel like you’re in a modern place but Zephyr still has that rustic Catskill mountain atmosphere. The server was super sweet and the I loved that the coffee was served in mason jars… and I will never forget how robust and delicious the coffee was! Now on to the food; the zucchini appetizer was so light, flavorful and the sauce that accompanied it was the ultimate enhancement! Next up; the quinoa salad with avocado… the texture combination was like a party In my mouth! Last but DEFINITELYNOT least-the carrot cake… it was so moist and just the right amount of sweet; I actually took a piece home for my husband! Overall this was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to go back next time I am in the Catskills. Bravo to doing it all right!

Well then, I am very pleased to be reviewing this quaint little establishment, The Gentle Zephyr. I stumbled upon this little gem while in the Catskill Mountains, taking a weekend refresher with a lovely young lady that I am friendly with. After a long day of rowboating in the lake, and plucking wildflowers for one another, we thought it would be lovely to treat ourselves to a gourmet meal! A local fellow that we had exchanged pleasantries with earlier(Bryson Biggins, I believe he said his name was?) recommended that we try a brand new dining establishment called«The Gentle Zephyr». I thought to myself, that sounds like just the place to put a cap on this tremendous day! Well, my lady friend and I drove the Renault I had borrowed for the weekend to the hamlet of Pine Hill, and spotted a lovely bistro, with a cozy little verandah and a distinguished clientele enjoying themselves with glasses of wine and laughter. We were seated by the front window by a very friendly(and lovely, I might add) woman that I believe may have been the owner! She played very coy, perhaps sensing that she had somewhat of a well known Unilocal food critic in her midst. I gave her a wink and a smile, as if to suggest«everything is going to be fine, my dear.» She presented us with the evening’s offerings and I must admit, they sounded scrumptious. After deliberating for a short while, I decided on the quinoa salad and a lemon and herb fire roasted Mulligan Creek Acres free range chicken. My female companion ordered likewise, and we decided to share two bottles of Chardonnay. After a bit of rousing conversation with my partner, the food arrived and looked lovely. The aromas were tantalizing and the presentation was of very passable quality. The quinoa was adequately prepared and was seasoned and flavored ever so sufficiently. The chicken had a respectable mouthfeel, a genuinely satisfactory flavor, and a profoundly requisite originality. After a few moments of enjoying the food that was presented, the lovely hostess came to our table and struck up a conversation. I believe she had done some research and fully realized just who she had in her restaurant. She blushed and was clearly a bit smitten. I, being the gentleman that I am, played the situation perfectly and managed to give her the attention and affections that she deserved all the while saving face with my lovely companion. We toasted the the hostess/owner to the success of her fabulous new establishment and finished our meal with smiles on our faces. All in all, I would recommend the«Gentle Zephyr» to any and all travelers in this region and what’s more, would recommend this region for all manner of refreshing, exhilarating, energizing outdoor pursuits. Thank you, Dabney Lacey
