GF& Vegan bakery w/small food menu. I liked their Upper Crust cupcake & chocolate cheesecake cupcake but did not love them… but I’m GF not vegan. So vegan sweets don’t totally do it for me but these were edible & good enough to enjoy. The upper crust topping reminded me of a creamy lighter version of a GF coffee cake — I could see them as a special occasion muffin. THATSAID, their GF pita bread is some of the best GF bread I have ever had. The texture, aroma, chewy bite, and sandwich-ability all made me feel like I was eating gluten bread. Compared to a gluten pita it is a wee bit denser & the taste has a touch more grain/health like flavor. But the texture & smell & bite wow — I bought 6 more & froze them @home! Note: they didn’t serve me the falafel pita sandwich toasted, so it didn’t feel like a «hot pita» falafel sandwich, if that’s what u are craving, maybe ask if they can. I recommend taking pita home, toast it yourself & enjoy steamy goodness with dips & hot falafel! Pita is on the pricy side(6 for $ 20) but as GF, that’s par for the course — they are a nice size & I’m full after eating 1 sandwich which I can’t say for other GF bread.

This establishment is a 10 star if they had one… While visiting Miami was taken here to try some vegan desserts I was VERY apprehensive as I love vegan food but not the desserts as I find it chalky and not flavorful. Reluctantly I tired a cupcake and was BLOWN away it was like a «regular» desert not missing a thing. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and couldn’t help but keep saying how surprised it was so flavorful !! I think too much I was in love .This place is sure not a disappointment

Came by to try out some new pastries at closing time & I was warmly welcomed! Love this place because its VEGAN& gluten free with very reasonable pricing! Enjoyed my muffins, cupcake, & cookie! Will be back to check out more of what they have & looking forward to what else they will add next. Chocolate Macaroon Cookie! Amazing! 9⁄10 Upper Crust Muffin! Not my fave but still nice. 4⁄10 Go Bananas Muffin! Love it! 9⁄10 Blueberry Blast Muffin! Pretty good. 7⁄10 Only improvement I could suggest would be to go organic as well!

I waited for months for Start From Scratch bakery to open. My husband and I are Mon-Fri vegans(I know real vegans hate that). So we were really excited to check this place out. The vanilla cupcake I had was not good. In fact, 90% of the $ 4+ cupcake ended up in the garbage. I was really disappointed. The cream cheese frosting was sour and the cake part was completely tasteless… even for a vegan cupcake. I hate to compare, but Bunnie Ckes in Wynwood has delicious vegan, gluten free cupcakes. But I’m still giving this place 4 stars. Why? The macaroon cookie. The other thing that made me sad the night of my visit was that we only purchased one macaroon cookie. Next time I’m buying enough to fill my bathtub and eating my way out of there. Vegan or not, it was hands down the most delicious cookie of any kind that I’ve had in my life. I’m a huge fan of healthy eating and I wish this place nothing but the best. The world needs more bakeries like this and less processed chemical filled junk.

Amazing chocolate chip macaroon cookies! Yummy upper crust muffins! Bought 5! They were amazing. Best part is that everything is gluten free so there’s no fear of cross contamination!

My Fiancé and I noticed this bakery while it was still under construction a couple months back, as we were eating one night at ‘Apizza Brooklyn’ in the same strip mall. Extremely intrigued since the bakery offers vegan options, we called in for projected opening date. Eventually we were able to stop by and check the place out. As we walked into the bakery we looked around getting a glimpse of the place, though realized we weren’t greeted I went ahead and said hello to the woman upfront while two other ladies were conversing towards the back of the shop. We ordered a coffee and two muffins, as we inquired about a recommendation on the muffins the woman whom attended us didn’t have much to say, regardless we ordered, payed and went our way. Overall the bakery had a nice aspect to it, what we were displeased about was the service especially being a brand new shop whom would strive to gain a customer base. Regardless of the uptight demeanor the employees that day,(hopefully none of them were the owner/s) the baked goods and coffee were outstanding. Hopefully on our next visit this will change, so we can continue enjoying there food but with better service.

I stumbled upon Start from scratch by chance when shopping in the plaza and I’m so happy I did! I have been searching for freshly made gluten free pastries for forever and have relied on Glutino packaged snacks until now! I picked one of each pastry raisin cookie, chocolate cake, vanilla cupcake and another chocolatey desert. Everything was so rich with flavor. Customer service was very genuine. I would def recommend to all even if you are not searching for a vegan-gluten free snack.

Excellent ! Delicioso dulces. Great taste !

Great food, great customer service, overall great place! Desserts are really tasty. I still can’t believe that they are gluten free and vegan at the same time. We should have more places like this. All recommendations!!!

Great desserts, specially the cookie paired with their enchanting coffee. The Best part was the area so clean. The ideal spot was the outdoor seating in order to savor fresh air.

So happy to have stumbled into this place. I was actually heading to EVOS and decided to stop in to check it out. The nice man attending the front quickly offered us a sample of one of their many incredible looking desserts. I decided to order the blue corn chip Tortilla nachos and I’m so happy that I did. The cheese free/protein free nachos were DELICIOUS!!! It’s definitely a good size portion as my friend and I shared one order. Another eye catching option was the turkey chili. Will be trying that on the next visit!

This is a gluten free and vegan bakery. Now, I have to admit I follow neither diet and I always feel that«real» cake with eggs and cream tastes better. However, my friend wants to check this place out and, being a good Unilocaler, I am open to try something new. We tried the Chocolate Almond Bar and the Upper Crusts muffin, which are beautifully packed into bag and box for us. I really like the Upper Crust, moist with a slightly crunchy top and nuts inside. The chocolate almond bar has a rich flavor to it too, but I suppose because of the healthy ingredients they use, there is a small graininess to it, like the husk of something. Not necessarily a bad thing, just like white vs whole grain bread, regular vs whole wheat spaghetti. The latter is healthier but you may prefer the smoother texture of the former. Price wise, as you may suspect, it is higher than your average bakery. Their tiny muffins run $ 3 – 4 each and the chocolate bar is almost $ 4. However, if you want something vegan, gluten free and fresh, you don’t have many choices, and these guys do taste better than similar ones at Whole Foods, which I suspect is not any less expensive. I notice they serve lunches as well, with home made pita bread and hummus, salad, home made falafel, nachos with organic blue corn tortillas… and each is around $ 10. I may come back and try their lunch, as it does sound very healthy and delicious. Something that even a non-vegan or gluten-gulping person may enjoy.

Stopped by to see what they had to offer — desserts + food items! They had a menu of an option or two for lunch which I will have to return to try. I went with my boyfriend who is a complete sweet tooth and got a chocolate coconut macaron cookie and a banana muffin which we both absolutely LOVED! I have had gluten free baked goods and they have been dry but these sweets were so delicious and moist. I can’t wait to return!

Not open yet but we are so lucky this place exists! I am lucky enough to have tried many of their recipes and even though they are gluten free and vegan they are delicious! If you can get a class of 5 year olds to love them, you’re doing something right. The banana bread and the Rosemary cashews are my favorite… today. Looking forward to walking into the store soon!
