We went with my in laws to Pinehurst for their winter special. From November 15th until early March you can book either a spa or golf session that includes a night at the Carolina inn and the breakfast buffet for $ 179 a person. This is a great deal for this resort. My mother in law said that the breakfast buffet is the best breakfast she had ever had… and she was 100 percent right. They had a huge variety of choices. A yogurt bar, fruit, pancakes, waffles, French toast, omelet bar, bacon, sausage, cinnamon rolls, etc. Everything was excellent! I took a picture of my first plate, an omelette and fresh fruit. The guy making the omelette was the man! We wouldn’t pay for the breakfast if it wasn’t included.

I don’t get it. The breakfast buffet is not at all what everyone hyped it up to be. Cold eggs and meats. Uninspiring. No options for vegetarians. We ended up eating elsewhere the rest of our stay.

Yummy things are happening here for breakfast. Sausage gravy + biscuits? Yes, please. More sausage gravy + biscuits? Okay… Yum. It is a little bit pricey for a buffet, but it’s all the fees and stuff they automatically tack on — like that they tack on a 10% gratuity. While I was only here for breakfast, I’m sure I would visit it again should the opportunity arise. They had an expansive amount of options — hash browns, eggs, bacon, sausage, omelette bar, pastries, cereals, bagels, oatmeal, fruit, and the list goes on. I obviously think it’s worth a trip for the biscuits and gravy alone, but maybe that’s just me!

32 bucks for breakfast? I mean, it’s good, but 32 bucks good? Absolutely not — highway robbery. But there are people in there every morning — lots of them, so I guess it’s working? I don’t know. Maybe look for a cheaper alternative.

Not impressed, expected more. Eggs were runny, the waffles weren’t cooked all the way, sausages were way over cooked. They do have a variety and the dinning room is a nice atmosphere. Not worth $ 31.

I brought my wife here for Valentine’s day. The staff was great, the food even better. The veal and lamb was so tender. The dessert was delicious and perfect.

Great food, great service and an amazing experience with family at pinehurst. Came here for breakfast and lunch. Some of the best breakfast I’ve ever had. The dinner was amazing as well. Beware thought that the auto gratuity only 10% of it goes to the server so we added extra.

Five star service from the front steps to the back door. Everyone goes out of their way to make each patron’s experience exceptional. Great food, great service. Not inexpensive, but when you want to treat yourself in the style to which you would like to become accustomed, this is the place.

Awesome breakfast! What a spread. $ 31 for breakfast buffet! It might be worth it. Great biscuits and homemade gravy. Omelet was great and egg white omelet was stellar. Good attitudes at 0600 and fast service. I would highly recommend this hotel for breakfast, a great treat. Lots of great selections. Reminded me of the Four Seasons on quality and service. Great servers.

Delicious food, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. We have celebrated Thanksgiving dinner and my mother’s birthday here. It’s a real special occasion place. The service is 5 star all the way as is the food. We love the wait staff, particularly Willie and Linda. The room is gorgeous and relaxing piano music via a live pianist(not a recording) plays while you eat your dinner. On the menu, try the corn bisque, the fresh fish and the lobster/crab roll. The breakfast buffet is fantastic. The steaks are also fantastic and well prepared. The food & service exemplifies true southern style. If they have the Shrimp and Grits on the breakfast buffet, be sure to try them.

While the Carolina Room Restaurant at the Pinehurst Resort does not appear to have any«official» designation of stars(AAA, Forbes etc.), I find this singular omission puzzling. As one can see from this review, I believe it is worthy of at least 4 if not 5 stars — certainly if a recent Thanksgiving offering is anything to go by. Upon entering the restaurant, the(buffet) setting amidst autumnal foliage creates an immediate welcoming ambiance to spaciously separated tables many of which have delightful views of the resort’s well-tended horticulture. The substantial buffet itself was comprised of numerous creative dishes as well as the traditional items. The light curry pumpkin soup(but not«hot» spicy), as well as a selection of fresh oysters, shrimps and assorted antipasti treats, were perfect complements to the main course(s) to follow; there were an abundance of turkey stations as well as seafood options and multiple vegan choices for persons of that persuasion. The various accompanying sauces and gravies were delicious to a T(golf pun intended) as was the subtle garlic flavor infused into the stuffing that was clearly(correctly) prepared without cooking inside the«belly-of-the bird» as it were. One also could not help noticing that hot plates were available at all times for the hot food, an all too infrequent occurrence even at many upscale establishments. It must also be commented that it was a pleasure to encounter a wine list of excellent vintages that were not overpriced. Being devotees of online mobile access, we took the time to look up some items on the list so we could make an informed choice. It paid off; we found an absolutely delicious Argentinian Malbec that perfectly complemented our choices of food. Finally a word about the service; it was generally very efficient(prompt attention from greeting upon arrival, to entry and exit) as well as highly courteous. One exception was our main wait person who, to put it diplomatically, could do with some remedial personality training; example: I wanted some ice cream with dessert(which by the way was a delicious selection of obviously homemade pies, cakes and fruits) and was told bluntly that this was not possible. In an upscale restaurant? I finally suggested that an inquiry be made to the kitchen to the effect that a morsel might be located in a freezer. A scowling departure was shortly followed by a manager who appeared as if out of the ether and very courteously asked what flavor I preferred, i.e. it was no problem. Curiously, said staff member with the personality challenge was quite cheerful and condescending to our neighboring patrons; maybe our party(of two) had emerged from our matutinal ablutions of the day with the wrong deodorant. Who knows!

Carolina Dining Room is a wonderful place to spend a special evening. I brought my wife here for her birthday and everything was in perfect order. The food and the elegant atmosphere were exactly what I expected. The service was very good. Mrs Myrna was awesome!!! I highly recommend the grouper. Pretty good wine list.

Thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. It was an unexpected bonus with the package deal my golfing group booked. I ate seafood for the first few nights and thoroughly enjoyed the prawns and scallops. Surf and turf is probably the way to go. Food was great and the pianist playing a song from The Wedding Singer every night, made my dining experience memorable. Got to eat the sundae if you ever dine here!

Truly a great breakfast buffet. The eggs, waffles, french toast were all first rate. My only complaint is that the bagels are subpar. They are not New York bagels, or even close. The piano player, and helpful staff truly give you a true Southern atmosphere. Do not forget the fruit, and grits!

We had a really great dinner here, including my Filet of Beef Diane, which was terrific! Our server was also really wonderful, keeping us laughing throughout the meal. They also have these delicious little cornbread mini muffins, and let’s just say I had more than 2. I’d definitely recommend it for a nice meal in Pinehurst!
