Sad to say this store has lost its charm over the years. Joan has interesting pieces, but the customer service ruins the experience. Joan has been busy with her new book and it shows, the store just doesn’t have the heart it used too. Staff seemed bothered to give assistance. Have gone to this shop for many years, but last few times have been disappointing, hoping it will turn around.

Everyone walks in and says«I could live here!» For good reason. The buyers have sensational taste. It’s pricey, but if you’re shopping for goods at this price point I hesitate to think where else you could go for a selection like this. Besides furnishings there are great gifts, coffee table books, Farrow and Ball paint, kitchen items, etc. There are 3 branches but none hold a candle to Pine Plains. Its really fun to shop there. They have a lovely website and weekly newsletter about whats going on in the area. Theres also a radio show on the local npr station which could be improved upon. I think they just need to learn how to keep a conversation flowing«on air»

Stop, HammerTown. Can’t touch this? No wait– you totally can touch this. Nice but not«out of my budget nice» selection of wares here at Hammertown. Every time we are in America’s Highlands we stop into this nice little«barn» full of good taste. They even have a clearance section. Books, knick knacks, furniture, housewares, cute stuff, pretty stuff, goofy stuff all here in an absolutely beautiful renovated barn in the quiet surroundings of Pine Plains. Rub elbows with the Zagats(maybe you have seen their guides?) as you pick out a new oven mitt. You will like Hammertown, you really will. Upscale down home goodness.

Great store for home furnishings as well as kitchen stuff. And a friendly website too.
