I would really like to give Eddie’s a better review, because they bring a greatly needed product to this area. As a country grocery, they are surely adequate. But the qualify of their prepared foods is lacking, at least on some items. Their signature BBQ was a problem for us. For example, the chicken was both burnt on the outside and slightly raw on the inside. Maybe it was just our experience, and their outside cooker has all of the smoke you could ask for, so you still might want to give it a try.

Eddie’s Country Store is a Pinetop institution. Stop there for the apple smoked meats, especially the apple smoked bacon which is incredible. They also have a number of homemade products including their roasted green chilies. For a small upscale grocery store Eddie’s has a surprisingly good selection of microbrews too.

Eddie lives on in the Country Store. I always get the Apple Smoked Pork Chops and bacon. Smokin good-and the chops are an easy dinner after a drive up the mountain. I also love their homemade Zucchini bread-super moist and tasty. The employees are always friendly. A quick stop when you don’t want to fight the lines and tight aisles at Safeway.

This is not the place, unless you prefer a bargain-basement atmosphere. I haven’t eaten anything exceptional at Eddie’s and, if you insist on thrift-store food, recommend the Love Kitchen, the local soup kitchen down the street.

When visiting the Pinetop area or maybe just passing through on a trip to other destinations, this is the place to stock up on essential grocery items. This must be the cutest grocery store in all of Arizona. This time of the year the aroma of roasting hatch chili peppers can draw you in for miles(okay, a slight exaggeration, but they smell sooooo good). When the snows come, this is a great place to grab a meal on your way to the Sunrise Ski Resort.

We stopped by for lunch and decided to get it to go. My love ordered a pastrami sandwich with sweet potato fries and I ordered a chili cheese dog with onions and a side of regular french fries. The pastrami sandwich was good but the sweet potato fries were greasy and inedible. My chili cheese dog was decent but the fries were cold, soggy and inedible. The service was poor due to the unfriendly employee that took our order. She seemed annoyed with our questions and was rude when I asked for the chili on the side instead of on the hotdog. We will not return to eat here but will frequent the grocery store.

Doesn’t look like much from the outside but don’t judge this book by its cover. Very clean and nice inside with everything that you may need and more. Little eatery and ice cream scoop carts. We bought steak to grill out later today and it was pricey but of seemingly good quality. we will buy the rest of our cookout items at Safeway to save money but appreciate the hometown feel of this market.

Our party of 3 attempted to grab(what we thought would be) somewhat of a quick breakfast before leaving Pinetop this past Sunday. What a HUGE disappointment that was. If you’re looking for a decent breakfast, DONOTWASTEYOURTIME. Not only did it take 50 mins to receive our food, the hash browns I ordered«well done» were white and soggy, the bacon was not crispy and the 2 scrambled eggs were so overdone and dry they had a texture I’ve never seen before. If you’re looking for a great breakfast and a great price to match head to DARBI’S.

Eddie’s «Country Store» it is not, it’s more of a glorified AJ’s. If you are expecting a country store then this is not where you want to go. If you are looking for gourmet grocery then this the place for you. A Country Store is more down to earth and has«Everything» from food to hardware. As an upscale grocery store it is right on the money. As a Country Store it fall greatly short. The choice is yours…

I love this place. We go up to Pinetop Lakeside a lot and this is ALWAYS a stop for me. Aside from being a great size to «pop in» and grab groceries, they have wonderful homemade sauces, jams, pickled vegies and dry rubs. They have a whole section of these great ingredients and they are all made locally. They also smoke chilies and meats in their big smokers outside, so their café has a constant stream of delicious meats and dishes. Inside the store is a great little ice cream stand for hot days. It’s a great place with everything we need. I always bring home their Gluten Free Thai sauce, their plum jam and their steak sauce. Great gifts for friends also!

The lunch counter in the back offers breakfast and lunch items well into the afternoon. Combined with the deli counters offerings you can pick up a really nice meal on the cheap. The pot pies sold on the hot table are made in store from the roasted chickens also sold in the deli department. There are also four soup crock filled with a rotating selection of hot soups, stews and chili’s. The hot case offers many local dishes(think chili relllenos, smoked ribs, BBQ baked beans) while the meat case is filled with in-house apple wood smoked chops, bacon and such. The store is a small branch of Basha’s but is not the place to do your regular shopping. Sale prices and sudden needs but they are a bit on the high side price wise. Also, many of the regular employees(that had been there for decades in some cases) left in a matter of weeks after a new manager came in and things went down hill for more than a year. The kitchen was a mess, the deli was a mess and the cashiers were all new. It took forever to function again.

We have frequented this store ever since it was Lauth’s Country Market. When Bashas’ bought this store they did a good job of continuing its tradition of apple smoked meats and other nice treats. When Bashas’ filed its BK a few years ago the quality did slide. Having emerged from BK they have made strides to improve the quality of their apple smoked meats which they were famous for. However, there are some lingering consistency issues: Sometimes the bacon is salty and sometimes its perfect. The same goes for the apple smoked pork chops. When they hit it right they are spot on.

Gary and I enjoyed a great lunch(you can also get breakfast), ordered at the counter hiding in the back of Eddie’s Country Store. One of their specialties is apple smoked meats. You can order food lunch style, dine-in or take-out, next to the deli counter. We wolfed down a hot pastrami sandwich and a unique Eddie’s Cristo sandwich, the store’s version of the ol’ Monte Cristo sandwich. It featured smoked ham, bacon and turkey piled on two slabs of French toast. MMMM. We highly recommend this grocery store, not only for food staples, but also for a great lunch in a very casual environment. You can eat inside or outside. Eddie’s is part of the charm of Pinetop. NOTE: it IS a part of Basha’s.

Liars. We called specifically to ask about their price on prime rib for a big dinner we were cooking. The deli told us, over the phone, that the price would be $ 4.99, and that they were continuing a sale from before Christmas. «Fantastic!» We thought, «And we can grab a few other items while we’re there.» After asking the deli worker to verify the price(«Yes, 4.99.» He said) we headed over to pick up our groceries. Unfortunately, when we got there, it turns out the price was TWICE what we were told over the phone, at $ 9.99/lb. The man we talked to over the phone had the gaul to look us in the eye after seeing the price was wrong and tell us that he would never say the wrong price. Being in a hurry, we unfortunately still had to give this store some business by buying our other groceries, but there was no way we were going to spend double the price we were told over the phone. Never shop here. They are cheats and liars, willing to say whatever they think will get you in their store.

Wonderful little store that had the most beautiful fresh produce! We were there for labor day weekend and the corn was 5 for .75 cents! We got ripe beautiful tomatoes, cauliflower, an assortment of soft drinks, and we were very happily surprised with their selection of domestic wines! I was told Eddie’s is actually a Basha’s store where they decided to get creative. It’s a very nice little store.

You are a delight, Eddie’s Country Store! Not just for your unpretentious outside appearance snuggled alongside the road to Greer… not just for the genuinely happy way your employees great everyone who comes in… not just for the yummy deli selection and awesome cheese(not to mention fresh bread!) along your displays… not just for the old-fashioned stick candy you sell for 10 cents each at the front counter… not just for the amazing variety of microbrews you keep nice and fresh in your chilly bin… not just for your surprisingly diverse wine selection… not just for your apple-smoked goodies that make your mouth water the minute you drive into the partaking lot… and no, not just for my tendency to make the world’s largest run-on sentence singing your praise… not to mention liberal overuse of ellipses… it’s your loo that is lovely, good friends. Yes, the loo! Just follow the yellow brick road and entertain yourself with quotes from the movie as you… well… um, prolly best to keep that business behind the green curtain(or door as the case may be). Even the porcelain throne gets into the act, sporting the name of «Toto» along its base. Come to think of it, poor Toto was always kinda getting sh*t on in the movie. There might be an allegory here somewhere. Hmm. Intentional or ironic– you decide. Anywho, he take-away is that Eddie’s is a pleasant mainstay for locals and visitors alike. Definitely a stop not to miss whether you live in the P-L-S area or are just cruising up to Sunrise for some freshie pow-pow. Enjoy!

I love this little place. The food that they serve in the back is fantastic. You wouldn’t expect to get anything good from a place like this, but everything that I have had here has been exceptional. The onion rings are especially excellent, and they have a great variety of sandwiches.

On our way into Pinetop, we saw the sign for Eddie’s Country Store, and knew we had to stop… who doesn’t want to stop at a country store? We made our way in the next day and were pleasantly surprised. Eddie’s has everything a country store should have: friendly service, homemade treats, old fashioned candy, apple pies, kettle corn, all kinds of regular grocery items, and a deli that is known for their apple smoked meats. Our purchases included a few six packs of beer, a couple of deli sandwiches, veggies, hummus, a diet coke, some chips, eggs, bagels, muffins, cream cheese, milk, etc… We were offered fresh samples of Eddie’s homemade banana bread as we checked out and thanked for supporting their local business… what a nice touch! After the fact, we learned that Eddie is not that local… he’s Eddie Basha! But we still love Eddie’s Country Store nonetheless!
