Garden of Gems

I came to Garden of Gems utterly by accident: I’d spent a long time searching for the right place to have my niece’s ears pierced, and had reluctantly settled on a jewelry store in Montclair. Then, just a couple of hours before we were to take off, my niece’s friend mentioned that she’d been recommended a store in Pinole for prom dress shopping.
Pinole?! I typed in «Pinole jewelry store» and landed right here on this page. None of the Unilocal reviews mentioned ear piercing, but I called the store and was told that not only do they do piercing, but they had studs with jewels in them. (The store in Montclair only had the gold balls that typically come with the piercing gun.)
So, we drove there (Pinole is really not that far from Berkeley), and like «Miguel O.», I «cannot describe the quality of service [we] received.» Not only did they have a variety of colored stones to choose from, but Lee Ann did a FABULOUS job with my pain-​averse niece. The four of us absconded to the kitchen of this repurposed Victorian house for the operation. Lee Ann was quick and kind (see photo), and charged us next to nothing: the piercing, the earrings, and the large bottle of after-​piercing cleanser came to just under $ 22! My niece exclaimed how charmed she was by the store, and I quite agree.
I had noticed «Joycelyn T.“‘s review, and so I asked Leeann if she could resize the engagement ring I had inherited from my late mother-​in-​law, and fuse it to my wedding ring. She looked closely at my 75-​year-​old ring through her microscope, and found three potential weaknesses in the setting that she will fix, in addition to the resizing and the fusing. I’ll update my review once I’ve picked up my rings.
P. S. The bridal store in Pinole turned out to be a bust, and so went to Macy’s on the way home, where my niece’s friend found exactly the purple prom dress she’d been looking for!

Got married in August 2012 and took me 4 years to resize my ring. Hubby got my ring in the peninsula and I didn’t want to drive all the way there just for a resize. I remember passing by Garden of Gems all the time to and from work and gave them a call. Messaged them on Unilocal and someone got back to me fairly quick. I came in the same day and was greeted by LeAnn. LeAnn was super helpful and friendly. I would have called around to other jewelry repair places for quotes but Garden of Gems was so conveniently close to where I live plus the service here was great, I’m also all about supporting your local business. Along with my ring being resized, they also cleaned my ring and made it gleaming and sparkly.

Cannot describe the quality of service I received. I was in the market for an engagement ring needed guidance and education about diamonds Sara Lee was very helpful and patient. She really made me feel like more than just a customer. I am glad that I came here and will be proud to say and always remember this place as the starting point of my engagement process.

Stopped in over the weekend and found a one of a kind necklace for my fiancé. Garden of gems had exactly the type of jewelry that I was looking for. Local artist produced, one of a kind hand crafted unique classy and high quality. Leeann and amber were very kind and extremely helpful

In fact other customers were in the shop while I was there and they were engaged as well and were highly recommending garden of gems and were so happy with their engagement ring and wonderful service they experienced here.

I have be going there for years for repairs, but this last time I was very disappointed the jeweler
shorten my anklet cost $ 25.00 reasonable, 3 months later it came apart. I returned I they fix it at no cost to me, 1 week later it came apart again I took it back and Lee Ann refused to fix it a 3^rd time she said that the $ 400.00 anklet was cheap and thin and could not be fixed. Not sure how qualified her jeweler is or maybe she should have told me that in the very beginning.

The perfect place for any type of ring you need. The mom and daughter are super nice and can get you the ring you want fast. I highly recommend them, they are very accommodating and will easy going. A+

Went in for the first time to get a ring sized after wondering about this place for a long time always driving by. We ended up finding the perfect wedding band for my fiancé. The owner was so nice and helpful! We will be back and will highly recommend!

My fiancé went here for my engagement ring and I absolutely LOVE it! It’s the perfect ring for my liking. I was looking all over the place for this type of ring and I could find one that had everything I ever wanted (I’m extremely particular). He brought in a diamond from the family and had a custom ring built for me. He said the process was perfect. The owner did an amazing and was extremely honest with him. I know he would recommend, and based on my beautiful ring, I would too!

Lee Ann and Amber are two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. I am a frequent customer and am always treated well. Several times throughout the year they have parties and open houses that are fun to attend. There was a pair of earrings that I had my eye on but didn’t take the time to try them on. Well I went back a couple of days later and about and hour before I got there someone else purchased the earrings. I was so disappointed. Amber was eventually able to track down the pair of the earrings for me thru their vendor in Italy. I was so happy to get those earrings. The only drawback is that they have SOOOOO many lovely things that I am almost always tempted to make a purchase when I go in there. If you are looking for lovely jewelry for yourself or a gift, you can’t go wrong with Garden of Gems.

Their gorgeous selection of jewelry will quickly put you into a spell. And what I like about their pieces is that they’re one of a kind.
The women who run this place are amazing, patient, kind and extremely knowledgeable; you feel comfortable right away.
I can’t wait to go back and get more fantastic pieces.

Great customer service… really feels like a local mom&pop shop. The jewelry selection is relevant and beautiful. My mother-​in-​law went in to get a couple pieces of jewelry repaired and the owner was informative and friendly. I went «eye-​shopping» and found at least two pieces that I want to go back for. If I wasn’t so stuck on this Dave Ramsey kick, I would have totally splurged that day.

One of the best kept secrets in Pinole. Great service and attention to detail. My wife and I have used Garden of Gems on several occasions for repairs as well as free ring cleaning. The mom/​daughter team are not only nice, but also very knowledgable.

I thought I had written a review on Garden of Gems already, bad me for not doing it sooner.
These women know their stuff. They took our loose gem stones and helped my fiancée create our engagement ring and an everyday ring for my other hand.
Where it seemed expensive was the price of the settings. But when you consider that each piece is custom, the price wanes compared to sentimental value and complete satisfaction.

Really nice company and fun to see them in their new (ish) space. Beautiful pieces and great service. Now I just need an excuse to splurge and go back!

And that is because Lee Ann and her staff work to foster long term relationships with their clients!
I brought in some jewelry that was left to me when my Mom passed away. I wanted to turn one of my Mom’s rings into a man’s ring. Lee Ann worked with me, and helped me pick out this amazing geometric nugget-​style ring to set my Mom’s sapphire and diamonds. The setting on the original ring is also going to be bought by Lee Ann for added discount to my new ring. Lee Ann took the time to explain to me the process for creating a custom ring, and is working with the jeweler to make sure I get the best ring at the best price. I have no doubt that Lee Ann has my best interest in mind!

My husband and I went back earlier this year to purchase our wedding rings. Lee Ann was again very patient as I waded through all the wedding rings, both new and «used» rings. She was also great with my groom who was hesitant and resistant to getting a ring. He changed his mind a few times but finally settled on one he liked.
I ended up with a beautiful Kirk Kara wedding band that was in the store after someone had sold it to her. It was perfect (perfectly rated diamonds) and beautiful and Lee Ann was offering it at a could-​not-​resist low price. It now rests honorably on my ring finger and will be for the rest of my life.

I went here to get my engagement ring resized and check the prices of wedding rings. It’s family run, a mother and her daughter both work here, and they’re both really sweet and upfront and honest. The mother, a gemologist, really knows her stuff. I was quite impressed with her knowledge. They also said we could use their steamer to clean the ring off anytime we wanted for free, which was incredibly generous. (I will say I think I shocked her a bit when I said I was the one who proposed – her reaction was «How did THAT happen??» which made my maid of honor and I laugh later on).
The shop is beautiful and has a really nice selection. I would definitely go not on a weekend if you can, during the week they have more time to help you and talk to you about what can me done and all of the options you’ll have. I will absolutely be going back to get my wedding rings soon!
